Location & Surroundings
Located just north of Ruidoso in Alto, New Mexico, the park is tucked away within a picturesque valley surrounded by towering ponderosa pines and native vegetation. The layout emphasizes the natural landscape, with sites arranged to provide easy access to several Lincoln National Forest hiking trails. The presence of the seasonal creek creates a lush environment where guests often spot local wildlife, including mule deer and elk, making the park feel like a true wilderness sanctuary despite its proximity to the main highway and nearby town conveniences.

The facility offers a variety of site types to suit different travelers, including full hookup RV sites with 30 or 50-amp service. Guests can choose from several layout options to match their specific needs:
- Spacious pull-thru sites are available for those with larger rigs who prefer easy entry and exit.
- Secluded back-in sites offer a closer connection to the forest edge and enhanced privacy.
- Primitive tent camping areas provide a traditional experience for those traveling without an RV.
For those traveling with pets, the dedicated off-leash dog run provides a safe space for daily exercise. On-site recreational features include a sand volleyball court, horseshoe pits, and a playground for children. Guests also have access to well-maintained private showers, restrooms, and a laundry room.

For traditional mountain entertainment, the Flying J Ranch Chuckwagon Supper and Show is located just minutes away. The nearby town of Ruidoso offers charming shopping, local dining, and the famous Ruidoso Downs Race Track. Fishing is a popular pastime in the region, with the Rio Bonito and nearby Grindstone Lake offering excellent opportunities to catch trout in a stunning mountain backdrop.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is ideal for travelers seeking a family-oriented atmosphere that prioritizes a deep connection to nature over high-density resort commercialism. We stayed at Bonito Hollow Campground for a weekend fishing trip and had a great experience. The cabin was comfortable, clean, and in a quiet area that made it easy to relax after a day out. The location is perfect—just minutes from Bonito Lake—so getting to the water was quick and hassle-free. Communication from the owner was excellent from start to finish. Overall, a great stay and definitely a spot we’ll return to.

Our visit at Bonito Hollow RV Park was a very nice one. The park is very clean. Sites are level, gravel, fire pits, picnic tables, a shower house and a small laundry room. Hosts even deliver firewood to your site If you so desire, Marshall and his crew were extremely friendly and helpful. They escort you to your site And we felt very welcomed. This is just outside of Ruidoso up in the mountains so no flood damage whatsoever, we would stay here again!

We just returned from a week long stay at Bonito Hollow. What a peaceful and relaxing place. Friendly staff, clean place and wild horses show up at breakfast time. Highly recommend this place.

Bonito Hollow Rv Park was so beautiful and quiet. The staff was very friendly. The amenities such as the showers and restrooms were very well kept and very nice. The view and surrounding area was gorgeous. We had a nice little river that ran behind our campsite and our little dogs loved it. The only thing I would say needs to be better was the WiFi. While we were here our campsite flooded during a downpour however this was not the fault of the campground itself and it didn’t hurt or damage anything. We even had a mama hummingbird and her babies on a tree branch directly above our campsite and she would visit us quite often. We really enjoyed our 5 night/6 day stay here and would definitely visit again. Definitely recommend to anyone.

What a gem! Great campground, close enough to town but still feels like you're away from things. Everyone was so nice and helpful. We will come back for sure.

What a hidden camping gem! Our first time hauling our travel trailer and we couldn’t have asked for a better host! They welcomed us with a warm smile and guided us to our spot. They made us feel comfortable and even helped us park our travel trailer. This location is peacefully located in a quiet, clean- serene area of Alto. Bonito Lake is just a short distance away from the campground which is definitely a plus for early morning fishing! The campground is dog friendly! We were greeted by deer every morning, such a delight. You will not be disappointed! We are already planning our next relaxing getaway!

Greeted personally by owners upon arrival. We were shown our RV location and introduced to all of the amenities on site. It was very quiet, even with others camping on site as well. Views and hiking the area is without equal.

This place is great!! Beautiful, spacious, and quiet. We traveled with friends in two other trailers and did a little riding. Staff is very friendly, they escort you to your site and help get you backed in if needed. Sites are well spaced apart so you have a little yard room. Clean bathrooms and laundry. The fenced in dog area is nice too. Abundant wildlife!! Watch out for the ravens, they like shiny things! Tried to steal the foil grease trap on the grill every day. LOL I would definitely recommend this place!!

It's all about the value. Back in site. Had to level RV with blocks. Their Good Sam review shows they have laundry, but they did away with it. There are no amenities here. There regular fee is just under $50 a night. You can get a motel room on RT 66 for $45 per night Best I can say is it's in the mountains. It's quiet and is in a beautiful area, but not worth the cost Main reason for stay was to do laundry and had to go into town. 25 miles round trip. They should update campground information to included no amenities. We would have booked another campground had we known that.
