Burdette Park
Overview
Burdette Park is a sprawling recreational destination located on the rolling hills of southwestern Indiana. Unlike a standard roadside stop, this 170-acre municipal park offers a unique blend of natural beauty and high-energy activities. It serves as a vital community hub in Evansville, providing RV travelers with a tranquil wooded setting that feels remote while remaining conveniently close to city services. Whether you are looking for a weekend retreat or a multi-week stay, the park offers a diverse landscape that transitions from dense forest to manicured recreation areas.
Location & Surroundings
Tucked away on the west side of Evansville, IN, the park is defined by its lush canopy of trees and diverse topography. The surrounding landscape features the Discovery Trail, which connects the park to the University of Southern Indiana. Travelers will appreciate the balance of being surrounded by nature while having easy access to the shopping and dining options found in the third-largest city in the state. The park's position in Vanderburgh County makes it a perfect basecamp for exploring the Ohio River Valley.
Amenities & Park Features
The RV campground at Burdette Park provides full hookups including water, sewer, and electricity at most sites. Each site is designed to immerse guests in the forest, offering a fire ring and picnic table for classic evening campouts. Beyond the campsites, the park is famous for its massive aquatic center, which includes Olympic-sized pools and waterslides. Additionally, visitors have access to a professional-grade BMX track, miniature golf, and tennis courts, ensuring that there is never a dull moment during your stay.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
While the park itself offers enough to fill a weekend, the local area is rich with history and entertainment. Guests can visit the nearby Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden or explore the Evansville Museum of Arts, History & Science. For those who enjoy active travel, the USI-Burdette Park Trail provides a scenic three-mile paved path perfect for cycling or a morning jog through the hardwood forests. The nearby downtown riverfront area also offers seasonal festivals and charming local boutiques.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is an ideal choice for families with children who need plenty of space and diverse activities to stay entertained. It also appeals to nature lovers who prefer a wooded environment over a standard gravel parking lot. Because of its extensive recreational facilities and scenic backdrop, it is perfect for RVers looking for a destination-style stay where the campground itself serves as the main attraction for their Indiana adventure.

Beautiful trails to walk and enjoy the fall trees. Trails are wide and asphalted. Very safe to walk.

A wonderful place to connect with nature. The park offers a paved walking trail that connects with USI.

The water park was nice. The chalets need some serious help. They are run down. Not very clean. Need to be updated. Especially for the price. Plus you have zero privacy if you have the bed near the hot tub. They need to build in a wall and a door. If you have a group of people staying w you. You can't use the tub. With our everyone hearing everything. Big let down.

A nice park and nice paved walkway/trail that is fun to walk and run on. Offers a couple side hikes into the forest and other routes with nice views.

Nice park, seems to have a ton of things to do. I was only there to go fishing but was impressed with all of the different facilities there.

There are 3 levels of camping, RV, tent electrical, and primitive camping. There is a shower house and laundry facilities. It's very nice and clean. There is a water park on site.

Burdette Park, one of our favorite places to walk and sit on a quiet bench in the Spring and the Summer has suffered from the bad weather that brought more rain to it than in the flood of 1997. The park is in fact under a lot of water at the present time, and it will take, we assume, about two months for the water to recede and for the paths to be accessible again.

We rented Chalet #1. It had 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. The master is upstairs. It has a jacuzzi tub. We didn't use it. A fireplace. It has a nice deck with a great view. The deck and fireplace were my favorite. It's a nice place, but it really could use some updates. The colors are from the late 90s, early 2000s. The wallpaper is peeling in one bedroom, above the fireplace. I could tell it hadn't been used in a while. It was dusty and dead bugs on the floor in front of the window. It wasn't terrible. We bought wood at a local gas station. We ordered takeout from Logans. We enjoyed it. There's a nice walking trail from Burdette to USI. USI has some nice trails and paths for bike riding. I would recommend it. My complaints are minor.

Great family pool! Large swimming area for small children. They also have a couple of water slides that are included with price of admission. Very laid-back they actually let you bring your own float and play with non-inflatable balls!
