Such a special place. The river is gorgeous and so fun to swim in. The amenities of Dean's, really added an extra sparkle to our stay. As for the negative comments I have seen, please remember this is a remote, small place that is meant to be have a campground feel. Obviously, if you are looking for the Ritz in the middle of the woods, this isn't it. But if you want to go to or take your family to a place that is fun, full of magic and bright stars, then this is the place for you. The sleeper cabins are rad. Sleep 5-6, have a mini fridge and microwave inside and a BBQ and picnic table outside, and the cabin is air conditioned. The pool is super cool and the hot tub is super hot, both are seasonal. This was my families second stay there, and we enjoyed it just as much if not more than the first time.

My stay at Dean Creek Resort Motel and Campground was amazing. The location is beautiful and peaceful, surrounded by nature and right near the redwoods, which makes it perfect for relaxing or camping. The property is well maintained and very clean, and the atmosphere feels welcoming from the moment you arrive. The staff was friendly and helpful, making check-in easy and making sure everything we needed was taken care of. The motel rooms and camping areas are comfortable and well kept, and the whole place has a calm, quiet vibe that makes it a great getaway. If you’re looking for a place to stay near the redwoods, whether you’re camping or staying in the motel, Dean Creek Resort is a great choice. I would definitely come back again.

Don't think "resort"... think about your second cousin Thelma who has a really cool place in the forest on a river who is happy to have you stay (and you "gift" her some money)... The room is huge, and clean. She even folds the towels nicely, but it's home decor rather than the gleaming bleached white sheets you would expect at a hotel. If your expectations are right, you'll love this stop.

Stayed in the RV area. The lady who checked us in was super nice. Location was next to a mostly dried up river that apparently has bacterial levels unsafe for pets. Our spot was between 4 cabins and a long row of permanent residents. It would have been nice to be separated from them, as some were quite loud. The old man directly next to us had a permanent wood shed behind his Rv. He went back to it and yelled something about “ well if they come back here they can pee on the cobwebs!” I have no idea, nor do I want to know what that was about. Then two rvs down from him we have a very lively couple and their friends. We named them Buck and Wanda. Wanda liked to yell a particular curse word every so often, and Buck had everyone in his yard hysterical over a 20 minute saga about an experience with a gas station corn dog! Mind you, we are parked at least two to three spots away from these people and we can hear much of the conversation clearly. Lots of hootin and hollerin went on until around 10 or 11. Thank God it was a weeknight. Buck seemed to go to bed while Wanda wandered the area looking for God knows what. So… an interesting experience. Decent convenient location, again the woman who checked us in was super friendly, but we prefer less zoo animals, more peace and quiet when we stop for the night.

It is a fun and lovely place. Our cabin faced the river and had a nice view from our picnic table. The office staff was very helpful despite our late check-in. They have a few cats in and around the office welcoming guests. 🐈 😻 The downside of the room was shower being lukewarm.

This place has obviously stayed the same for the last 3 decades, which is charming for a kid of the 90s. Plus, it's on the river. I frequently pass through the area and have previously stayed in the tiny cabins and dingy motel rooms without incident. I tried to stay in a campsite twice this summer. The first time, the site and adjacent areas was covered in trash, food, alcohol cans, and toys, along with some of the most concerning campfire practices I've seen to date. There were people actively in my campsite, like, in the small space between my car and tent. A small child peered through the screen in my tent while I was half dressed and trying to sleep. The bathrooms had no running water and the portapotty was overflowing so the only bathroom was up at the office. I returned weeks later in my truck with an insulated canopy and tinted windows, hoping to get some more privacy. However, I was denied a site because I did not have a either a tent, RV, or van. It turns out that my accoutrements were not classy enough for this exclusive facility, so I will not visit again.

First time but kids are already asking if we can go again!!! Sadly, the campground was having a water leak issue and the showers and sinks were down but no biggie. The owner was so accommodating, we used the shower and restroom attached to the hotel and there were portapotties closer just in case. For dishes, we sent the kids to wash in the river which they loved. Very very easy going vibe, our kids loved the river, putt putt golf and we loved the hot tub! There are RV residents and they were SO fun to talk to about the history of the area, really nice people. As well, the cutest mix of cats lounging and looking for pets around. Definitely, will be back next summer!!! Our new go to place! Next time we will do a deluxe queen for us with a lovely river view and stick all the teens in a sleeper. They loved having wifi and the mini fridge/microwave.

What a sweet hotel! The staff was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. the bed was comfortable and the back porch looked out on the lawn below, great for relaxing after a day of exploring. Clean basic rooms with super nice people, what more do you really want?

The grounds guy is kinda mean, he thinks he owns the river and without looking to see if you've paid to drive thru their gate to get to river,he comes sliding in on his four wheeler screaming at you to pay and or get out..I had already paid, I was down there for a few minutes and left. He kinda made me not want to be there . I've been going to that river spot for YEARS MANY YEARS, and now if I go like I did before, id have to pay100 $ a month to go hang out at the river..I thought that you don't own the river up to the high water mark. That you could walk up rivers as long as you stayed below the high water mark. does anyone know if that is true? All of dean creaks river beaches are under the high water mark so as long as you don't go thru d.c property to get to river( by the bridge to the dump is a good spot) he can't say anything to you . This town is going to crap in a handbag . It would be cool to go back to my watering hole again, and not be attacked by someone who isn't even a longtime local. I've been going there since the 1970s, never had a problem til now, it really sucks..but I guess some people have God complexes and enjoy making people miserable. Other than that dean creak rocks! Have a nice day!
