I'm not really sure why this KOA is called a holiday KOA. Except for the fact that Buckeye lake (see photo of lake below) is about 5 minutes drive away, there really is nothing else to do around this KOA and there isn't much to do in the KOA itself. They do have a few things for the kids, a seasonal pool, jump pad, small putt putt and a basketball hoop but it's nothing extraordinary. We do enjoy the October weekend trick or treat events. We look forward to passing out candy and seeing the coatumes. As for the appearance, it is a little disheartening when you pull into the KOA because you see some kind of rough looking campsites immediately on your right. It would be nice if the KOA made those people (I assume years rounders) clean up their areas. The trailers don't look bad, but there's just something kind of seedy about those first few on the right hand side. Not associated with the KOA but directly across the street is Dockside Donuts. If staying at this KOA or if you are in the area, you really should give them a try, they're amazing!

Very nice campground. Lots of activities for kids. Nice staff, clean bathrooms which is nice because they shut them down for 3 hours every day to clean them. However, the only complaint I have is the bathrooms near site 318. In today's world its a scary place and I feel the women's bathroom should not be facing the woods. Especially since there are no campers there currently. Its very eerie, I dont know if its fenced off.. you never know whos camping around and I watch and listen to too much true crime. But other than that, great place. Definitely will be back.

We’ve been guest here since second week of May!!! We love it!!! I’ve read other less than positive reviews and I need to comment. First off, this is a CAMPGROUND!!!!! You’re not at a hotel or motel. It’s about camping!! Bugs, dirt and mud really should be expected. The complaints about the bathrooms being messy, again there is NO maid service. The responsibility falls upon the guests who use them. Remember there are plenty of people that really don’t care how they leave the restrooms. The campground is rustic, the amenities are wonderful and the staff are phenomenal!!! If you want a great CAMPING experience this is the place. If you wanted pampered and perfect, my advice, go to a hotel!!!!

This place has gone downhill steadily since Mike and Shirley sold it. It lost the family feel and added corporate unwillingness to work with loyal campers (been camping there every year since 2006). Security is worse in the evenings - some of the behavior of post COVID campers would have never been tolerated by Mike. The ONLY reason we keep coming back is the location. Unfortunately they still have the monopoly for proximity to the lake. When they screw up your reservation they just say, oops, sometimes the system glitches. And offer no way to fix it.

The staff was exceptionally good, friendly and helpful. That's where the stars comes from. There are some small local eateries in the area that were nice. There's a ditch with stagnant water that smells like a swamp. There were so many mosquitoes that no amount of repellent, citronella etc , could stop them. At around 5 am there is a foul smell around the whole camp as if the dump stations were not working properly. It smells like sewage. It goes away through the day. The pool is nice but small and gets too full too fast. Again, the staff was amazing and that's what made our stay pleasant. We will not return though.

I'm sure at 1 point this campground was 5 stars. It wasn't bad just needed some updates. Bathrooms were very clean and nice. Pool was great. Mini golf was free but needed updated. Jump pillow wasn't working. Great location of of I70 and near Buckeye lake.

The office people did everything they could to get us fit into a spot. Our original site was way too small and they worked hard to get us into another site. All the sites that don’t include a patio are extremely close to one another. Our sewer connection was right into the middle of the site beside us as the site to our other side their sewer was in our patio space. They tried to have activities and get people involved but I think being 4th July weekend most were either in the pool or on the lake. This KOA is an older version and could use a complete make over. Has a nice pool and game room but some king of electricity issue kept the arcade down our time there. It would be nice if they had dock space on the lake also.

Stayed here for the holiday weekend and cannot say enough good things. The campground was quiet at night, everyone respected quiet hours. We had tent site 21, and it was very spacious. Pool was also nice! The staff was so accommodating and friendly. We will certainly be back!

To Rhonda and staff at Buckeye Lake thank you for making our stay very pleasant. Our sight was level and the utilities well maintained. We full time RV and we plan to stay at Buckeye Lake each and every time we pass through your area. Even if it means we need to out-of-route to do so. Thank you again, for a pleasant stay. We are The Griswold's on RVVacation....
