Dunn's Falls Water Park
Overview
Dunn's Falls Water Park offers a unique blend of natural beauty and historical significance in the heart of Mississippi. The park’s centerpiece is a stunning 65-foot man-made waterfall that once powered a historic grist mill dating back to 1857. Travelers visiting this destination will find a peaceful atmosphere where the sounds of rushing water provide a constant, soothing backdrop to their stay. It is an ideal spot for those who appreciate preserved history integrated seamlessly into the natural outdoors, offering a glimpse into the region's industrial past while providing a quiet place to relax.
Location & Surroundings
Situated near Enterprise, MS, the park is nestled along the banks of the scenic Chunkey River. The local landscape is characterized by rugged bluffs and dense mixed forests, offering a stark contrast to the flatter regions of the state. This area serves as a critical natural habitat, providing a sense of seclusion while remaining easily accessible from major travel corridors like Interstate 59. The lush woodland setting creates a cool, shaded environment for campers, making it a refreshing retreat during the warmer southern months.
Amenities & Park Features
For RV travelers, the park provides functional sites equipped with water and electrical hookups to ensure a comfortable stay. While the setting is decidedly rustic and focused on nature, the park includes essential facilities such as a clean bathhouse and multiple picnic areas for family gatherings. Guests can explore the authentic 1850s grist mill, which was carefully relocated to the site to preserve its architectural integrity. The park also features designated swimming areas in the river and several scenic overlooks that are perfect for quiet reflection or morning coffee.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy canoeing and kayaking down the Chunkey River, which is a popular activity starting directly from the park's banks. Fishing for bass and bream is another favorite pastime for visitors looking to spend a slow afternoon by the water. For those willing to drive a short distance, the nearby city of Meridian offers the Mississippi Industrial Heritage Museum and various local dining options. Hiking trails throughout the park allow visitors to explore the steep cliffs and enjoy elevated views of the waterfall and the river winding below.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is best suited for nature photographers and history enthusiasts who want to experience Mississippi’s rural charm without the noise of a traditional resort. It is an excellent choice for families looking for a quiet weekend by the water or travelers seeking a scenic stopover. Because of its terrain and cozy layout, it is particularly ideal for small to mid-sized RVs and campers who prefer state-managed natural areas over high-traffic commercial parks. If you value a slow pace and historical exploration, this park will fit your travel style perfectly.

Pretty Spot, But Could Use Some Improvements Dunn’s Falls is a nice little place to visit if you’re in the area — the waterfall itself is beautiful and definitely worth seeing at least once. The sound of the water and the surrounding woods make it a peaceful spot for a short walk or a picnic. That said, the park feels a bit run-down and could use some updates. The facilities and picnic areas are limited, and there isn’t a whole lot to do beyond viewing the falls and walking around for a bit. It’s also not very well-marked — a few more signs and some general maintenance would make a big difference. Overall, Dunn’s Falls is worth a quick stop to enjoy the scenery, but it’s not really a full-day destination. With a little more care and attention, it could easily be a 5-star experience.

This was a nice surprise, came up here with my adult kids and went for a nice hike. The falls were not going do to it drying up do to season. Staff was really nice. Said that November, December and March is the best time to come for the Falls. It’s all rustic.

This is super cool. Awesome slice of preserved history and beautiful falls. The river is FAST and cold I would not recommend swimming, but dipping your feet in at the base of the falls is very nice. Also have fish! You can buy food for them too. $5 entry per person

Weather was absolutely beautiful. There were only 2 more cars of people, some kids. They were playing in the water. We ate outside at a picnic table. & sat in a swing & chatted & just enjoyed the day. We could hear the falls. But I didn't feel able to go up/down the steps. Still, it's a beautiful place!

Called this morning to make sure they would be open. She told me they would be. I told her I would be coming from West TN, so I should be there around 4. I drove from Milan, TN to see this fall and arrived at the gate at 4 to find a locked gate. No one had the decency to call and let me know not to waste my time or gas, that they would be closed. She basically lied to me this morning when I called. I would NOT recommend coming here because you can not trust what they say and it is not a short drive out there. As much as I love falls and drive great distances to see them, I will NOT waste any more time or gas on this one. I will discourage anyone from wasting time and gas on this place.

We LOVED it! Very cool place to check out and picnic at. Plenty table and grill areas. Trails to hike that are moderate enough for kids. The old mill was gorgeous and still has a lot of old pieces to check out. A few swings for kids to play on. All around we had a great trip. We spent close to 4 hours just roaming and picnicking.
