Crowley's Ridge
Overview
Crowley's Ridge State Park offers a unique retreat atop the distinctive geological formation that rises above the Mississippi Delta in Greene County. Established in 1933, this site showcases the expert craftsmanship of the Civilian Conservation Corps through its historic stone and wood structures. The park blends natural beauty with Arkansas heritage, providing a quiet escape characterized by rolling hills and native hardwood forests that contrast sharply with the surrounding flatlands of the St. Francis River basin.
Location & Surroundings
Situated just north of Paragould, the park sits on the edge of the northeast Arkansas delta region. The setting is defined by its namesake, a narrow loess ridge that provides a wooded sanctuary for local wildlife. Visitors will find themselves surrounded by towering oaks and hickories, creating a secluded atmosphere while remaining close to the conveniences of town. It is a peaceful transition zone where the hills meet the plains and create a scenic overlook for travelers.
Amenities & Park Features
The park features several camping options tailored for modern travelers, including 18 full-hookup sites that provide water, sewer, and 50-amp electricity. For those seeking a simpler experience, there are also standard electric and water sites available. Guests have access to modern bathhouses, a pavilion for gatherings, and Walcott Lake, which is popular for fishing. The park also maintains seasonal pedal boat rentals and a designated swimming beach area for summer recreation.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Outdoor enthusiasts can explore five different trails, including the Spider Creek Trail, which winds through diverse flora and historic ruins. Fishing for bass and catfish at Walcott Lake is a favorite pastime, while the swimming lake offers a refreshing break during summer months. Nearby, the city of Paragould offers local dining and shopping, and the Arkansas State University campus in Jonesboro is just a short drive away for cultural events.
Who This Park Is Best For
This destination is ideal for nature lovers and families looking for a quiet, educational environment. The moderate-sized RV pads and shaded sites make it perfect for those who prefer state park settings over large commercial resorts. History buffs will appreciate the preserved CCC architecture, while those traveling through the Arkansas Delta will find it a refreshing, elevated stopover with plenty of space to breathe, relax, and explore the natural world.

Year 15 of fall pics with my best friend. Such a gorgeous place! The staff at the gift shop were so helpful. And we even made friends with other visitors.

Very nice AR state park. We would certainly come back. It's on a predominantly Shortleaf Pine forest ridge that rises above farm fields of the AR delta that grows rice for miles. The forest features some very tall & old growth pines & hardwoods - it's beautiful. Park also features a beautiful CCC log-cabin style built pavilion with a dance floor & bathhouse on a little swim lake with a beach. Campground has nice fairly level & paved RV sites and a nice tent-only area. Picnic table was nice & clean, but its not on a level, paved, or rocked pad (the only downer in his park, but not enough to give it a star less). Bathrooms are basic no-frills, but very clean with H/C showers.

Really nice quiet place to camp. Thousands of small frogs by the lake was a surprise. Good trails even if there a a lot of roots to step over. Nice little lake. Camp hosts and rangers are very nice and accommodating. The little store is cute. Satellite service was sketchy even with Starlink. Bathrooms could have used a bit more attention but nothing horrible.

The kids had an absolute blast at the new Splash Course. The staff were so genuinely friendly and helpful. The lifeguards were very attentive while on watch, but friendly enough to have fun, play and engage the swimmers while on breaks. 10/10 will definitely be going back soon.

It was a relaxing place and a great spot to let the dogs run around as long as you have common sense and don't let your dogs bother others. Friendly people. Very well taken care of place....

It is a great place to take kids. They have a swimming area, fishing area, and playground area. They have paddle boats you can rent. The camping area is very nice and clean. The cost to camp here is very reasonable as well.

We love camping here or just taking a quick day trip to walk around and explore. There is a lot of do here, in all seasons. Make sure to walk around the swimming area and if you are lucky the waterfall will be running.
