Daroga

Overview

Daroga State Park is a hidden gem tucked away in the desert landscape of Central Washington. Located along the scenic banks of the Columbia River, this park offers a lush, green contrast to the surrounding arid hills. Visitors come here to enjoy the calm waters of Lake Entiat, making it a premier destination for those who want to combine a desert camping experience with refreshing aquatic activities. The park is known for its well-maintained grounds and expansive views of the river and the rolling hills of Douglas County.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in Orondo, WA, the park is approximately 18 miles north of Wenatchee and a short drive south of the popular Lake Chelan area. The surrounding landscape is dominated by shrub-steppe terrain and iconic basalt cliffs, which create a striking backdrop for the bright blue water. Because of its location in the rain shadow of the Cascade Mountains, campers often enjoy warm, sunny weather throughout the summer months. The park’s layout takes full advantage of its one and a half miles of shoreline, offering plenty of space for exploration.

Amenities & Park Features

RV travelers will find comfortable accommodations with sites that provide water and electricity hookups. While there are no full hookups, a convenient dump station is located on-site for guest use. The park features clean restrooms and hot showers to enhance the camping experience. For recreation, the park includes a two-lane boat launch, swimming areas, and several sports facilities such as tennis and basketball courts. Large picnic shelters and expansive grassy lawns provide perfect spots for family gatherings or relaxing after a day on the water.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The primary draw at Daroga is water recreation, including boating, jet skiing, and paddleboarding on the Columbia River. Fishing is also a popular pastime for those looking to catch steelhead or salmon. Just a short drive away, visitors can explore the Wenatchee Valley orchards or venture into the Chelan Valley to visit world-class wineries. For those interested in land-based activities, the nearby Echo Ridge Summer Trails offer miles of hiking and mountain biking with panoramic views of the Columbia River Basin.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is ideal for boaters and water sports enthusiasts who want easy access to a large, navigable waterway without the crowds often found at more commercialized lakes. Families will appreciate the safe, manicured play areas and protected swimming spots. It is also an excellent choice for RVers looking for a tranquil home base while exploring the agricultural and viticultural attractions of North Central Washington. If you prefer a mix of desert sun and cool river breezes, Daroga is a perfect fit for your itinerary.

Great state park for camping. Not nearly as popular as Lincoln Rock but equally as nice. The facilities are all well kept, camp sites are we kept though no septic but power and water which is nice. Nice play ground with a swimming area. Good size boat launch and dock.

Daroga State Park is a beautiful and scenic spot perfect for camping, hiking, and biking. The campground is well-maintained with clean facilities and plenty of amenities. Pets are welcome on leash, making it a great place to bring furry friends along. I enjoyed the peaceful trails and access to the river, ideal for outdoor enthusiasts and families alike. Highly recommended for a relaxing nature getaway!

We car camped here one evening. The campsite was OK. It’s an RV style campsite with power at each location. The only thing we didn’t like was the power lines next to the campground. Bathroom was clean. Good access to the water. We wished we had brought a car charger. The stars were great.

Very beautiful state park. We stopped due to the location beng half way to Silverwood and home to shorten the drive and have relaxing days. The park is relatively small but very pretty. The winds do pick up but when not blowing it is really nice. We will definitely stop in again.

Daroga State Park was a fun weekend camping spot for our family. Our RV site (25) had electrical and water hook up, no sewer but there was a dump station as you head out next to the rangers check in station. The park has a paved walking/biking path that’s about 3 miles. Along that path we found a rope swing, so take if you take the walk go in a swimsuit so you can jump in. Bathrooms were clean, showers were nice and hot. The roped off swim area was not bad, there was just a lot of dog poop, but that’s from irresponsible dog owners 😒. My kids played in the water area, there was patches of sand but mostly little rock’s, I do recommend water shoes, we enjoyed our SUP and the kids did too.
