Border Inn & RV Park

Overview

Border Inn & RV Park serves as a welcoming oasis for travelers navigating the legendary Highway 50. This unique destination sits directly on the Nevada and Utah border, offering a blend of traditional hospitality and essential services. It is a multifaceted property that combines a motel and RV park experience with a social hub atmosphere. The park features an onsite restaurant and casino, providing a convenient spot to refuel and relax after a long day of driving through the High Desert.

Location & Surroundings

The park is situated in the vast expanse of the Great Basin, surrounded by rugged mountain ranges and wide-open plains. Staying here offers a true sense of isolation and peace, which is characteristic of the Loneliest Road in America. Its position right on the state line provides a unique geographical experience. The sweeping desert vistas change colors dramatically as the sun sets, and the high altitude ensures the air remains crisp and clear throughout the year.

Amenities & Park Features

Designed with practicality in mind, the park offers spacious pull-through RV sites equipped with full hookups including 30 and 50 amp service. Travelers appreciate the 24-hour convenience store and fuel station, which are critical resources in this remote stretch of Nevada. The facility also provides clean showers, laundry rooms, and Wi-Fi access. Having access to a full-service bar and restaurant just steps from your rig makes this a highly functional stopover for weary drivers.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The primary draw for guests is the proximity to Great Basin National Park, located just a short drive from the park entrance. Visitors can explore the intricate formations of Lehman Caves or hike to see the ancient Bristlecone pine trees on Wheeler Peak. Because of the minimal light pollution, the area is designated as an International Dark Sky Park, offering some of the best stargazing opportunities in the continental United States for astronomy enthusiasts.

Who This Park Is Best For

This location is an excellent choice for national park enthusiasts and road-trippers seeking a reliable basecamp in a remote setting. It is ideal for those who prefer the convenience and accessibility of having dining and fuel onsite rather than a secluded dry-camping experience. If you enjoy rustic desert charm and easy access to world-class outdoor recreation, this park provides the necessary comforts to support your Great Basin adventure.

I stay in a motel almost every night and this was not worth it! I understand its one of the only things available that far out but had I known, Baker has a handful of Airbnb that are probably better option for the price, I would have went there but cant cancel if you book through the website. The price is way high considering a Motel 6 offers tv's, a room you dont have to heat with a plug in space heater and most of the time a small breakfast. Everything about this place is just old and someone could really make it a destination if they cared to do so. And online it says theres a tv and if you ask about it, all they say is no tv. Not any reason for there being no tv, just no tv. Dont expect a free cup of coffee in the morning either, even if you spend $500 in fuel. Its the little things when you stay in motel as much as I dont and the little things would change it to great stay! But the bed was really comfortable in room 9, the views are amazing, staff is friendly.

We stayed at the RV park. The gentleman who checked us in was very nice and helpful - he told us which sites were available and said to go pick one. He gave us a heads up that one of the sites had to share the water faucet (they had a splitter on it) because the one for the site was broken. Sites were pull-thru, utilities worked. Close to Great Basin National Park.

This is the only lodging option near Great Basin NP. Clean and spacious room. I love the retro-style microwave and was intrigued by the hand soap stored in a take out bowl. Check-in is done in the restaurant/casino. Food was a better than expected. Don’t forget to stamp your US50 passport as a part of unique Nevada experience!

We stayed here to be close to Great Basin N. P. The motel rooms are dated, as others have noted. However, they were VERY clean and the bed was comfortable. Staff were super friendly and very accommodating with all requests. There aren't many restaurant choices near Baker, but that was OK because the restaurant here is good. We ate here 4 nights in a row and were very happy with everything we ordered. They make alot of things from scratch and even grind their own hamburger meat. There is also a small convenience store. This place is a solid choice for visiting Great Basin.

Border Inn Casino RV Park: Site #3 has a broken water faucet. Horrible check-in. Assigned an occupied site & not given any directions, nor a map, nor a receipt. I went back. We discussed two other sites. She said either site would be fine. We picked a site & I came back soon to let her know which site. We hook up water last & found out the water faucet was broken. My husband went with me to notify her. She said "yeah, we know". She had multiple opportunities to tell us, but chose not to. Thanks to our kind next "door" neighbor, we were able to connect to his water faucet. His neighbor was also stating he had some similar issues at check-in. Her unprofessional, "I don't care" attitude was very off-putting. So, we didn't use any other services (store, casino, restaurant or gas). We don't recommend. You'd be better off checking out the RV Parks in Baker, or the gorgeous campgrounds in Great Basin National Park (no hookups). We won't be back to the Border Inn Casino.

Me and a buddy were riding through and filled up for gas. To our delight the burgers are freshly made, open pool tables, and a bar area. The brownie with ice cream was a great way to end the meal

Note - this review is for the RV park. Not a lot of options for full hookups near Great Basin National Park. This place was okay, but needed maintenance. Several of the RV spots had issues with water spraying or leaking from the connection. We ended up filling our fresh water tank vs. staying connected to the water outlet so we wouldn't have water spraying constantly. This is also a very, very dusty RV park. The laundry room was not clean and kind of gross, we chose to wait to do laundry until our next stop. The bathrooms were barely adequate and not well lit and not very clean. Note - we arrived during shift change and had to wait 25 minutes to check in, if they could have just told us what site we had I could have come back to pay later, but no, they made us wait and since the office/store is connected to the casino it's a nasty, smokey smell.

This place has a 4 star Google rating because the gas station, restaurant, RV campground, and the motel are all grouped together. Carefully read the reviews where people have actually stayed in the motel. One of the few positive reviews I saw on the motel was from a person who had only done one Google review. Family member, perhaps? Run from this motel! I would have except it was late, and the nearest place we could find was over 60 miles away. I wish I had read the Google reviews (which I normally do) before booking a room. I don't think I've ever given a motel or hotel less than a 4 star rating. There is no TV in the room. Dead flies in the window sill, plus a couple of live ones flying around. The toilet at one point must have had a broken tank lid, for the one that is on the tank now is way oversized for this unit. The toilet paper holder was about to fall off the wall. The bed and box springs are sitting on a bed frame, no headboard. The door has no seals and poorly fits the door frame. We could feel the air blowing in on us all night. The bed is six feet from the door. We could hear the next-door occupant's phone chime every time he got a text. His phone conversations were easy to hear. You are required to give them your driver's license, which they make a copy of. I had to go back to the front desk and ask for extra towels because we only had one wash cloth and one hand towel. The furniture is old, worn out, and seriously stained. One of the chairs was so bad that my wife wouldn't sit in it. I would love for you to see the pictures I took of our room, but for some reason, they are taken off as soon as I post them. The electrical outlets are so worn out that our plug simply fell out when we tried to plug it in. Three out of the four plugs were useless. This is actually a fire hazard as you will get arcing between the loose contacts. Their lamp plugs prongs have been bent outward so that they will stay plugged in. It really is a bad motel. On a positive note: The staff here are very friendly, and this place is close to Great Basin National Park. I promise you we won't stay here again.

Well let’s start with the service, Joe does it all! He checked us in, and was our waiter, bartender, and runs the convenience store! We absolutely adored him! If you are going to the Great Basin National Park and Lehman cave this place is a great location! Especially because this place has more rooms than baker. The rooms are unique, gives a cabin feel. We had 2 twin beds are they were super comfortable, the rooms are a on the older side but they were clean. So it's full service, room, food, bar, tiny casino, gas, store. the nearest towns are 60 miles into Nevada or 90 miles into utah. Oh and no tv in the rooms👍👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

No TV in room, holes in bottom of door and in bathroom cabinet where rodents, scorpions, and rattlers can get in. Rat trap under bathroom sink and a hole the size of my fist. I traveled across this great country twice two years ago. Rooms for $59, $69, $79. that were nice. Paid $110. to take a shower and leave.
