DeQueen Lake - COE/Bellah Mine

Overview

Bellah Mine Park, managed by the Army Corps of Engineers, is a scenic destination tucked away on the western shores of DeQueen Lake in southwest Arkansas. Known for its quiet atmosphere and lush forest canopy, this campground offers a classic outdoor experience where the focus is on nature and relaxation. Whether you are arriving for a weekend of fishing or a peaceful stopover, the park provides a well-maintained environment that showcases the natural beauty of the Ouachita Mountains foothills.

Location & Surroundings

Situated just north of De Queen, Arkansas, the park sits along the Rolling Fork River basin. The landscape is defined by rolling hills and dense woodlands, providing a sense of seclusion while remaining accessible. The lake itself spans over 1,600 acres, offering clear waters and numerous coves to explore. The heavily wooded sites provide excellent shade during the warm summer months and create a natural buffer between neighboring RV pads, allowing visitors to feel fully immersed in the pine and hardwood forest.

Amenities & Park Features

The campground features several dozen sites equipped with electric and water hookups, accommodating a range of RV sizes. The layout is designed to prioritize lake access and scenic views for guests. Key amenities include:

  • Concrete boat ramp for easy vessel launching.
  • Designated swimming beach and playground area.
  • Clean bathhouses with hot showers and flush toilets.

Visitors also have access to a central dump station and multiple picnic shelters, making it an ideal spot for group gatherings or quiet afternoon meals overlooking the water.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor recreation is the primary draw at Bellah Mine. Anglers frequently visit to catch largemouth bass and crappie, which are abundant in DeQueen Lake. Beyond the water, the surrounding area offers opportunities for birdwatching and hiking through the Arkansas timberlands. A short drive into the city of De Queen provides access to the Sevier County Museum, where travelers can explore local history, or visit the nearby Pond Creek National Wildlife Refuge for more extensive trail systems and diverse wildlife viewing.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an ideal choice for nature lovers and anglers who prefer a quiet, low-key environment over a busy commercial resort. It is perfectly suited for families looking for a safe place to swim and play, as well as budget-conscious RVers who appreciate the value and beauty typical of COE campgrounds. If you enjoy falling asleep to the sounds of the forest and spending your days on the water, Bellah Mine offers a peaceful retreat that captures the essence of rural Arkansas camping.

Very quiet and calm. Beautiful lake view regardless of the site your at. 4 Stars only because showers could use some cleaning and TLC. Most people here travel with RV so do not necessarily need to use the facilities but just wanted to share.

A very nice, clean, and well run C.O.E. campground. Most sites are elevated with stairs to picnic tables. A favorite for sure!

What's not to like it's beautiful good fishing. One of the better camping grounds around. I would definitely recommend this place if you love nice quiet place. We are or did stay in lot 7 which is next to the lake and if you prefer to be further away from the lake they have spots up higher.

We camped here to watch the 2024 eclipse. Friendly people, beautiful lake, clean bathrooms with toilet paper, and clean showers. The camp site had plenty of space the lay put was nice with the fire pit and grill one one side and a bench on the other.

This little campground is just perfect. If you catch it while it's not super crowded, it's wonderful. Playground for the kids, bathrooms, but not exactly great for swimming. Definitely awesome for staying overnight, building a fire and letting the kids explore a bit and play.

Nice place to camp, relax, launch a boat, and do a little walking. Built on the northern end of DeQueen Lake, Bella Mine Campground offers good vistas from a south facing hillside. Most of the facilities are in good shape, but the gazebo could use some help as it's wooden handrails are gone or weakened. The camping hookups are in good shape, and the public restrooms are clean. Visiting is free, but staying to camp or launch a boat will cost a fee. Nice quite place, and I recommend.

Second time here. Right on lake Dequeen. Some of the nicest RV spots you will find. Very friendly hosts. No sewer hook ups but RV waste dump is easily accessible from camp.
