Cannonville/Bryce Valley KOA

Overview

The Cannonville/Bryce Valley KOA Holiday serves as a peaceful gateway to Southern Utah’s iconic red rock country. Nestled in a quiet valley, this park offers a more relaxed alternative to the busier campgrounds located directly at the national park entrance. It successfully balances modern convenience with a rustic, high-desert atmosphere. Whether you are arriving in a large motorhome or looking for a cozy deluxe cabin, the well-maintained grounds provide a reliable and comfortable basecamp for exploring the Grand Staircase-Escalante region.

Location & Surroundings

Situated along Scenic Byway 12, often cited as one of the most beautiful drives in America, the park is surrounded by dramatic mesas and rolling hills. The elevation here provides slightly cooler temperatures than the lower desert floors, making it a comfortable spot for summer evenings. You are just a short drive from the Paria River, in a landscape defined by deep canyons and unique geological formations. The setting is notably quieter than larger tourist hubs, allowing for stunning stargazing opportunities right from your campsite.

Amenities & Park Features

This KOA Holiday is equipped with a variety of features designed for long-term comfort and convenience. Guests can enjoy a variety of recreational and functional spaces during their stay:

  • Heated seasonal pool and a playground for family-friendly fun.
  • On-site KampK9 dog park to accommodate travelers with pets.
  • Spacious pull-thru sites designed for large RVs and easy navigation.

Practical amenities include clean laundry facilities, a well-stocked general store, and reliable WiFi for those needing to stay connected while on the road.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The primary draw is Bryce Canyon National Park, located just 15 minutes away, where visitors can witness the famous hoodoos and natural amphitheaters. Even closer is Kodachrome Basin State Park, famous for its multi-colored stone spires and quiet hiking trails. For those seeking rugged adventure, the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument offers world-class backcountry exploring and slot canyons. Many travelers also use this park as a hub to navigate the winding turns and scenic overlooks of Garfield County.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is ideal for travelers who want the amenities of a resort without the heavy crowds found at the immediate borders of the national parks. It is particularly well-suited for families who appreciate on-site activities and pet owners who need a welcoming environment. Because it accommodates big rigs and fifth wheels with ease, it is a favorite for full-time RVers. If you prefer a scenic, quiet atmosphere that provides easy access to multiple state and national treasures, this location is an excellent choice.

We reserved and received confirmation to stay in the lodge. Upon checking in, our room was not in the lodge, but in the Sunset Motel. The desk person said this happens sometimes; no other explanation and no credit. We get to the motel and our door is held open by damp and dirty towels. Room was okay. Our door keys stopped functioning at approximately 9:15am on the day of checkout, although checkout is 11:00am. I don’t suggest staying here, although I do suggest eating at their restaurant. Excellent food and restaurant staff.

We needed to upgrade from tent to cabin last minute due to weather and they were readily accommodating. Cabin was clean except for a few dried bugs on the wall or window sils. Bathrooms were clean and private. Store/small lodge was warm on a cold day and accommodating. All in all a really nice experience. Would stay again

Very good position. Nice and kind lady at reception for check in. If you arrive late, you find your documents in a box outside the office, so no issues. Clean restrooms and showers. Dump station close enough to parking lots.

The location is convenient to Red Canyon, Bryce Canyon National Park and scenic Byway 12. The office was closed a lot during the day when we had questions. The laundry room has one washer and it is $6.50 per load. The “courtesy” wifi is only for 24 hours but that isn’t noted on the information given at check in and wasn’t mentioned by the staff at check in. When my husband went to ask about it, the office was closed. There isn’t any AT&T or T-Mobile cell service. We checked out two days early and were going to inform the staff but again, when we departed at 11:10AM, the office was closed. The sites are well spaced and most are pull-through. The price was okay, at $45/night.

This RV park overall was great. I thought the location was good. Close to Bryce canyon, close to Kodachrome basin, set in amazing scenery. 2 small things that weren't my fave. 1. The site was small (big enough for my camper and most of my car), not a deal breaker and most other campers complained about the tight quarters as well. 2. Only 24 hours of free inter and the you had to pay 5 dollars a day. That I talked to the site manager about and it's something, I hope, they were working to fix. Overall my experience was great. The pool was small but usable and being close to multiple parks was a perk.
