Gordon Dam Park

Overview

Gordon Dam Park offers a peaceful retreat nestled in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. Situated on the St. Croix Flowage, this Douglas County park provides a scenic backdrop for travelers seeking a natural escape. The park is well-regarded for its quiet atmosphere and accessibility to water-based recreation, making it a staple for those exploring the region’s timberlands and waterways. It captures the essence of a traditional Northwoods experience where the focus remains on the beauty of the surrounding environment rather than commercial flash.

Location & Surroundings

Located just a few miles west of Gordon, WI, the park is surrounded by the vast Douglas County Forest. The landscape is defined by dense stands of pine and hardwood trees that border the expansive waters of the flowage. Visitors will find themselves immersed in a habitat rich with local wildlife, including bald eagles and loons. The proximity to the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway adds to the geographical appeal, offering miles of protected shoreline and pristine natural vistas that feel miles away from any urban bustle.

Amenities & Park Features

The campground features 30 well-spaced sites, many of which provide electric hookups suitable for various RV sizes. While the setting is rustic, the park offers essential comforts including a boat launch and a fishing pier for easy water access. Families often appreciate the on-site playground and the designated swimming beach during the warmer months. You will also find vault toilets and potable water access points throughout the grounds. Each site is equipped with a fire ring and picnic table, encouraging classic outdoor evenings under the stars.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Anglers frequently visit Gordon Dam Park to target walleye, northern pike, and panfish within the flowage. Beyond the water, the area is a hub for ATV and UTV trail riding, with direct access to extensive county trail systems. For those willing to drive a short distance, the St. Croix River offers exceptional canoeing and kayaking opportunities. Nature enthusiasts might also enjoy birdwatching or exploring the local hiking trails that wind through the surrounding forest, providing a deep dive into Wisconsin’s rugged northern landscape.

It's a nice small park for camping. It has a playground, outside bathrooms, there is a dam and you can go fishing.

Confusing check in and directions. Phone doesnt let u talk to anyone. Employees no where in site for wood or questions. Vault toilets were gross. Small sites but they were level. No sewer except a dump station .5mi away. Could be better but priced right.
