Just a short drive or boat ride away, the Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park offers a full-service lodge and a welcoming dining room for those wanting a break from camp cooking. Hikers can explore the Leatherwood Trail or venture further into the nearby Daniel Boone National Forest for more extensive backcountry adventures and wildlife viewing.

Handicap ramp is not easily accessible to the fishing dock. The dock needs to be positioned further out in the water to make the slope of the ramp less. A one inch o'er foot slope would be better for someone wheehlchair bound. The handicap parking cshould be redone also.

Great spots! About 40 mins from Red River Gorge. Clean bath house and restrooms. Would go again!

Campground was decent. Grass needed cut in most locations. No amenities or camp store. Restrooms were clean but the lights were on a timer. They came on every morning and went off in the evening. At night, restrooms were pitch black so take a flashlight or lantern lol! One last thing. Trash bins were open mesh on top and the smell permeated throughout the campground especially if the wind picked up. It was in the 90’s both days so it was pretty ripe. Staff were friendly and check in was easy.

A nice, simple campground. Very relaxing and quiet. Shopping is quite a ways away. Stock up before you go. Loved the scenery

The sites are well equipped, but small. There is really not anything to do at the campground for families. Do not be fooled by the pool photo on Google. There is no pool. That pool in the photo is 40 minutes away on the other side of Buckhorn Lake. We did enjoy our stay, as it was just my daughter and I on a quick getaway. If I had brought the rest of my kids I would have been disappointed at the lack of activities that are within the campground.

It’s a beautiful campground but, whew, the winding roads getting here will give you gray hair. Bathrooms are very clean. AT&T service was good

Great spot for the route 76 TransAm tour. Prices are reasonable. No one was at the window at the time and so I made a reservation online. Nice sites with power and water. Night light. Bathroom was clean and shower was good. Sun shines on the right side, before the night, closer to the pond. Better to get the left side, for shade. They have ice and a basketball court. I’d visit again.

Beautifully quiet and small campground. An excellent COAE Site located at bottom of Buckhorn Lake COAE Dam. Many LEVEL gravel sites with water and electric, site 12 is a poured pad that accepts my 37 foot 5th wheel. Would easily accept up to 45 feet. 50 Amp refurbished electric hook up with water. KENTUCKY RIVER 20 feet off back of site with a beach behind sites 14 &15... Playground and shelters located at main entry and horseshoe pits and dog area on middle of loop. Highly recommend all the COAE grounds I've visited. If ever in western Kentucky visit Canal campground by COAE.
