Hanna Park Campground

Overview

Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park offers a truly unique coastal experience nestled within the city limits of Jacksonville, Florida. Spanning over 450 acres of diverse landscape, this park successfully balances pristine beachfront access with a lush, deeply wooded campground. It is a premier destination for travelers seeking a natural escape that remains connected to urban conveniences. The park is widely celebrated for its preservation of native Florida ecosystems, ranging from shifting coastal dunes to dense maritime forests draped in Spanish moss.

Location & Surroundings

Situated directly on the Atlantic coast, the park is perfectly positioned between Mayport and the vibrant Atlantic Beach community. The campground sites are tucked away under a heavy canopy of majestic live oaks and palmettos, providing natural shade and a sense of privacy from neighboring campers. The soothing sound of the ocean is a constant backdrop for travelers, as the sites are located just a short walk or bike ride away from 1.5 miles of white sandy beaches and the crashing waves of the Atlantic Ocean.

Amenities & Park Features

The campground provides nearly 300 designated sites, most of which are equipped with water and electricity hookups to accommodate various RV styles and sizes. While the environment feels wonderfully rustic, visitors enjoy access to modern necessities including multiple restroom facilities, hot showers, and a centralized dump station. Beyond the campsites, the park features a 60-acre freshwater lake ideal for fishing and paddle sports, alongside a seasonal splash pad and playground area for family-friendly afternoon fun.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Adventure is never far away at Hanna Park, which boasts over 15 miles of multi-use trails that wind through the maritime forest for hikers and mountain bikers of all skill levels. Surfing enthusiasts can head to the north end of the beach to experience "The Poles," a legendary break recognized as one of the best surfing spots in the region. For those looking to explore further, the historic Mayport shrimp docks and the St. Johns River Ferry are minutes away, offering a taste of local maritime culture.

Who This Park Is Best For

Hanna Park is an exceptional choice for active families and outdoor adventurers who prioritize natural beauty and recreational variety over luxury resort amenities. It is especially well-suited for surfers, mountain bikers, and birdwatchers who want immediate access to the trails and the shore. Because of its dense foliage and winding interior roads, it appeals most to those seeking a serene, wooded retreat where the primary focus is on the environment and the great outdoors.

Nice campground close the the beach (walkable or bike). Lots of hiking trails and bike trails through the woods (dirt paths). Campground showers show there age and the era they were built, they are Usable. I would stay again. Morning beach walks are great. Close to other activities in Jacksonville.

2nd week in on a month stay, I like it for the most part. Although we have not used the bathrooms or showers, we did use the laundry which was adequate, I have three dislikes, though they can be dealt with, 1. The clearances driving in and out, sharp narrow drives, low hanging limbs and trees. 2. The reviews state some sights may flood if it rains, and the others appear to be absurdly unlevel, thats a 29inch bike in the picture 3. The sewer connections at every site are also absurdly high with an elbow at the top

Hannah Park Campground was a really pleasant experience overall. Check-in was easy and smooth, and our campsite was ready right on time, which made settling in stress-free. The grounds were very clean and well maintained, and it was clear that care is taken to keep everything orderly and welcoming. The bathrooms were clean as well, though a couple of additional shower heads would definitely help during busier times. What stood out most was how quiet it was. It felt peaceful and relaxing, and no one bothered us, which made it easy to truly unwind and enjoy being outdoors. There’s so much to do without it feeling overwhelming. You can fish, hike, bring your own bike or rent one, and it’s pet-friendly as long as pets are kept on a leash, which is a big plus. One of the coolest parts is the location. Having both a lake and the ocean nearby is pretty special and gives you options depending on your mood. The views throughout the park are endless and beautiful, making it easy to slow down and take everything in. Hannah Park is a great place to disconnect, enjoy nature, and just be present for a while.

We liked Hanna Park alot. Beach access is an easy walk. Really nice (we did) 3-mi AM walks with our dog. Sites are in the shade of the many palm trees. There's a lake there too (no swimming). Restaurants, grocery, etc. all within a short drive outside this gated campground. There is a laundry bldg there which is adequate. Sites offered 3-way hookup. We arrived in the dark -- we wouldn’t do that again. Sites placement is (could be considered) "cozy", with some offering more privacy than others. Good vibes here, with a mix of young families, couples, and full-timers. We booked 5 nites and would do a full week next time.👍👍

The park is absolutely beautiful. It's been quiet for our stay and the campground host was extremely courteous. The bath house could use some extra attention as the showers were not great clean wise, but it is a campground, not the Marriott. The ocean view was wondrous as was the drive through the park. We stayed in cabin #11 and it was large enough for a queen size air mattress plus our cooler and two chairs. The screened in porch is a very nice touch. Each cabin also has an air conditioner and ceiling fan as well as a broom and dust pan for quick cleanup before you leave.

We have been to the sister campground Huguenot dozens of times and lucked out this weekend and last minute we reserved a spot for Labor Day weekend. Our first time here. LOVED the privacy in the sites, the canopies of trees, beach was not even a five minute drive. All of the staff were friendly and not overbearing. Our campsite was #97. Not a pull through spot but it is on the corner which was nice. It was a beautiful spot. We will definitely be back. I told my husband that it’s my new favorite campground!!

We absolutely loved this gem of a park & campsite. Happened upon it via Google Maps at the end of a long day on an interstate trip, made the same-day reservation via email that was followed up by a phone call from Kenya, who couldn’t have been more helpful and nicer to an out-of-state newbie. Arrived 15 minutes before the gate closed and immediately appreciated that their hook up pedestals are lighted so that you can see in the pitch black darkness. Awoke the next morning to a jungle-like oasis with great vegetation screening between sites even though they are stacked alongside one another. Appreciated the overhead canopy that kept our RV cooler during the heat of the day. The wildlife, especially at dawn/dusk at the lake, was incredible! Our dog also absolutely loved the hiking trails and the beach (his first seaside experience). All the staff and hosts we encountered were very friendly. All of our neighbors respected quiet hours. And there was a nightly patrol by the security contractor. Water pressure was steady 35-40 psi even on a busy Saturday when the park filled up. Bathrooms are a bit dated, but clean, and got serviced every morning that we were there. I reported to a camp host that 2 showers were not working after an act of vandalism one night, and they were back in service the following morning. In sum, we liked it so much we extended our stay to include the weekend, and can’t wait to come back again

We really enjoyed all the park has to offer. We rode our ebikes everywhere. Just wish they had more bike racks. No golf carts allowed, which was nice. Our camp site was not big enough to let our awning out completely, but we made it work. Having the lake to go kayaking was extremely nice. It will get you closer to the birds. It was relaxing. They have paddle boats & kayaks you can rent, but we had our own. Make sure to bring those life jackets. We took many ebike rides on the beach. Once in the morning and once at night. Spent time looking for shells, seeing sun sets, & a couple of sun rises. There's a Cuban food truck during the weekend. The food was amazing and so worth the price. There's a general store, a nature center, a couple of play grounds, splash pad, laundry facilities, hiking trails, bike trails, picnic area, picnic tables, grills & a bunch of host if you have issues, which we did not. If family oriented is what you are looking for, then I would highly suggest this camp ground.

A nice, older park very close to the beach. The campground was in the shade of the maritime hammock. It was noticeably cooler under this canopy. The roads, especially in each row, are two way but very narrow. Take your time as you navigate your way to/from your campsite especially with your RV. The bathhouses were older, but clean. You can walk or drive to the beach, lake, and splash zone. There are several mountain bike loops and a hiker only loop. There was a campground store. There was also a nature center but it was only open on Friday and Saturday from 1:00-4:00 PM. On Saturday and Sunday there was a Cuban food truck next to the campground store. The food was excellent.

We stayed an entire week with our camper. We had a great time! There is a ton of activities to do and everything is super pet/dog friendly! The beach was very clean as well as the whole park. All of the staff were super kind and helpful. The lake area had a ton of birds and great fishing. Our only critique would be when it rains, the roads on the campground flood. Everything gets very muddy, including the campsites. I think some gravel or concrete pads would help this issue a lot. We would definitely stay here again though!
