I love this place. It’s where I go for peace and the solitude of beauty and nature. Shelter 2 is my favorite road in the fall. When my mom comes to visit each year in her RV she stays in the campground and is very happy. We had y daughter’s senior pictures taken here because you can’t beat the beauty!

This place is gorgeous! We took the paddle board out and went swimming in the lake. I wouldn’t recommend taking your dog swimming here unless it’s a week day when it isn’t so busy. We are definitely gonna have to come back to go on some of the hiking trails.

It's a very nice quiet park. No admittance fee. Lots of camper spaces and tent spaces. There's a beach and swimming. Lots of hiking trails that are easy to bike as well. Lots of wildlife and great fishing with lots of boat entrances around the lake.

Great weekend tent camping here. Campground hosts were very nice, we had no problem getting our firewood with them or getting water as we were in a primitive site. The bathrooms were clean and well stocked with toilet paper. The beach to campground trail was the only trail we had time to hike but it was well taken care of and was an easy hike for our youngish family. (Kids aged 7 and 13) Beach was clean and freshly raked, the water was like about most lakes in Iowa, but it was refreshing and our kids loved it nonetheless. Our family loved all the wildlife we saw while at the park. Multiple separate sightings of deer with their fawns, a couple young bucks, and lots of squirrels. We'll definitely be back again in the future.

A very enjoyable stop today. I saw several people fishing from the banks and one trailer parked near a boat ramp leading me to believe that someone was out on the water (although I didn’t actually see them or their boat). There was also a nice lakeside trail. Unfortunately, it didn’t appear to be conducive to wheelchair traffic but I would have loved it before my mobility issues!
