Green River KOA

Overview

The Green River KOA Journey offers a refreshing oasis in the heart of the high desert landscape. Known for its abundance of mature shade trees, this park provides a cool, welcoming respite for travelers navigating the arid stretches of eastern Utah. It balances the convenience of a roadside stop with the quality features and reliable service expected of a KOA, making it an ideal basecamp for exploring the region’s famous red rock formations and expansive wilderness.

Location & Surroundings

Situated just off Interstate 70, the park provides seamless access for cross-country travelers while remaining nestled in the quiet, scenic surroundings of the town of Green River. The park is framed by distant desert plateaus and sits near the banks of the historic Green River. This location serves as a critical junction for those traveling between the San Rafael Swell and the major national parks to the east, offering a significantly quieter pace than the busier tourist hubs nearby.

Amenities & Park Features

Travelers will find various ways to unwind, whether they are staying for a quick overnight stop or an extended desert adventure. The park features long pull-thru RV sites with full hookups that are specifically designed to accommodate big rigs. For recreation, guests can enjoy a seasonal swimming pool, a fun mini-golf course, and bike rentals for exploring the local area. Pet owners will appreciate the dedicated KampK9 dog park, while the on-site general store ensures you have all the essentials for your journey.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

This park is an excellent jumping-off point for outdoor enthusiasts looking to experience Utah's natural wonders. You are within a reasonable driving distance of the iconic vistas found in Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park. Locally, visitors often explore the John Wesley Powell River History Museum or take a short trip to see the unique, mushroom-like rock formations at Goblin Valley State Park. The nearby river also offers opportunities for scenic rafting trips and calm afternoon walks along the water.

Who This Park Is Best For

This location is ideal for national park adventurers looking for a quieter and more manageable alternative to the crowded campgrounds in Moab. It is also a perfect fit for families traveling with pets, thanks to the ample green space, shaded sites, and recreational activities provided on-site. Whether you are a big-rig owner needing a reliable pull-thru site or a road tripper seeking a comfortable desert retreat, this park fits a wide variety of travel styles and needs.

Best bathrooms yet! Amazing. Super clean laundry room and pristine campground. We came on a Sunday and the office was closed so figuring out which spot was ours was a bit challenging. It was off-season so it wasn’t a problem. This is a very convenient location when traveling between the Big 5. The train is loud but that’s why we have earplugs! The town of Green River is old but cute and looks like it’s making a comeback. Thanks for the great stay. We see you next time.

The camp hosts were so kind and accommodating. This was just a pit stop for us but they made it so warm and welcoming and really went above and beyond. The recently put in a new bath house which was extremely nice and clean. The astroturf on the site was a pleasant surprise and you could really tell the time and energy the camp hosts put into it. The woman in the office though was extremely rude to my husband. When he asked about why our campsite was missing a picnic table he was told the site didn’t get one, which was a lie. The camp hosts went above and beyond and once they get rid of their problems this will be such a perfect stop on the road.

Nice clean park. It doesn’t look like there are any full time residents living in the park. We didn’t interact with the staff as we arrived after they closed. Our site information was in the after hours check bin. In the morning prior to arrival I received a text stating if we came in after hours to text the number and the codes would be sent. Far enough off the I-70 that there wasn’t any truck noise. Train in the distance but not disturbing. Other guest were pleasant. We will definitely stay here again.

The three of us and our cat stayed in a cabin. Although there were not sheets on the beds, the mattresses and the bed were so clean. The cabin itself smells a bit like freshly chopped wood (which was wonderful) and was absolutely spotless. Staff were very friendly and helpful while the area was quiet and peaceful. Absolutely will be going again and recommending to anyone on a road trip! + laundry rooms and clean/stocked bathrooms with showers

Great place! Super cozy and new feeling cabin. The bathrooms and showers were so clean all the time and the location was very quiet and peaceful. The swinging bench in front of the cabin was so cute. The staff were incredibly nice and helpful. For people renting the cabins, they don’t come with any sheets. Great for a glamping experience. Also, really great clean pool with a fun slide and a little playground for the kids.

Super clean and well maintained KOA. My kids loved the playground and my dog loved the dog park. The patios are lovely and the staff is super nice. We will definitely be back.

We had the 2 room cabin for a week, and enjoyed our stay. The heat and A/C unit functioned however at the time of our trip the WiFi only worked for the first 1 of 7 days. When in town be sure to try Ray's tavern for some good ole bbq grub.

One of the best KOA campgrounds we've stayed at. Plenty of room.

Glenn was so helpful and nice from the moment we checked in until we left. Dog run is large, and comfortable people chairs are inside too. Patio that came with our spot was extra large and had nice tables and chairs.
