We came specifically to cross country ski and with the giant winter storm we ended up snowshoeing and let me tell you it was beautiful! The lake has plenty of gorgeous views and things to see along the shoreline. The staff at the market were so kind and polite. She helped us with everything and gave great tips. This area has the nicest people around. Everyone was so kind and made for a wonderful day trip. It’s best to confirm the trails are groomed for cross country if that’s what you want to do. With the massive amount of snow. Over 5 feet in 2 days it would have been impossible. But snowshoeing was a great alternative and very reasonable. We had a nice sand-which and very delicious coffee at the market afterward.

Wonderful stay! The hotel is very clean, cozy, and beautifully preserved. It’s a historic property from the 1800s with a lot of charm and character. The grounds are lovely, and the staff are incredibly kind and welcoming. This hotel made our vacation truly special — we couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay.

My family and friends (four other families) rented the Richardson House and had such a great time. The house felt cozy and welcoming, and we loved that the living room was separate from the kitchen, it made hanging out together much more comfortable. The only small drawbacks were that the downstairs bedroom was pretty cold since the heater didn't reach it well, the basement door didn't lock (which was a little creepy), and the sliding door used to close off the living room was broken, so it couldn’t be closed at night but nothing that took away from the overall experience. We had a total of 12 kids, and this place was absolutely perfect for them. Having the entire backyard to ourselves was a huge win, it turned into an amazing powder-snow playground. The location was also ideal, with a short walk to the lake and a nearby restaurant. Overall, it was exactly what we were looking for and a fantastic spot for a fun group getaway.

I booked this hotel through Orbitz, and the policy clearly stated I had one day to cancel without penalty. When I tried to cancel within that time, the hotel refused. The manager was aggressively trying to squeeze money out of guests instead of honoring their own policy. Be aware of this place — I absolutely do not recommend it

Our family has gone there for a quarter century. The cabins are rustic, but have modern conveniences. Many of them have blue water views. So many things to do around and in camp Richardson. It sits on the best location in Lake Tahoe because most of the rest of the lake is highly developed.

Came to Camp Richardson for a fun winter vacation in early January 2025. We stayed in their hotel, which is within walking distance of the beach(which is within the property). Location overall is just a few minutes from town, which was convenient. While we were there we got hit with a winter storm, since the room access is from indoors (from within the hotel itself), it was nice not to track in snow with our shoes when we came back from our ventures. There's free parking on the property for guests, when you check in they give you a parking pass for your vehicle. The room we stayed in was a cute 1 bed 1 bath (bonus points for having a full length mirror by the bathroom). It was perfect for us since we were mainly exploring and out in town for the majority of our stay. Would definitely be back.

We stayed at the resort's RV park. The location just outside South Lake Tahoe is very convenient. Some of the sites are nice and spacious and face the forest, but others are very cramped. The quiet hours are sadly not being enforced and some campers played loud music until well past 10pm. The toilets and showers need updating and more frequent cleaning.

Camped two nights. Saw black bear (this one was brown in color) which are vegetarian, so I wasn't that concerned. Someone turned on their car alarm for an hour to scare the bear away one night, which was not necessary. Would be helpful if visitors are automatically given a flyer regarding the bears as we enter the campgrounds. Otherwise, people assume they are meat eating bears and overreact. Act big with hands up, make lots of noise, and back up slowly I believe are the recommendations when near one. Additionally you can bring bear spray and / or an air horn. Beach is walkable from Camp Richardson though there is also a beach parking lot.

We traveled from Arizona with some jet skis and staying at the hotel. Looking at the satellite images there appeared to be plenty of parking. That was until the parking nazi came by to give us a hard time about parking two vehicles with a jet ski. Both vehicles were each in one spot, not blocking anyone. One would think that you're at a large lake and to expect that there are going to be people here with water toys. While there appears to be plenty of parking on the property, they limit where you can go, so be aware of that. I then decided to go chat with the manager, as that interaction really rubbed me the wrong way after a day on the lake. Oddly enough someone else at the counter was asking for a manager on another issue. Of course no manager available and the poor front desk person is left to deal with this stuff. I kindly let them know if my parking was an issue to refund the rest of my nights and check me out. The "hotel" is more like a bed and breakfast with very small rooms and no ac. As a business owner, I hate leaving reviews like this but this place obviously doesn't focus on their customers and others should be aware.

Staff very nice and helpful. The location of hotel is awesome due to being next to beach. You can also rent boats or catch the rum runner cruise. This is maybe just me but for the price of the room I’d expect a little better. For example you have to pay extra for a room clean. There is no A/C, no chair in room to sit on.
