This is a quaint little RV park that looks like it’s been well loved and used. The pull through site was big enough for our 38 ft 5th wheel and Ford F250 truck to stay hooked overnight. The location to the lake was nice, wished we had been there when it wasn’t winter and so cold and trees barren. It’d be nice to see it during Spring/Summer! I’ve left a couple pics to share. There was this sweet lonely goose in camp … crying for his friends….made me sad! Affordably priced.

Our experience at this KOA site was very mixed. On the one hand, it is a beautiful site -- with lots of trees, nature trails, a large playground with sand for the kids to enjoy, and a staff that was super friendly and helpful. On the other hand, the place felt like it was run-down and not being staffed as it should be. Picnic tables were in poor condition and our adirondack chair broke on the first day. The website promised an onsite petting zoo, but that was no longer in operation. And we were there for 4 days - from Friday to Monday, and the front office was closed for 3 of the 4 days. They have a great game room and amenities in the front office, but it doesn't do you any good if the office is always closed. So much great potential, but it needs some love and needs better hours of access for their guests.

This was the most disappointing KoA I have ever been to. It was only an overnight stop, and it fullfilled that. We had full hookups. Problem was, we got there and the office was closed. Come to find out, the office is completely closed 2 days a week. We had planned to fill our propane, could not do that. They advertise pizza, could not get that. Never saw a single employee. It served the purpose, but was well below the standard I expect from KoA.

We have stayed at dozens of KOAs, and unfortunately this one was pretty disappointing. Not sure how it is getting such great reviews. The office was closed early when we arrived at 4:30, the trash container was overflowing, etc. The grass, what there was, was not cut. The sites and roads were very dusty…although that’s not the fault of the park. Not many options in the area, so maybe ok for a drop in overnight, but we will try to find another park next time.

It is a rough pothole road to get there. There wasn't anyone around, if you should need something. The lawns hadn't been mowed. The parking pads were grown over with grass/weeds. Long term campers drove way too fast, making boiling dust clouds. I would have drove further and avoided this KOA, had I known it's poor condition.

We were so excited to be staying at this KOA, then we drove up. Website promotes many amenities and it’s listed as a KOA Holiday. Here’s the run down- Fishing pond is covered in moss and looks like a big oil slick is on top. No fishing for us tonight. Petting zoo is a miniature donkey, a goat, and a few geese. It’s very run down and pitiful looking. Pool is small but looks clean from afar. Patios are very nice but the way the lots are positioned. You sit on the patio and smell sewage from your neighbor. As others have mentioned, this should not be a Holiday KOA. Not even close. Lots are mowed and the patios could be nice if the smell outside wasn’t so bad. Feel very ripped off.

So Nice, We Stayed Twice! We stayed here twice since it was a halfway point for our trip, and we will likely stay again the next time we're passing through the area. The staff were very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The bathroom/shower facilities are kept very clean and well-stocked with toilet paper, hand soap, and paper towels. We stayed in the tent area, which has lots of shade. The electric and water tent sites have a wooded area right behind them. Be aware the tent sites are in the section closest to I-40 and there is loud noise from the interstate traffic throughout the night. We did not have trouble sleeping (it ended up being like a white noise effect), but we wanted to mention it since some people might have trouble. The simple cabins are in the same area. The RV sites are a little farther back. The luxury cabins are the farthest away from the interstate and closest to the wooded area and trails leading to the lake shore. Food options are limited in the Checotah area. It's at least 20 minutes one way to drive to a restaurant. There is a Hunt Brothers Pizza location in the camp store, and they make the pizzas fresh to order that taste great. The staff will even deliver it to your site. It's about $13 for a 14-inch pizza. This is a good option if you didn't bring in your own food and don't want to drive far to pick up something. They also offer a breakfast pizza, which we tried and can recommend. The store closes at 6pm, so if you aren't arriving before then, you'll need to make other plans for dinner. The store (open 8am - 6pm) has pretty much anything you might need in a pinch - which is good because, like I mentioned, it's in the middle of nowhere. There is an entertainment center with a large TV, DVD selection, indoor and outdoor games, and a small give/take a book library. There is a small petting zoo, which is worth visiting. They have a cute goat, donkey, and some geese.

I started staying here several times a year since 2021 and I am trying to be objective, this will be my last visit. I won't comment on the road conditions since they have had a bunch of rain (first two days there it was almost non-stop) and the tractor is down but they are dangerously rutted for an RV. Manager greeted me and was very friendly, pizza was good and enjoyed that. Sites are not maintained, not mowed and no gravel on them so they are very ruted from the wheels. Branches are not picked up, trees need trimming and electrical hookup was sketchy. Staff would do better if they got off the golf carts and got onto a mower. I am used to staff checking in if they pass by if I was outside but not here. Lucky if you get a wave. Tried to talk to one young man and he simply smiled and kept walking. No WiFi, so either you bring movies or use your cellphone. Needs more help than time allows. I even offered to help mow because this was a favorite getaway spot for me. New owners and managers have a long way to go. Don't get fooled by the KOA sign because it does not hold up to KOA standards.

The road getting into campground is in rough shape. The lady that checked us in was very nice and helpful. She told us to be careful where the road had washed out with all the rain and it was bad. She said they have had lots of rain the past few weeks so I can't complain about it needing mowing. It had rained the day we arrived but was nice the next day. No one worked on repairing the deep ruts in the roads. It looks like it could be a nice campground but has been neglected. Sites and roads need gravel. Our site was level. Probably would not stop here again

We have so greatly enjoyed our stay at this KOA each time we’ve been there. It is located in a beautiful setting with lovely trees and it is always super clean and tidy. We always stay in one of their very comfortable and clean pet friendly cabins and our dog loves enjoying walks around the beautiful camp and down to the nearby lake. The staff there is super friendly and accommodating and one of them even offered to help my husband when he saw the hood of our car up thinking we may need car repair help (my husband was just checking the oil). That was very kind of him and showed how their customer service goes above and beyond. We appreciated it very much! We will always recommend this KOA and we will definitely be back! Excellent campground!
