Blanca RV Park

Overview

Blanca RV Park offers a straightforward, quiet camping experience in the heart of Colorado's San Luis Valley. Situated at the foot of the fourth-highest peak in the state, this park provides a functional and scenic base for travelers exploring the high-altitude desert. It emphasizes peace and simplicity, catering to those who prefer unobstructed mountain views over resort-style distractions. The atmosphere is laid-back, making it a reliable choice for a multi-day stay or a quick overnight rest while navigating the southern corridor of the Rocky Mountains.

Location & Surroundings

Located directly along Highway 160 in Blanca, CO, the park sits within a high-desert environment characterized by wide-open skies and native sagebrush. The most striking feature of the location is the dramatic silhouette of Blanca Peak, which dominates the northern horizon. The surroundings are largely rural and sparsely populated, offering a true sense of isolation and unmatched stargazing opportunities at night. This region serves as a vital gateway between the southern Colorado plains and the rugged San Juan Mountains further west.

Amenities & Park Features

The facility focuses on essential services to ensure a comfortable stay for self-contained RVers. Guests can expect level gravel sites equipped with full hookups, including both 30-amp and 50-amp electrical service. The park also provides fundamental conveniences such as clean restroom and shower facilities and an on-site laundry room. High-speed internet is typically available, allowing travelers to stay connected while enjoying the remote scenery. Pet owners will appreciate the open layout, which allows for easy walks with four-legged companions in the crisp mountain air.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The park is ideally positioned for exploring the natural wonders of Southern Colorado. A short drive north leads to Great Sand Dunes National Park, where visitors can hike towering dunes or splash in Medano Creek. For those interested in local history and culture, the town of Alamosa and the historic Fort Garland Museum are just minutes away. Outdoor enthusiasts can find endless opportunities for high-altitude hiking and photography along the trails of the Sangre de Cristo Wilderness, which offers some of the most rugged and beautiful terrain in the state.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is a perfect match for independent RV travelers who prioritize proximity to nature and national parks over onsite luxury amenities. It is especially well-suited for photographers and mountain climbers seeking a convenient basecamp near the 14,000-foot peaks of the Blanca Massif. Long-term travelers and digital nomads looking for a quiet, affordable place to work with a view will find the tranquil environment highly productive. If you appreciate rugged beauty and a minimalist approach to camping, this is an excellent choice for your Colorado itinerary.

Very bad people. They watched me since the day I pulled up all the way to the day they knocked on my door telling me to leave. Many of the people staying there are associated with the park, and they watch you like a Hawk. Very insecure once they found out that I could defend myself. There is only ONE good person, his name is Jeremy and he works mornings. Do NOT STAY here. If you need to STOP, wait until morning, and hope to find Jeremy behind the counter. He’s got long hair, really nice guy. If you don’t see him, leave and just go to The Fort which is 4 miles east instead. There’s an Alta there. Stay away from the Blanca Police Department. They are biased. Watch your speed as you drive through on the 160 to avoid attracting them. Stay COMPLETELY away from Costilla County Sheriff. They are corrupt, untrustworthy and unhelpful.

Ya it's cheap and there's a reason why. Do not come here. The manager here is a sketchy little narcissist who thinks he can scream yell and cuss at senior citizens. Very poorly managed besides being dirty and depressing. I will be happy to haul my handicapped son out of here cause over my dead body will I continue to let him stay here. I was just cleaning his camper so he can come home from a month stay in the hospital and I was attacked by the manager. He marched up the stairs and walked right in and started attacking me. He did not knock, did not ask to come in nor did we invite him in. My other son was there and witnessed it All.

I wish I can give a 0 star if possible. Don’t believe the information from Google introduction, there is nothing like that. There is no shower, no hot water, a broken toilet, the whole park is outdated.

Being at the Blanca RV Park for the past three years has been an amazing experience. This place is so much more than just a beautiful spot to visit; it's a thriving community where people from all walks of life, including many veterans, come together, find comfort, and support each other. Whether you're looking to build an off-grid lifestyle or simply enjoy the serenity, you'll find it all here. I can honestly say it feels like home, and as I work on building my own off-grid dreams, I couldn’t have asked for a better place to do it. Thank you to everyone who makes this community as special as it is.

Technically we didn't stop at the RV park. We were stopped by the Blanca PD in front of the RV park. The officer was very polite. We donated $120 to the city Blanca. We tried to pay in person but the municipal building is closed on Thursday a d Friday. Don't speed in Blanca.

Stop in here to fill propane and gas, has a little bit of everything inside including RV items which is helpful. Prices are always the same as the others around so I never worry about paying more. Nice that they do propane fill.

Trying to get propane tanks filled. A guy in front of me had a 100 lb tank. In the process of filling the 100 lb tank America's came and started filling the big tanks. The 100 lb tank was filled, then the guy told me he couldn't fill my tanks until the Amerigas driver was finished. The driver said he could fill my tanks. What the attendant said was crap.i was going there quite often. I will not go back there.

This was a last minute stop. The price was good for an overnight stay. One night is $36 plus tax, so we paid $39.52. That was for a 30amp. We decided to stay due to the good reviews it had. It's not the nicest looking for an RV park. The gentleman whom checked us in was really nice but there were two other men outside on the porch that just stared at everything you did. It made us feel like we were not welcomed. It was a bit unsettling. They were even there when we were prepping to head out the next morning. There is a pretty view of Mount Blanca and the gas station there is also convenient along with the little convenience store. Despite the appearance it was very quiet at night.

horrible customer service , damien is nice but the others just have this privileged attitude and they dont like hispanics or black people. the workers are all white men who have nasty attitudes and one of the managers adam shoved me over me asking for him to unlock the showers because they never gave me a key. as if i was in his way and then threw the key at me and i had done nothing wrong to him. even his wife watched him do so. now he said we had to leave because our window is broken and we had a tarp over the roof in case leaks while it rains and so we fixed the issues and he quickly came up with another excuse saying our sewage pump isnt plugged in and pulled out a list of rules for campers even tho the camper next to us has a broken window and no sewage pump in. then he told us on the thursday we usually go up to renew our weekly rent since we were only supposed to be here for a month n a half but then gave us 1 day to find someone to pull our camper out of there gave us till 2pm thankfully but then again we asked for another hour since the person we were gunna have pull us got covid and then they threatened to get us towed if we didnt leave at two. just sad to see the lack of empathy and kindness towards PAYING customers lol. (not to mention they never gave us a warning or list of rules and when i asked if any of these things were an issue they said no) this all happened after adams wife had been staring at me so i stared back and said "what" and she didnt say anything back but went back into her camper so im assuming she told adam something and then they just decided to find a reason to make us leave
