Bull Run Regional Park

Overview

Bull Run Regional Park offers a sprawling natural escape within the busy Northern Virginia corridor. Spanning over 1,500 acres, this park balances outdoor recreation with historical significance. RVers will find a wooded campground that provides a sense of seclusion while remaining remarkably close to major metropolitan hubs. It is a well-maintained facility that serves as an excellent home base for exploring the Mid-Atlantic region, offering a perfect blend of forest tranquility and modern conveniences.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in Centreville, VA, the park is nestled along the banks of Bull Run, a historic waterway that winds through lush forests. The landscape is characterized by rolling hills and dense canopies of hardwoods, which come alive with vibrant color during the autumn months. Despite its tranquil atmosphere, the park is located just a short drive from the Interstate 66 corridor, making it highly accessible for large rigs traveling through the Virginia countryside.

Amenities & Park Features

The campground features a mix of pull-through and back-in sites equipped with full hookup options for RV travelers. During the summer, guests have access to the Atlantis Waterpark, a massive on-site attraction featuring slides and pools. For those who enjoy active recreation, the park offers:

  • A nationally recognized disc golf course
  • A public shooting center and archery range
  • Miles of scenic hiking and equestrian trails
The bathhouses are centrally located and frequently praised for their cleanliness and accessibility, ensuring a comfortable stay for long-term or short-term visitors.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

History buffs will appreciate the park’s proximity to Manassas National Battlefield Park, which is located just minutes away and offers a deep dive into Civil War history. For a change of pace, the park is less than an hour from the monuments and museums of Washington D.C., allowing for easy day trips into the nation's capital. Additionally, the surrounding area is home to several Virginia wineries and craft breweries, providing plenty of opportunities for afternoon excursions and local tastings.

Who This Park Is Best For

The winter lights are cool but the best part is the winter carnival at the end with a small petting zoo and cable rides for $10.

We enjoyed the light festival and Christmas village at the end. The lights were super cool and we enjoyed the themed sections of displays. Some were really large and breathtaking while others were cute or comical. We followed the suggested driving speed which made us so much faster than everyone else. Next time, we'll slow down and appreciate the displays more. Before exiting there is a cool Christmas village with some small bites you'd expect. And we rode a camel and fed the ravenously cute little farm animals. The goats were headbutting each other to get to the carrots and lettuce! Very cute and a perfect foot note to the night.

We visited in Dec 2025 for the Holiday Lights and had an excellent time. Suggest buying tickets online in advance to save a few dollars on the per car price of admission ($35 vs. $40). There's a carnival at the end with food and rides available for additional purchase but it was far too cold that evening for our kids.

Went to the bull run festival of lights in mid November. Pretty busy and the lights were ok but definitely won't be back for that.its insane how much money they are bringing in from that event and it's still very spread out light decorations that are skimpy.

The park is massive which is unsurprising since it is a camping area, it has a water park and trails. For me, I visit parks for their playgrounds. Bull Run has three. The first two are close to the entrance with the bigger one being the first you see as you enter the grounds. That one has climbing equipment, slides and swings. Restrooms near that playground are closed for the season. The second playground is tiny with one slide and swings. The third which is the red and yellow one seen on photos, is the one more designated for campers. Great for older children but not so much for toddlers. Check out my page for playgrounds across NOVA! Review for Bull Run Regional Park I recently went camping at Bull Run Regional Park with my 4-year-old, and it turned out to be such a great memory for us. The campground was peaceful, well-maintained, and perfect for families. The bathrooms were clean and easy to access, which made the stay even more comfortable. There was plenty to do — from exploring the trails to enjoying the open spaces for play and relaxation. My little one had an amazing time, and it was a great way to unplug and just enjoy nature together. Overall, Bull Run Regional Park is a fantastic spot for family camping. Clean, fun, and full of simple moments that make lasting memories. I’m already looking forward to going back!

Great, large pull through sites w/fhu. Quiet...except for the very close shooting range. Drive into Manassas or even DC, very quick and easy. Stayed at Bull Run twice, and likely again when our travel takes us near there.

Hella clean and almost too neatly landscaped for a camping site. Employees are absolutely lovely and very accommodating. Super family friendly. If you're into camping with electric, an available bathroom/shower, AND A LAUNDRY (with a laundry sink too 😯) this might be your jam. There's a lot of stuff for the kiddos, but it's still pretty quiet. If you love a traditional CAMPING camp experience, this might be your own personal hell. If digging your own loo isn't for you, this is a great midpoint in between.

We had a great stay at Bull Run. The site was level and made of great packed gravel. We experienced a large storm with no issues to our pad. Our site was well situated for getting in and out of the park. The roads were easy to navigate with plenty of places to unhook the toad. The park offered a waterpark with two slides and plenty of hiking and walking for the dogs. They also had their own disc golf couse. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.
