We stayed for two nights at the Potomac riverfront tent site. The site was mostly level, gravel, a GFCI outlet with 2 plugs, no picnic table. Overall a nice stay with some room for improvement… Pros: -Staff are super friendly and helpful. Very nice people all around. -Beautiful view of the water from the site. -Easy access to the C&O canal trail. -Basketball court, Vollyball net, giant chess. -Very close to Brunswick, highly suggest hitting up Beans in the Belfry up in town, an old church that’s been converted to a very nice cafe. Cons: -Only one bathhouse for the whole property and it wasn’t in the best shape. The men’s room was dirty, had puddles on the floor and smelled. Definitely needs renovation and more frequent cleaning. Elsewhere in the campsite there are portapottys. -I don’t think I’ve smelled so much weed in my life, and I walk around DC 4 days a week. In the bathrooms, in the portapottys, inside the camp store, every 50 feet when out walking around. This is not necessarliy the fault of the staff, but not a good vibe for a “family” campground. -The trains are loud and come through all night long. The website warns you about this. As I said, overall we really enjoyed ourselves and really appreciated how nice everyone was.

We loved the clean and cozy cabin #6 right on the river! Kids loved playing in the water, and we enjoyed watching the sun go down as we prepared dinner on the grill with friends who rented the cabin next door. Bath house was clean and convenient. The playground was fun and our kids loved tetherball and chess. It was an easy drive into Harper’s Ferry to explore. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Thanks for a great stay! We look forward to another trip!

This place is a classic campground with what you want in a campground. Staff was soooooo nice and friendly. The sites are classic and spacious. Showers were hot and clean. This place has kayaks and bikes and right on the river. This place is a family gem for classic camping. Don’t let the people who complain about the trains weigh your decision as the noise is not bad and no horns were heard at any time.

Went on a little family getaway. An absolutely fantastic place to unwind for the weekend. Peaceful and quit, for the most part. They have a bathhouse, a camp store and paid pump-out services if needed. It’s located directly on the Potomac river and has an accessibility ramp to go down to the dock. Great fishing and quiet nights - sort of! It’s extremely close to town so getting supplies is no problem. My only drawback is it’s literally a block away from a train station, so if you’re not use to that it may keep you awake at night. The road to get to the campground is not paved so you’ll definitely need to wash everything (vehicles and campers) once you leave. We rented the prime RV spot next to the boat ramp, which would have been perfect, except there is a swing for photos that shares the spot so kids were constantly coming and going at all hours in our camp spot. Also, the spot next to us had what appeared to be transients living there - camping out of the back of a U-Haul. So make sure you check things out before committing to a spot. Other than that, it was a great, relaxing weekend!

Great Location right on the Potomac river. We had a great RV site, with riverside location close to the boat ramp and pier. We took a tubing trip along the Potomac with tubes from the campsite. It’s possible to walk a short flat route (approx 1 mile) with your tube in hand and then enter the river and float back to the campsite. Such a fun and unique experience. We did this at about 10am on a hot day and it was so peaceful. We had the river to ourselves. It’s super shallow. You can stand up all across. Campground staff were all helpful and friendly. The bathrooms are basic but functional and the hot showers were good. There is a big rail sidings directly behind the grounds and the freight trains do operate all hours. There was some noise with this, but it’s clear on their website and we knew to expect it. We didn’t find it very obtrusive- it was really totally fine. Would definitely recommend. Brunswick is lovely too.

2 things. Wonderful staff. Terrible train tracks keeping you up if you’re tenting. The staff was amazing and helpful and kind. I wish the camp was more forwardly helpful in telling you about the train running through at night so at least we can prepare. But got some bad nights of sleep here. But great staff.

We stopped here while riding the Great Allegheny Passage and C&O Towpath and decided to stay overnight. Overall, it was a great experience—clean restrooms and a very quiet, peaceful environment. A couple of suggestions for improvement: adding vending machines with essentials like water and snacks for after-hours access would be helpful. Also, the tent area could use some attention—leveling the ground and planting grass would make it more comfortable for campers.

Brunswick Family Campground is a laidback, easygoing spot — perfect if you're looking to relax, grill, go water tubing, or kayak along the Potomac River. However, it can get pretty crowded, and the setting doesn’t feel as deeply immersed in nature as I personally prefer. If you're looking for a social, riverfront camping experience, it's a great choice. If you want solitude and wilderness, you might want to look elsewhere.

We have a small motorhome and occasionally stop at BFC to empty our tanks. The campground is always very clean and well maintained. As always, the staff was very friendly, helpful & kind. We will continue to go there & look forward to camping there this season!!

We stayed full time in our RV for almost a year. It was honestly an outstanding experience as we were first time RVers and had a lot to learn. Take my experience with a grain of salt as we lived and commuted from here. First of all, read the reviews. Yes, the train can be a nightmare. The sounds can be horrifying. We personally got used to the noise pretty quickly but there was an adjustment period. The staff are incredible - so helpful, kind, and available for emergencies at any time of day. The bathrooms were always clean when we needed them. The campground is beautiful during all seasons. There are a few full-time sites open in winter and it was the most peaceful experience being there practically alone. The town is beautiful and there are plenty of nice restaurants and grocery stores nearby. The C&O trail is amazing and it was so enjoyable to walk my dog every day. We often saw deer, fox, and all kinds of critters. The music of spring peepers is also incredible. There is so much I could say and much that I'm forgetting, but this place will always be home to us and we are eternally grateful for our time there. The worst thing about this campground was not their fault: The crazy delays due to road blockage by the train. I was late to work many times, or would come home from a hard nursing shift to an hour long wait to get "home". We were stuck by the train, with no way out, so many times. The average wait time was 30min to an hour. The most frustrating thing: the train would often just stop, not move, and even go forward and backward over and over before moving along. It is a train yard after all. BUT, there is so much positive and it was 100% worth it.
