Bitterroot Lions Youth Camp

Overview

The Bitterroot Lions Youth Camp offers a unique, community-focused camping experience located on the pristine shores of Little Bitterroot Lake. Unlike standard commercial parks, this facility is primarily dedicated to youth programs and large group gatherings, providing a rustic and serene environment for those looking to reconnect with nature. It serves as a vital resource for the Flathead Valley, offering a peaceful retreat surrounded by towering pines and clear mountain waters for visitors looking for a simpler way of life.

Location & Surroundings

Situated west of Kalispell, the camp is tucked away in a lush forested landscape that provides a true sense of the Montana wilderness. The property boasts significant frontage on Little Bitterroot Lake, which is known for its quiet atmosphere compared to the more crowded tourist hubs in the region. The natural elevation and dense timber surrounding the campsites create a secluded feel that makes it easy to forget the hustle and bustle of city life while remaining accessible via well-maintained roads.

Amenities & Park Features

The heart of the camp is its large lodge facility, which includes a commercial-grade kitchen and ample dining space for large assemblies or family meals. While RV sites are typically integrated into the group use areas, the camp provides essential infrastructure like picnic tables, fire rings, and private boat docks for easy water access. Visitors can enjoy a dedicated swimming area and various outdoor recreational spaces designed for team-building and communal activities in a traditional camp setting.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Water activities are the main draw here, with opportunities for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing right from the camp's shore. Beyond the property, visitors are within a short driving distance of the sprawling Flathead Lake and the charming local shops of downtown Kalispell. A day trip to Glacier National Park is also highly feasible, allowing travelers to explore iconic trails and alpine scenery before returning to the quietude of the Bitterroot area in the evening.

Who This Park Is Best For

This location is ideal for large family reunions or organized youth groups seeking a communal living experience in the great outdoors. It caters to travelers who prefer a scenic, unpretentious atmosphere over high-end resort amenities. If your travel style involves group cooperation, outdoor education, or simply enjoying the tranquil Montana woods with a large circle of friends, this camp offers a meaningful and memorable backdrop for your stay.

I do wish they clean the bathroom much better than it was because it feel disgusting for me

Not great, especially if you get grumpy camp hosts. The cabins are very dingy. Dusty w rusty & squeaky twin bed frames w cheap, cracked vinyl mattresses that make you sweat when you lay on them even if you bring bed sheets. No AC so they get hot as an oven in the summer even w the windows open. The lake area is good but it’s on the south side so the wind is constantly blowing against you on the beach. The bathrooms also definitely need an update. They’re very dirty-looking like the cabins on the inside even when they’re clean. The camp needs a facelift for sure.

It was really a beautiful place for a wedding. There are little cabins with bunk beds, and there are showers in the bathrooms (that don't require quarters!) and picnic tables down by the lake as well as in front of the main lodge. The whole place is very orderly. Neat and tidy, and the landscaping and outdoor decor are very well put together. The camp hosts were amazing people, and they must have intuition better than spiderman because the only times we saw them just happened to be right when we needed something! I would very much recommend it for any group event that has activities for multiple days, it really is a one of a kind experience. A little bit of a drive, but thats what makes it worth the drive!

Lake is amazing and very rustic setting. Very cool stuffed bear in the lodge/dinning area.Cabin #3 has a restroom in it but currently smells like it is leaking under the cabin. Communal showers on boys side are very difficult to keep clean.

I practically grew up here. Some members of my family used to run the camp for over a decade. I absolutely love this place and have spent close to a hundred of days here myself. I have a personal connection to this wonderful place and it just seems magical. We've had many family reunions here along with a few weddings. I will never forget this place and it will always have a special place in my heart.

Bitterroot Lions Camp is a place that we have visited every few years for our family reunions. they have a lot of amenities: plenty of cabins restrooms cafeteria Hall and Dock and swimming area...just about everything that you would look for in a little Lake Resort area. some things feel a little rustic

A staple in the community. This place offers both a large 15 cabin group rental as well as a separate section for last minute RV & tent camping. There are 23 camping spaces, 3 of which have rv electric hookups.
