We came to this campground for a quick getaway since we only live 30 minutes away. We arrived Thursday night with no issues. My husband left in the morning for work and wasn't returning till that evening. We were at site 59, next to the water. Around 10ish the next morning, I noticed that the water was rising and about 45 minutes later it was surrounding my camper up to my cafs. I went to the office to get help and see if they could use a tractor to pull me out. Staff in the office acted like they could care less. Zero concern on there part even when I told them I was by myself. A staff member said she had to ask the manager if they could move me. I ran back to camper to get my dog out. My camper was completely surrounded by water. Fortunately, a friend came with our truck and helped pull me out. I never heard from any manager or staff. Know one came to help us or see if we were OK. Absolutely terrible customer service. Why would you allow anyone on those sites knowing the tide was going to be higher than normal. Jump to Saturday and I get a call asking if we were checking in. The office said they had know idea there was an issue. Absolutely unbelievable! I will not be back.

This is a phenomenal place to camp with kids. They really do cater to activities for kids, with two pools, bounce pad, playground, ice cream shop, arcade room, special activities for kids. Having said that, if you're looking for a quiet place to relax, this isn't it on the weekends, just FYI. After everyone left on Sunday however, it was quite peaceful. Things I loved: the fishing point with the Adirondack chairs and huge fire pit areas. The crabbing piers. The kids running around making memories. River Mutt ice cream. Things I didn't love: the pool was dirty and cloudy, and the tiles didn't look like they'd been cleaned.....ever. I saw two little girls writing their names in the crud that was adhered to the tiles. 🤢 The bath houses don't look like anyone cleans them either. Probably won't cross it off our list though, because they really seem to be trying to make it a great family place. If the pool and bath houses were cleaned, I couldn't fault the place, especially for families with kids.

We’ve come here a handful of times. We’ve had great experiences as well as bad. My kids love the water slides and the jumping pillow. They also do activities for the kids which is great! I feel like they used to do more but still ok. However, this camp ground needs some TLC. The bathrooms are dark so you can hardly see. They’re also very dirty. We love this campground over all but would just love to see some renovations. We also love the ice cream shop. They have great options! P.S. the whole campground is very much walkable. Just bring some walking shoes you don’t need a golf cart.

I had the best get away with my friend. Girls trip was a success. Thank you so much Corey for your help in booking a weekend to remember. This was the best mini vacation where it felt like home, due to the management. I will be back and recommending Camp Cardinal to all my RV friends. Corey made us feel comfortable in assisting us getting set up. I have visited many camp grounds and by far, he has been the best manager I have encountered. Thank you so much for everything. What a great team.

We visited Camp Cardinal in Hayes, VA, and had a fantastic time. The kids loved the bounce pad, and the pool is right next to it, making it easy to go between the two. Best of all, River Mutt Ice Cream is just steps away. It was the perfect treat after swimming and bouncing, with lots of great flavors. We also enjoyed some peaceful fishing on the river. Camp Cardinal is a great spot for a fun, family-friendly day. We’ll definitely be back

We absolutely loved our stay at the newly purchased Camp Cardinal. Before staying, I had many communications with staff members - super friendly and knowledgeable. Our space was pretty big... could fit any size RV. We were by the water, and it was so peaceful! It was February - but we loved it. We had a minor problem, and I called the number provided, and maintenance come and took care of it right away! They were busy the whole time we were there, making upgrades to the newly purchased park. There are SO many amenities in this park - surely busy in the summer months!! We opted for a concrete pad, picnic table, and fire ring. Wi-Fi and cable are also included. Everything was super clean!

This is a great family campground. Everyone there is so nice and helpful. Been a few times and always had a great time . Tons of stuff for the kids to do and adults too . Between the water park and activities the kids are worn out at the end of the day. Well 3 month later we found out that they only book 3 night stays online . If you want 2 nights - check in on Friday and check out on Sunday you have to call and they now charge you an extra 25% for a 2 night stay . Well it was a good time but for a short weekend stay with the family we are done here. Time to find a new family stop

Easy check in for off season. We haven't been on season yet but looks like they have tons of stuff for kids to do. Swimming pool, water park area, fishing etc. Very nice location. Can't wait to go in the summer

This is a great campground. We have went here for probably the last 6 years atleast once a year. It has changed since it is not a yogi bear anymore but still has plenty of amenities. Every time we go back they have done something new. Hope they still have great Halloween rides. It did change management. Hopefully it stays well maintained. I would recommend this place especially if you have small kids but is great for all ages.
