Dardanelle Lake - COE/Shoal Bay Park
Overview
Shoal Bay Park, managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, offers a tranquil lakeside setting on the southern shores of Lake Dardanelle. This destination is highly regarded among the RV community for its spacious campsites and direct proximity to the water. Visitors often come here to trade the noise of the city for the gentle sounds of the Arkansas River system. It provides a classic, nature-first camping experience that emphasizes scenic views and relaxation over commercial distractions.
Location & Surroundings
Situated in New Blaine, Arkansas, the park rests within the heart of the picturesque Arkansas River Valley. The surrounding landscape is defined by the expansive 34,000-acre Lake Dardanelle, which is framed by the rolling foothills of the Ozark and Ouachita Mountains. The park’s specific position on the Shoal Bay arm of the lake provides a sheltered environment with calmer waters, making the atmosphere feel like a secluded sanctuary hidden away from busier tourist hubs.

The park features dozens of well-maintained campsites equipped with electric and water hookups that accommodate a variety of RV sizes. The layout is designed to maximize shoreline access, with many sites offering a view of the bay. Key amenities available to guests include:
- Convenient concrete boat ramps for immediate lake access.
- Clean restrooms and hot shower facilities for comfort.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Outdoor enthusiasts will find no shortage of activity, as the lake is a premier destination for trophy bass fishing and birdwatching. Just a short drive away, you can explore Mount Magazine State Park, which features the highest point in Arkansas and spectacular hiking trails. History buffs may enjoy visiting the nearby Subiaco Abbey, while the Lake Dardanelle State Park visitor center offers excellent educational exhibits regarding the unique local ecosystem and the history of the Arkansas River.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is ideal for avid anglers and boaters who want direct access to some of the most productive fishing waters in the state. It is also a fantastic choice for families seeking a budget-friendly vacation in a quiet, natural setting. Because it is a COE facility, it is particularly well-suited for travelers with an America the Beautiful pass, offering a high-quality camping experience at an exceptional value for those who prefer a peaceful retreat over a resort-style atmosphere.

Very nice park. Didn't have problems with noisy people. I personally didn't like our spot just for the fact it was close to the playground equipment and people didn't think twice about walking thru your camp.

Beautiful park. The shower and bathrooms were decent. The sites are well maintained. The swim area is a bit small and the bottom has a lot of silt and sticks, so definitely bring water shoes. They have multiple ramps and docks. The way you have to reserve the spot is not the easiest (online only). However, there is cell service here, so you are able to reserve it from your phone while here. The site is a little difficult to understand, so be patient. Overall, it's a great park to stay at.

This park is right on lake Dardanelle. We had a good spot with a lake view. The park has bathrooms and showers. Some spots are right on the lake. Very kid friendly with a little beach and swimming. The park has a playground and is dog friendly. No bike trails but you can ride around the park. Lots of boat parking.

We have been coming to Shoal Bay for over 40 years. It is very clean. Has playground for the kiddies. Easy in/out campsites, Corp Rangers patrol regularly so there is NO trouble of any kind other than the general argument on who caught the biggest fish. Today is March the 18th and we just set up camp at Shop for the weekend. I wougd highly recommend Shoal Bay to anyone that loves camping, hiking and just relaxing.
