We arrived after dark and had a really hard time backing into our site, 16. It was tiny, unlevel and very difficult to navigate. Very steep areas all around the site. Super bright light outside and no soap in the bathroom. Narrow, (difficult to navigate with our 14' trailer) roads, not enough space to park/stay attached.

I almost don’t want to rate this because the best little gem will get popular and change. We love this place and come here 4 to 6 times a year. John, the camp host, is great along with John at the visitor center. The camp ground is clean and well kept. We love this campground because we love mountain biking at the Iron Mountain trails. There is no water at the campground site, but there is a place to get water.

Beautiful location and peaceful campground. Very convenient to the Iron Mountain Bike and Hike Trail system. The campground sites are rustic and don’t have water hookups. Not a big deal. Just fill your fresh water tank if you have an RV. Some sites are unlevel (this is also true at Degray Lake State Park and happens at some higher end RV resorts). I am chuckling at the people complaining about ants. They seem to have forgotten that they are in nature. There are going to be some bugs and other insects. They can also stop at any local Walmart and pick up some ant powder to put down. I camp with my dog. I can keep her out of it. I used to camp with four children I didn’t have to worry about them getting in to it because I kept an eye on them. I saw a snake there one time. Doesn’t mean I won’t be back. It means I was in nature and nature things like ants and snakes are going to be there. I will visit time and time again because I appreciate the opportunity to get away and relax in this beautiful and inexpensive campground. If you’re looking for a high end experience with budget friendly prices then this probably isn’t the campground for you. If you want a rustic and peaceful camping experience then you should be quite happy with this place.

ANTS, ANTS and MORE ANTS!! My husband booked us through a different sight that had all good reviews so we were unaware of the ant issue. Upon arriving, Friday evening, the host (who was very nice) advised us to go buy a certain ant spray and to cover the yard and our camper, so, we did. Everything was good within our confined sprayed area until about 4:45 Monday morning….ANTS all in our camper, including our bed. This campground has the potential to be wonderful with some updating. The roads are very narrow and I don’t believe the site size specs for the camper lengths are correct. There is not much yard around your camp area and not well laid out. Our view was nice and the swimming area was great, but the ant problem will assure that we will never return!! We have camped our entire lives and have never seen anything like it. Sad, because it was a beautiful area.

Well the lake is beautiful! This camp ground is rough, I advise not bringing children or pets here. Why? Ants!!!! Ants are in absolutely every nook and cranny you can think of and more. Have dog food in your camper? Ants will be there too. Have a crumb in your car due to having a snack? Ants there too. Want to sit outside in your lawn chairs? Ants every place you look. We spent close to $40 in any spray and couldn’t get ahead of the ants. Kids play ground, sounds fun but it’s so neglected. A good washing would do it wanders and maybe spray some poison to kill the weeds, move the boulders out from under the swings and it would be great! No water hook ups except for power. This camp ground could have great potential if someone was motivated to do the work. Oh by the way when booking the for our recent stay the website said booked up and only a couple spots available. This place is empty!!!! The website lied so be sure to actually call if you are wanting a particular spot. We will happily never be back. Thank you.

We were passing through so our stay was one night on a Monday! There were two campers besides ours and we stayed in site 40. A decent pull through site. Had a beautiful view ( the views were nice in most every site) and we were across from the restrooms which were clean and had nice hot showers. We saw some ants but nothing alarming. The place does need a little TLC but for one night it was peaceful and the views were very pretty!

Site 41 has an ants. I had an ant infestation, and it cut our camping trip very short. Got there at 7:30pm the night before and decided to leave at 4 am when I had ants crawling on me. Check your site before you park. I even sprayed everything, making contact with the ground.

The lot was very sloped and small. Many of the lots were infested with ants. We wound up moving to a vacant site. The music and noise from the boats was horrible. Not very crowded at all, but now I understand why.

Pretty, but flooded with light from the street light outside the bathroom. I understand you have to see, but do better ACOE. Campers were loud, coming in at almost midnight. Dogs barking, music playing. Ugh. Also, fire pit for the site next door is directly behind our parking spot. Weird layout and sooo much light!
