Guests can expect a friendly environment that prioritizes ease of access and essential services for a stress-free stay in the Big Sky State.

Location & Surroundings

Situated just north of Montana’s capital city, this park offers a strategic location near Interstate 15. While the setting provides the convenience of easy highway access, it remains close to the natural beauty of the Missouri River valley. The surrounding landscape features rolling hills and wide-open vistas, giving visitors a true taste of the local wilderness. Its proximity to downtown Helena ensures that groceries, local dining, and fuel are never more than a short drive away from your campsite.

Amenities & Park Features

The facility is well-equipped to handle big rigs with long pull-thru sites and full hookups including 50-amp service. During the summer months, the seasonal outdoor pool serves as a popular gathering spot for families to cool off after a day on the road. Travelers with pets will appreciate the dedicated KampK9 dog park, which allows four-legged companions to run off-leash in a fenced area. Additional on-site conveniences include high-speed Wi-Fi, a snack bar that serves hot pizza, and a laundry facility to keep your gear fresh.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Adventure seekers are perfectly positioned to explore the Gates of the Mountains Wilderness, where boat tours reveal stunning limestone cliffs carved by the river. History buffs can visit the Montana State Capitol or wander through the historic Last Chance Gulch in downtown Helena to see 19th-century architecture. For those who enjoy hiking or mountain biking, the extensive trail system at Mount Helena City Park offers panoramic views of the valley. Water enthusiasts will also find excellent fishing and boating opportunities at nearby Holter Lake.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is ideal for long-distance road trippers who value a predictable, high-quality experience while traveling toward Glacier National Park or Yellowstone. Its kid-friendly features, such as the playground and mini-golf, make it a top choice for vacationing families looking for reliable entertainment. Stayed on a tent site for a night. Kids had fun in the playground. Each tent site has its own propane BBQ grill.

Friendly & Welcoming staff. LOVED it. Very clean bathrooms, showers, GREAT water pressure!! Kamp K9 had two large open pens, little side trails, sidewalks, and quiet neighborhoods to walk dogs and go for a morning run. Even has the entertainment area with horseshoes, giant chess/checkers, hangout area with shade. Feels like it was once upon a time an average RV park that they're bringing lots of KOA love to. Would stay again. Gas station, Ace Hardware, coffee & pizza shop just down the road. Location was easy to get to on the outskirts of town, but also close to Helena city attractions.

Nice location before thru the mountains & hills on the way to Glacier. Easy access to Highway & Helena. It is a bit north of Helena, & nice & quiet.

Good location, poor management. We had a poor experience with this KOA, not because of the facilities, but with a loud neighbor who yelled through the night. How is this KOAs fault? I'm glad you asked. Simply, we had trouble on night one so we spoke to the camper and management the next day. The manager essentially told us to stop bothering them. The other camper seemed reasonable, until night two, a repeat of night one but worse. Knowing that management would do nothing, and not feeling like getting acquainted with the local PD, we left. We ended up having to leave at 2 am so we could find a nice highway rest stop so we could sleep in our car. Edit: If you'd like to see the kind of management you're dealing with, see the business's response. Take your money elsewhere. I didn't come to Montana to have a fight with a hopped up dude in the tent next to us cuz he couldn't sleep, I came to have a good time with my wife in an area she loves. Plenty of other places to stay.

Close by and easy to find from Highway 15 north of Helena. Clean restrooms and showers. The laundry room is clean and has enough machines for several loads at once! The sites are roomy and tidy and very close to level! There is a really nice recreation area. We make it a point to stop here when we come this way through Montana.

We had a wonderful quiet week long stay. The staff were extremely attentive and helpful. When we were readying to leave we accidentally locked our keys in the toad with engine running. I called triple A and while waiting a staff member unlocked the vehicle and charged me nothing. What great service.

I feel like KOAs are very hit or miss. This one is a hit. We were only here for one night in between longer stays in National Parks, but I would stay here again. The kids loved the play area and the entire compound was clean and well kept. The only downside is the sites are very narrow, so you're going to get to know your neighbors.

Very nice KOA…. Here for one night. Very friendly staff. Would not have minded staying longer. Plenty of room for our 43 ft Coach. We had end space #37, gravel, level with a small cement patio with chairs & a CLEAN BBQ. Also, had a very nice fire pit, but it was too hot to use.
