Earl Williamson Park (Caddo Parish Park)
Overview
Earl Williamson Park serves as a premier destination for travelers looking to experience the unique landscape of Northern Louisiana. Located in Caddo Parish, this 40-acre park offers a peaceful setting right on the shores of Caddo Lake. Unlike many strictly commercial campgrounds, this public park provides a balance of recreational space and natural preservation, making it a staple for those exploring the Ark-La-Tex region. It serves as an accessible entry point to the water for locals and visiting RVers alike.
Location & Surroundings
Situated in the heart of Oil City, LA, the park is defined by its proximity to the water. The surrounding area is famous for its hauntingly beautiful moss-draped cypress trees that rise directly from the lake. The terrain is relatively flat, providing easy navigation for larger rigs. While the park is close to local services in Oil City, it maintains a secluded feel where the sounds of the lake and local birdlife dominate the atmosphere.
Amenities & Park Features
The RV facilities at Earl Williamson Park include sites equipped with full hookups including water, electricity, and sewer services. For those who enjoy life on the water, the park provides:
- Multiple paved boat launches for easy lake access.
- A sprawling fishing pier that reaches deep into the water.
- Dedicated picnic areas with grills and tables.
Families will appreciate the on-site playgrounds and designated swimming areas, while clean restrooms and shower facilities provide the essential comforts needed for an extended stay.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Fishing is the primary draw here, with Caddo Lake being world-renowned for its bass and crappie populations. Just a short distance from the park entrance, history buffs can visit the Louisiana State Oil and Gas Museum, which details the region's industrial heritage. For those willing to drive a bit further, the vibrant dining and entertainment scene of Shreveport is less than 30 miles away, offering a perfect day trip for travelers.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is an ideal fit for avid anglers and nature photographers who want immediate access to the labyrinthine waters of Caddo Lake. It is also well-suited for families seeking a budget-friendly lakeside vacation with plenty of space for children to play. If you prefer a scenic public park environment over a crowded private resort, the relaxed pace of this Caddo Parish gem will align perfectly with your travel style.

Nice clean park with clean restrooms. Spent one night here ($12) with water and power. The water hydrants are very odd, you turn it on and the water doesn't come out the hose connector. It comes out on the under side and you have to pull down hard on the ring around where the water is coming out, and then it will come out the correct place to hook up the hose.

We stayed in the campground, during the off season, end of summer. Plenty of available sites right by the water. Felt safe as there's a sheriff's office right at the entrance of the park. Reasonably priced. We generally only do paid campgrounds for overnights here & there, but for $12/night, this afforded us the ability to stay longer. This was a great escape from the summer heat & 50AMP AC. Utilities all worked great. Big Rig friendly as we are a 43' 5th Wheel. Curtis the host was wonderful & friendly. He welcomed us, sold us some fresh produce, & one morning when he came home with an abundance of fish from fishing the lake, he gave us some. The only reason I knocked down from 5 stars is the private showers are in need of special attention. But all in all, a great stay. We would come again.

Awesome place that I thoroughly enjoyed the camp grounds and park features. The lake is always a joy to visit and really enjoyed something that share my family name very much.

This is a wonderful park. Pet friendly. Kid friendly. Swimming, fishing, camping, RV hook ups and more. Short drive from Shreveport is well worth the natural surroundings, well kept grounds, and very clean restroom/shower facilities. Incredibly well priced. Camping host Mr. Curtis is top notch!

I cannot say enough positive things about this amazing place! It is a true gem and I am so appreciative of the awesomeness that all I can say as a full-time traveler is, if you haven’t stayed here, you are truly missing out! There is a beautiful lake with its own movie (called “Caddo Lake,” FYI lol), really great RV spots with water/electric for only $12/night, frisbee golf, and lots of beautiful birds, butterflies, and flowers! There are red wasps but they’re not aggressive, just freaky-looking. I love it here and we will definitely stay again if we ever are traveling through this area again! The people who manage the park are very nice and everyone was super friendly and respectful! No one ever bothered us except the wasps and even they were not that bad. Overall, 10/10 would come again!

This is a lovely small park with some dirt/gravel spots on the lake and some nice spacious paved spots off the lake. Big Rig Friendly with several spots to accommodate a 40ft Class A and a jeep. Water and Electric only with Dup Station. Although it can be done, I would detach tow before driving around the park. Sheriff substation at the entrance added a secure feeling! 👍
