DuBay Park

Overview

DuBay Park offers a serene escape for travelers looking to experience the natural beauty of Central Wisconsin. As a Portage County park, it provides a well-maintained setting on the expansive shores of Lake DuBay. This destination serves as a popular hub for outdoor enthusiasts who appreciate a peaceful environment where the forest meets the water. The park’s layout encourages a slow-paced lifestyle, making it a favorite for those who want to reconnect with nature while enjoying reliable facilities.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in Junction City, WI, the park is perfectly positioned along the 6,800-acre Lake DuBay, a massive reservoir on the Wisconsin River. The surrounding landscape is characterized by dense stands of hardwoods and pines, offering plenty of shade and a sense of privacy for campers. Its location between the larger communities of Stevens Point and Marshfield provides a quiet, rural atmosphere while remaining easily accessible for RVers traveling through the heart of the state.

Amenities & Park Features

The campground at DuBay Park is designed to accommodate various camping styles, offering several sites equipped with reliable electric hookups. Visitors have access to essential facilities, including clean restrooms and shower buildings that are conveniently located near the camping loops. For those bringing watercraft, the park features a paved boat launch and plenty of trailer parking. Families can also enjoy the designated swimming beach and a playground located within the spacious lakeside picnic area.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Life at this park revolves around the water, with the lake being a premier destination for musky and walleye fishing. Boating, kayaking, and jet skiing are common sights during the summer months. If you choose to venture out, the nearby city of Stevens Point offers the famous Green Circle Trail for hiking and biking, as well as several local craft breweries. The proximity to the Wisconsin River ensures that wildlife viewing and birdwatching are always rewarding and accessible activities.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an ideal fit for water sports enthusiasts and anglers who want immediate access to one of the region's largest lakes. It is also perfect for families who prefer the authentic, unpretentious vibe of a county-run facility over a commercial resort experience. An unusual campground with a few separated loops. One lakeside and 2 across the road. We camped across the road. Arrived on a Thursday afternoon. Only 2 others camping here. The sites are very large and level. The restrooms are positioned in the center, so close for everyone. Very roomy bathrooms. The showers were unisex from separate outside entrances. The too were large, but needs a place to set things down. Despite the curtain, the entire floor gets wet. It was a cold evening, so the walls also got wet from condensation. This made drying off and dressing a bit difficult. The camp filled up for Friday and Saturday but we were totally alone on Sunday night. So peaceful.

Everytime we've camped there it's been a great time. The nightly fee is reasonable along with the facilities.

This campground is beautiful. The sites are large and laid out well. Nice bath and shower houses. There is fishing and a great playground. If you like stargazing, this is an amazing location for that. The host is very friendly and helpful. I will definitely camp here again.

Personally, I don’t think it is as bad as other visitors have stated. For a campground, they have actual toilets, not port a potty’s. The sites are a little tight, but nothing to really complain about.

I've been coming here since I was very young. I don't remember how beautiful it is. Very well maintained and staff is great. It rained 4 of the 5 days and acorns were falling and I was set up next to a metal shed and the loud pops from them hitting roof were very entertaining. Some of the firepits need to be moved in my opinion because they are either behind camper or to far away and I do all my cooking outside. Got my eye set on a few sites for next year already.

Loved it, beautiful lake for fishing and nice little playground in our section. Showers are nice, big, and clean, as well as the bathrooms. There were lots of dogs, definitely dog friendly. They also have nice picnic area, for family gathering.

Great campground. My favorite in the state. Not a large one but that's the way we like it.
