Columbus Woods-N-Waters Kampground

Overview

Columbus Woods-N-Waters Kampground offers a tranquil getaway in south-central Indiana. Known for its lush, wooded landscape, the park balances rustic charm with the conveniences modern RVers expect. Whether you are passing through on I-65 or planning a weekend retreat, this park provides a quiet atmosphere shaded by mature trees. It serves as a peaceful basecamp for exploring the unique cultural and natural landmarks found throughout the Columbus area.

Location & Surroundings

Situated just east of downtown Columbus, the park is tucked away from the noise of the main highways while remaining easily accessible for travelers. The grounds are defined by dense tree cover and proximity to Clifty Creek, creating a natural buffer that feels worlds away from the city. The surrounding landscape features the gentle topography typical of the region, providing a scenic backdrop for evening walks or morning coffee by the campsite.

Amenities & Park Features

The park provides a variety of site types, including spacious pull-through sites that accommodate larger rigs with ease. Essential facilities include:

  • Full hookup sites with 30 and 50 amp service
  • A seasonal swimming pool and playground for family fun
  • A catch-and-release fishing pond for relaxing afternoons

The on-site camp store ensures that travelers can pick up basic supplies, firewood, or ice without leaving the property, while the laundry facilities help long-term guests feel right at home.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Travelers are ideally positioned to explore the world-renowned Modernist architecture of Columbus, often referred to as the Athens of the Prairie. Beyond the city limits, a short drive leads to the expansive trails and scenic vistas of Brown County State Park. For those interested in shopping, the nearby Edinburgh Premium Outlets offer dozens of retail options. History enthusiasts and nature lovers alike will find plenty of diversity within a twenty-minute radius of their campsite.

Who This Park Is Best For

This campground is a perfect fit for families and retirees who prefer a quieter, more natural setting over a high-traffic resort. It is particularly well-suited for those traveling with pets who appreciate the wooded environment and open spaces. Because of its proximity to major routes, it is also an excellent choice for long-distance travelers looking for a secure, shaded spot to rest for a night or two before continuing their journey across the Midwest.

Nice but not every site is full hookups. They have a nice pool area. Pull through sites are suited for big rigs. We stayed two nights to wash clothes and rest on our journey

Well shaded little campground. Near the road, but we didn't hear much road noise. We enjoyed the pond.

This is an older campground with gravel sites. Convenient from I65. Not a place I would stay long term but ok for overnight.

Nice campground, but I think most of the sites are occupied by those for the long term. Seasonal and permanent. Only a few sites FHU. The rest, no sewer, but there is a dumping station. Our info sheet had the internet PW, but it didn't say which listing was theirs. Pool is nice. Bathrooms older, but very clean. Shower heads need to fixed. Huge rain shower heads fitted to a small pipe making the water shoot out everywhere. I think this was once a KOA. We stopped there for our halfway point. I would stay there again.

I looked for a smaller campground for the weekend with my wife and 3 young children. I found this place and we loved it! They have a nice sized pool which was clean and the perfect temperature. Their little pond was fun for fishing. We caught several blue gills. The locals told us there were much larger fish, which made my son want to fish even more! The camp store was nice and they did close early. We did show up after the front office was closed, but our reservation slip was hanging on the office door, which was super easy and convenient. Some of the camp spots were close together while others had a good amount of room. We really enjoyed our time this weekend. The only thing we didn't like was every road/path was compacted pea gravel. Not terrible, but this didn't allow for my young child to use some of their scooter toys. It's not a big deal at all! I highly recommend this campground. We will be back!

Nice campground I love that it's shaded with trees but some sites are tight. Shower house was clean but the still I went in was for shorter people I'm 6'3" and the shower head was below my neck. I didn't realize it cost money to fish in the lake I haven't tried yet. Still looking for the dumpster lol. But I'm liking it so far. The big thing is only a handful of sites have septic. And hard to get in for monthly.

Great location for being close to the highway. Bad location because it’s close to the highway and there is a lot of road noise. Office is posted they are open til 5:00 on Mondays…we arrived at 4:15 and the door was locked, lights off, and no more. A camp map with our name on it was tacked up by the door. Great site (#60), big, at the back. No water. There is a water spout, but according to a helpful neighbor they don’t turn the water on until April—that would have been great information to know prior to booking as we would not have paid $54 for no water and no on-site sewer. They have all-year water connection by the office so we were able to fill up. They bill themselves as having wifi and there is even a wifi password on the map. What they DON’T tell you is which network the password works on. I’ll tell you—NONE of the nine that were listed. There are a lot of full-timers here and their lots are very messy. It’s not a place I would stay again. We are just passing through and will keep on going next time.

I love this place! Quiet and a very nice staff. Restrooms and laundry room are exceptionally clean.
