Flathead/Swan Lake

Overview

The Flathead/Swan Lake KOA Holiday offers a premier camping experience in the heart of Northwest Montana. This park serves as a bridge between the rugged beauty of the Rocky Mountains and the modern conveniences travelers expect from a high-quality resort. Surrounded by towering pines and clear mountain air, the park provides a peaceful atmosphere that captures the spirit of Bigfork while maintaining easy access to the region’s most famous natural landmarks.

Location & Surroundings

Located just minutes from the charming village of Bigfork, the park sits in a prime geographical pocket between the massive Flathead Lake and the serene Swan Lake. This unique positioning provides guests with a variety of waterfront experiences, from the vast horizons of the largest natural freshwater lake west of the Mississippi to the quiet waters of the Swan River valley. The surrounding Mission Mountains provide a dramatic backdrop for every campsite, offering a true sense of Montana wilderness.

Amenities & Park Features

The facility is designed specifically for modern RVers, offering high-speed fiber optic Wi-Fi and spacious pull-through sites that can easily accommodate large rigs. Families often congregate around the heated outdoor pool and hot tub or spend time competing at the on-site mini-golf course. Other practical features include a well-stocked camp store, a dedicated dog park for four-legged travelers, and clean laundry facilities, ensuring a comfortable long-term stay or a quick overnight refresh.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

While the park itself is full of activity, the surrounding area is a significant draw. A short drive north leads to the west entrance of Glacier National Park, making this an ideal base camp for day trips to the Going-to-the-Sun Road. In Bigfork, visitors can enjoy professional theater at the Bigfork Summer Playhouse or explore the Wild Mile of the Swan River. Boating, fishing, and kayaking opportunities are nearly endless on the nearby glacial lakes.

Who This Park Is Best For

This destination is perfect for family vacationers who want a mix of outdoor adventure and on-site entertainment. It is equally suited for Glacier-bound travelers looking for a reliable, amenity-rich home base that avoids the heavy crowds found immediately surrounding the national park gates. If you value high-speed connectivity and resort-style comforts while remaining immersed in the Montana woods, this park is an excellent fit for your travel style.

Wow, what a great experience! My boys loved visiting and talking to the ranger. A must visit if you have kids. They each went home with a whole bag of goodies (coloring book, crayons, stickers, buffs, baseball, etc.). They were so excited and couldn't stop talking about smokey the bear 🐻!

There office is under construction so you can't go in but we called to get my lifetime military pass and he came out and checked my ID and got us taken care of. Very friendly staff.
