Hadley's Point Campground
Overview
Hadley's Point Campground offers a classic Maine experience for travelers seeking a peaceful retreat on Mount Desert Island. This family-owned and operated park focuses on providing a quiet camping atmosphere that contrasts with the bustling downtown area. With a variety of site types ranging from primitive tent areas to full hookup RV sites, it caters to different camping styles. The grounds are characterized by mature trees and well-maintained facilities, ensuring a comfortable stay for those visiting the Downeast region.
Location & Surroundings
The park is situated on the northern end of the island, making it an ideal basecamp for exploring the coast. One of the highlights of this location is the short walk to Hadley Point Beach, a public saltwater beach perfect for launching kayaks or watching sunsets. Because the campground is located away from the primary tourist traffic of the village, guests enjoy a wooded and serene environment. It provides the perfect balance of accessibility and seclusion for those touring Bar Harbor.
Amenities & Park Features
Guests have access to several conveniences designed to make long or short stays enjoyable. The park features a heated swimming pool, which is a popular spot for families after a day of hiking. Practical amenities include a well-stocked camp store, clean laundry facilities, and a playground for children. For those traveling without a tow vehicle, the Island Explorer shuttle stops right at the campground, offering free transportation to Acadia National Park and various island destinations.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
The primary draw is the proximity to Acadia National Park, located just minutes away. Visitors can spend their days traversing the Park Loop Road, hiking Cadillac Mountain, or biking the carriage roads. Downtown Bar Harbor is a short drive away, offering local seafood, boutique shopping, and whale-watching tours. For a more relaxed afternoon, the nearby local lobster pounds provide an authentic Maine dining experience just a few miles from your campsite.
Who This Park Is Best For
This campground is an excellent choice for families and couples who prefer a quieter pace while still being close to the action. It is particularly well-suited for Acadia enthusiasts who want to avoid the congestion of downtown but still require easy access to park entrances. If you value a shaded, natural setting with reliable amenities like Wi-Fi and shuttle service, Hadley's Point provides a functional and scenic home base for your Maine adventure.

This is the second time staying at Hadley's Point Campground and we love this place, the amenities make this place feel like we're in a hotel. They have the nice little shop out front where you can buy anything you need, the restrooms and showers are always in mint conditions, you can even do laundry here, and they have great wifi coverage. Acadia National Park is a 10 minute drive and Bar Harbor a 15 minute drive. My favorite campsite to date!

We rented a cabin w our two dogs for 4 nights. Check in process was smooth & welcoming. The property is well maintained, landscaped & even has fall decor. There’s cabins were far enough apart to allow for privacy & quiet. There are bath houses w showers & restrooms for the campers (new & spotless). The laundry room was well appointed and made drying wet clothes from rain easy. The staff is very helpful. They delivered firewood, kindling and ice we bought at the office to our cabin. They were always available for questions/suggestions & after hours as needed. A couple of things to note: bring all your own linens or order from camp office prior, have quarters ready for the shower hot water (50 cents for 7 mins & was hot). Suggest bringing camp chairs for cabins to use indoors or around camp fire ring. Bring your cooler (office sells ice) and any outdoor cookers (grill, Blackstone). You can use on the picnic table on front patio. Bring extra small garbage bags to empty ur trash in dumpster as needed. We had an amazing time & can’t wait to return next year!

One of the best campgrounds I’ve been too. Not only is the location perfect, the facilities are the nicest and most well kept I’ve seen. From the check in process to the escort it was top notch. The shuttle into bar harbor was also awesome. We didn’t need to really use our truck to go places. I will definitely be back to Hadley’s whenever I camp in Bar Harbor in the future.

We enjoyed our stay at Hadley’s Point Campground. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our site was well maintained and easy to access. The restrooms and showers were new and clean! Note: Take the bus! We drove into Acadia National Park only to find that EVERY parking lot in the park was FULL! In each parking lot we were driving very slowly in a procession of cars waiting for someone to pull out of their space. Then we discovered the bus system! We drove back to Hadley’s Point and took the #1 bus to Acadia Hulls Cove Visitor Center and from there we took the #4 park loop bus. This allowed us to see everything we wanted to see with ease and comfort! Either the campground staff didn’t mention this when we checked in or we weren’t paying attention. But it made a HUGE difference in our experience!

Hadley's campground was terrific! The bathrooms are very clean and have individual rooms for bathrooms and showers so you have privacy. You can catch the free bus shuttle directly from the campground to bar harbor and Acadia National Park. We walked a half mile to Hadley's point beach which is an amazing small and beautiful beach. There are also two amazing lobster shacks across the street as well. We would stay here again without a doubt!! My only suggestion would be to keep the laundry facilities open 24 hours instead of the office hours only.

Rented a cabin there for a couple nights. Was in town for a wedding. Cabin was clean. You will need some quarters for the shower (50 cents for 7 minutes) and you will need to bring your own bedding (not supplied) Was nice and quiet. No complaints.

We stayed here for our first visit to see Acadia and Bar Harbor. It was convenient that it was on the free shuttle route so you could get around the park and Bar Harbor easy without fighting for a parking space. I was really impressed with how clean and maintained everything was. The showers and laundry facilities are new and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. Overall it was a great camping experience for a great price. I would only suggest bringing your own roll of quarters, they don't have a change machine for laundry.

The staff was great and very organized and helpful. Bathrooms and showers were always clean and stocked. Showers and bathrooms didn't have any hooks or stools to set things on. Laundry area is clean and roomy. Needed lots of quarters but no change machines. Camp sites are closer together where we were but still felt open and spacious. Conveniently located, right off a main road but not noisy.

I have camped here twice and both times have been excellent! The campground is extremely well maintained. The location is great super easy to get to Bar Harbor and Acadia. The staff is super friendly. The bathrooms are super clean. I could not recommend camping here enough. I will be back in the future.

We stayed 5 nights at Hadley’s Point and had a great visit. Perfect staging point to visit Acadia NP and Bar Harbor. It’s a great location, the staff are friendly and eager to help with any issues. The sites are fairly level, power/water/sewer connections were in good repair. The bath houses are new and in great condition, well kept. The pool is awesome. 12ft deep with a diving board. Island explorer shuttle stop is convenient but we only tried to ride it once and it was 40 minutes late. All paved roads and spots have good spacing. Camp store has the necessities but not everything you might forget to bring. Wood is available for $5.25 per bundle. The only downside all week was about day 3 we started to get wafts of septic on the breeze. The staff already had a honey dipper on way, but it didn’t fix the issue completely. We were in the D loop and I think we just got unlucky with a rare issue and breeze blowing our way. Would definitely stay here again.
