Big Tree RV Resort

Overview

Big Tree RV Resort offers a serene and welcoming atmosphere designed specifically for the 55-plus active adult community in the heart of Florida. This Encore resort is renowned for its namesake towering oak trees that provide ample shade and a sense of natural beauty across the manicured grounds. Visitors often find a pristine, well-maintained environment where the focus is on a relaxed lifestyle and a vibrant social culture among fellow seasonal and long-term travelers.

Location & Surroundings

Located in Arcadia, Florida, the resort sits in a region defined by its historic charm and rural tranquility. Unlike the bustling coastal cities, this area provides a quiet retreat away from heavy traffic while remaining close to local grocery stores and medical facilities. The surrounding landscape features the winding Peace River and sprawling citrus groves, offering a picturesque backdrop for those who appreciate the slower pace and scenic heritage of central Florida.

The resort is packed with premium amenities that cater to both long-term stays and adventurous seasonal guests. Residents enjoy several high-quality features:

  • A large screened-in heated swimming pool and relaxing hot tub.
  • Spacious full-hookup sites designed for various rig sizes.
  • A modern fitness center and well-stocked library.
  • Shuffleboard courts and horseshoe pits for daily recreation.

A diverse calendar of planned social events and potlucks held in the spacious clubhouse ensures guests have many opportunities to build lasting friendships.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor enthusiasts will love the proximity to the Peace River, a world-famous destination for paddling and fossil hunting for prehistoric shark teeth and artifacts. Downtown Arcadia is just a short drive away, renowned as one of Florida's premier spots for antique shopping and exploring historic districts. Golfers will find several local courses nearby to test their skills, while the local rodeo and seasonal festivals offer a unique taste of authentic Florida culture.

Who This Park Is Best For

Big Tree RV Resort is best suited for active snowbirds and retirees looking for a friendly, communal environment to call home during the winter months. It is a perfect fit for RV travelers who prefer a quiet, shaded setting over a high-traffic coastal resort. I have lived in big tree for 2+ years. I love the place. It's clean not expensive and has great management. Will be here a long time. Maintenance people are also wonderful.

I had the privilege of staying here for 2 yrs in my travel trailer. Unfortunately, I had to move for family matters. I really miss it there. Everyone was so friendly to me and my dogs. The new manager is actually trying to make improvements.

I love it here. So many fun things to do. Never a dull moment. The staff is very nice and hard workers. We are located across the street from Walmart. You can walk or take your bike. You can also go to a few stores with your golf cart.

I have lived here 23yrs, management had changed several times. Some are good, some not so good. Spend the majority ofy time at the pool. Love the dances and activities Hate that the pool closes so early. I used to love the spa at night to use as my wind down. Really miss that. A lot of activities during the winter season, summers are a bit quiet, but I like the changes. I feel bad that we don't get short time visiters anymore. Now it's starting to feel like a trailer park, not an RV Park.

We wanted to make a reservation from January to the end of April 2026 (4 months) and was told that they don’t do seasonal rates and only annual rates. They wanted $580/month plus water and sewer. That’s going to cost around $7000 dollars for a 4 month stay.

Lot Rent constantly going up, services going down (garbidge removal need 2 dumpster and only have 1) grass cutting poorly done by subcontractor. 2 pickleball courts for 300 houses would need at least 6, some mornings 25 people want to play but courts can only handle 8, pickleball nets are all ripped and holding on with zip ties since 2 years, the park management will not replace them. Finally if you decide to sell your house the park will charge you 1000$ for doing so. City Water and sewer used to be free is now charged monthly, when it used to be included in the rent, park says free wifi, it’s only available in the club house.

This will be our 4th season at Big Tree and it has become our winter home! There are so many great activities and amenities that it feels like an adult day camp! There are those that come and go, but there is a very friendly family atmosphere that is cultivated by those that choose to stay and invest in building relationships! Come check us out!

Cannot rate the rooms as we had our own Rv until we bought our park model. This will be our 14th year with Big Tree. We love the location, as we are close to just about everything. We have met so many new friends that have become our second family. We started out at 1 month and now stay for 5 1/2 months. There are so many nice and helpful people, lots to do and fun to enjoy!! Try us out!! You won’t be sorry!!!

Just visiting but very close in proximity to one another. Not a very big pool. But everyone is so nice and the prices are right.
