Situated in Cimarron, this park offers a straightforward and welcoming atmosphere for travelers navigating the scenic Highway 50 corridor. Location & Surroundings

The park is nestled within the rugged beauty of the Cimarron Valley, surrounded by rolling hills and dramatic mesas. Its location provides a unique vantage point between the bustling towns of Montrose and Gunnison. The high-desert landscape creates a sense of seclusion, making it a perfect retreat after a long day of driving through the Gunnison National Forest.

For water enthusiasts, the Blue Mesa Reservoir is just a short drive away, offering opportunities for boating and fishing. History buffs can visit the Cimarron Visitor Center to see the historic Denver & Rio Grande Western railroad trestle. The surrounding area is also a hotspot for photography, particularly during the golden hour when the canyon walls glow.

Who This Park Is Best For

This campground is a top choice for nature photographers and hikers who want to be first on the trails at daybreak. It is perfectly suited for retirees and couples seeking a quiet, no-frills basecamp that prioritizes location and cleanliness over resort-style splash pads. Owner, Julie is rude. We have always drove past this place and wanted to stay. We finally got the opportunity to stop and it was fairly evident she wasn't interested in potential new clients. All we wanted to do was look and see if our rig would fit. Beautiful views but not that good to put up with a angry, unprofessional owner. Go to Montrose or Gunnison!

We tent camped here and the site was so nice! Soft grass that was well-kept, and a beautiful view of the valley below. The bathroom was kept fastidiously clean and there were laundry and showers onsite! Location-wise, it could be better. The campground is right off the road so you can hear traffic going by into the evening and night, which was a bummer; the view was slightly less meaningful when listening to the sound of tractor trailers barreling bye. That said, I would stay here again.

We had planned to stay inside Black Canyon National Park but had to switch campgrounds after the big fire this summer. Black Canyon RV Park has beautiful views of the Cimarron Mountains and is about 30 minutes away from the National Park. It's close to the highway so can be a bit noisy during the day. The restrooms and showers are very clean restrooms and the owners are very responsive and welcoming.

We stayed here two nights in Sep, 2025. The grounds were extremely clean and well cared for. The staff was friendly and helpful. Basically, everything you would want in an RV campground. I can't vouch for the cabins but from the outside they looked great too. We would highly recommend.

We were on a month long vacation and this was one of the places we camped. What a beautiful park. The owners were super helpful and inviting. The grounds were immaculate. Plenty of space. Views are terrific! Highly recommend!

Very nice joint! As a tent camper I was hooked up! Being the only ones in tents we had about 2-3 acres to ourselves. The RV sites were well built and plenty of room. Not like some of those filing cabinets I see from the roads And the views, well, just fantastic! Would go back again and again.

I have been coming to this campground regularly over the last twenty years. Let that sink in. Out of everywhere in the USA, this campground is unique. It is special. The owners are kind, caring and attentive. The campground is clean and roomy, and the night sky is unmatched for any camp ground I've been to. This RV park shows Colorado at it's best.

Stayed in an RV site that backed up to the beautiful view of a massive pasture and picturesque mountains. The grounds are really well maintained and it was so nice to see grass everywhere. Bathrooms were spotless. Hostess, Julie, was great! Highly recommend this place situated just east of Black Canyon.

Beautiful campground, excellent location and exceptionally clean. I was able to hike, fly fish, mountain bike and explore the national park all within a 30 minute drive in any direction. I originally stayed here a week after boon docking with my camper in the Cimarrons. After several weeks of hitting the areas state parks, I returned here for some peace and quiet while I worked online. I can't say enough positive things about Bob and Julia as well as the other long term RV'ers in the campground; they all made this digital nomad feel like part of the family. I can't wait to return next summer.

I stayed here in Cedar cabin as a longer term rental and my experience here was wonderful! Julie and Bob are so accommodating and friendly. They have become more than just a landlord, they have become my friends. The view of this beautiful valley is hard to beat. The cabin is cozy and has everything one would need, from a nice hot shower to coffee and all the kitchen necessities. It’s nice that you can open the windows and feel the nice mountain breeze. I’ve stayed here almost all summer and it never got too hot. You’ll love the heater for the cold mornings. If you sit on the porch or outside long enough, hummingbirds will come around or you might see deer eating from a crab apple tree. TVs are Roku so you can basically watch anything and have access to the apps such as YouTube and others. Laundry is cheap and everything is so clean. It’s easy to find them to ask for quarters and if not, you can just easily call them and they will be right there. I highly highly recommend this place to anyone!
