Colville/Browns Lake
Overview
Colville/Browns Lake offers a serene escape within the vast Colville National Forest. This primitive campground is situated along the shores of Browns Lake, providing a quiet atmosphere far from the noise of city life. Because the lake is designated for fly fishing only and no internal combustion engines are allowed, visitors can enjoy a remarkably still environment. It is a place where the sounds of the forest take center stage.
Location & Surroundings
Located near Usk, Washington, the park sits in the rugged Selkirk Mountains of Pend Oreille County. The drive to the site involves forest service roads that wind through dense timber and mountain meadows. The surrounding landscape is characterized by steep ridges and clear water, offering a true backcountry experience. It serves as a gateway to the high-country wilderness of Northeast Washington.
Amenities & Park Features
As a rustic destination, the park focuses on natural beauty rather than modern luxuries. Travelers will find vault toilets and basic picnic tables at each site. There are no hookups for water, sewer, or electricity, making it essential for RVers to arrive fully prepared for dry camping. The sites are shaded by thick forest cover, providing privacy and a genuine woodland feel for those who value simplicity.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
The primary draw is the water, where anglers seek out wily trout in a pristine setting. Hikers can access the Hall Mountain Trailhead, which offers panoramic views and the chance to spot the local bighorn sheep herd. The nearby Pend Oreille River provides additional opportunities for boating and wildlife photography. For a more developed day trip, Sullivan Lake is just a short drive away through scenic forest routes.
Who This Park Is Best For
This location is ideal for self-contained RVers who prefer solitude over social activities. It caters specifically to fly-fishing enthusiasts and those looking to disconnect from digital life, as cell service is often unavailable. If you enjoy primitive camping and want a front-row seat to the wilderness of Washington State, this quiet lakeside retreat provides the perfect landscape for your next outdoor adventure.

Awesome spot with, far out from the city and no neighbors! This company( scenic canyons) commonly sells the trees at their spots so it is recently treed. Fly fishing only at the lake BUT,you can have campfires well into the burn ban because there is a camp host and it's an improved campground. So it's well worth the 30bucks 2 have a campfire, weather permitting. Not sure what these people are talking about but there aren't any properties near there besides old logging roads. No weird neighbors creeping on campers. I wish they were more specific with their very odd comments.

I drove up during the winter. It's a nice little isolated spot. Very peaceful.

They cut back tons of trees. No boat launch. Swimming and access to the lake is great. Somewhat expensive. All new gravel, benches, etc. There are no flat spots for tents yet; bring a metal rake if you want to do that! Sites are pretty close together. It will take a few years before the tree canopy is back and there’s more shade, but that means less bugs than other campgrounds nearby. Still looks like there is stuff in progress so I remain hopeful!

Small campground that fills up but worth the drive. Its down a long narrow dirt road with a nice cold clean lake at the end. Bug spray of course is a good idea.

Long rough road leading into this camp which keeps it uncrowded and quiet! Very peaceful high lake (for the area). Sites are old, so quite small for rv's. Overhanging branches are a hazard and trailers longer than about 30' will have difficulty navigating.
