Chequamegon-Nicolet/Two Lakes
Overview
Two Lakes Campground offers a serene escape within the vast Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. Situated between Lake Owen and Bass Lake, this campground is a haven for those seeking a rustic, nature-focused stay. Unlike modern resorts, it focuses on the beauty of the Wisconsin Northwoods, providing spacious sites under a dense canopy of pine and hardwood trees. It is a prime destination for travelers who value peace and quiet over commercial luxury and want to immerse themselves in the scenic wilderness of northern Wisconsin.
Location & Surroundings
Located just east of Drummond, the park is surrounded by thousands of acres of protected wilderness. The unique geography puts campers between two distinct glacial lakes, offering varying water experiences just a short walk from most campsites. The terrain is rolling and heavily timbered, creating a sense of deep seclusion and privacy between individual sites. The air is crisp, and the environment is defined by the call of loons and the smell of fresh pine, making it a prime location for birdwatching and nature photography.
Amenities & Park Features
As a National Forest site, the amenities are simple but well-maintained for a comfortable, authentic stay. The park features accessible vault toilets and clean drinking water provided by pressurized systems. Each site includes a sturdy picnic table and a fire ring with a grill for evening cookouts. While there are no electric or water hookups, the sites are thoughtfully spaced and many are long enough to accommodate modern RVs and trailers. Paved loop roads provide easy navigation for rigs moving through the forest canopy.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Outdoor recreation is the primary draw for visitors to this region. Campers can enjoy sandy swimming beaches on both lakes or launch a boat for a productive day of fishing for walleye, northern pike, and bass. The famous North Country National Scenic Trail passes within a short distance, offering miles of premier hiking through diverse forest ecosystems. For a local excursion, the town of Drummond offers essential supplies and a charming glimpse into the region's rich timber history and local culture.
Who This Park Is Best For
This campground is ideal for self-contained RVers who enjoy "dry camping" in a deep forest setting. It is a perfect match for active families who love water activities and nature lovers looking for a quiet retreat away from digital distractions. If you prefer the crackle of a campfire and a clear view of the stars over a clubhouse and Wi-Fi, Two Lakes provides the authentic Wisconsin Northwoods experience you are searching for. It is best suited for those who appreciate a slower pace of life.

Sites are spread apart, wooded and beautiful! Not a great place for children and bicycles…just sitting at our site we’ve seen numerous vehicles driving over 25mph! Ridiculous and very disappointing.

Beautiful campground! Friendly Camp Host! Beautiful lake atmosphere! Definitely recommend camping here. It didn't give me an option to talk about the sites, so Room=Site.

One of my happy places in Wisconsin. Found by accident while driving the back roads when I camped at Day Lake (at Clam Lake). Everything one wants in a trip Up North: loons on the lake, mist rising up, coffee in hand sitting on the shore, or loons calling in the night as you sit around a crackling fire; deer, bald eagles, song birds, turkey, pileated woodpeckers (three at once not 5' from me). Friends & I use the reservable sites since we come from Madison. Use the campground as a base for exploring (Hayward, Bayfield, Duluth). We go in September to avoid the crowds. Third year this year. Plan to keep going as long as I'm able.

The campsites are a nice size and spaced well apart from each other. The pit toilets are newer and well maintained. The location is exceptionally pretty, and seems to be a great fishing spot.

Best campground in Wisconsin. Close to fishing, mt biking, atv trails, and in the middle of nowhere. Sites are close but very wooded. Some sites are further apart. So great variety. Site host was super nice!

One of the best campgrounds in northern Wisconsin.

Really nice sites. I could see some campers being difficult to park but tenting is fine. Not many bugs. Quiet, but this trip was mid week. It looks like most sites are reserved for the weekend. Pizza at the rivers eatery is delicious.

Came in last minute and found a spot 20 feet from the water. HIGHLY recommend

No electric. Deep in the boonies, but on a nice lake. Good birding. Including loons. And nicely dark night skies.

Peaceful campground in the national forest on a lake that is hard to beat. Been coming here for 20+ years.
