Situated in the northernmost part of the state, the campground is surrounded by vast forests and pristine water bodies. It is located near the First Connecticut Lake, providing guests with quick access to some of the best fishing and boating in New England. Each site includes a private fire ring and picnic table, encouraging evening campfires and outdoor dining. On-site facilities include clean restrooms, hot showers, and a playground for children. Many travelers appreciate the direct trail access, which allows visitors to head out on their adventures without needing to haul equipment to a secondary trailhead.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Adventure is just outside the park gates, with the famous Ride the Wilds ATV trail system connecting throughout the region. Fishing enthusiasts will find themselves in a premier destination for landlocked salmon and brook trout in the nearby lakes and the Connecticut River. For those who enjoy hiking, the Magalloway Mountain Trail offers a rewarding climb with an observation tower at the summit. During the winter months, the area transforms into a hub for snowmobiling, making the campground a strategic location for motorized sports and nature photography.
Who This Park Is Best For
This campground is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts who prioritize direct access to nature and trail systems over resort-style luxuries. It is a fantastic choice for families looking to introduce their children to the Great North Woods or for anglers and hunters seeking proximity to the water and forest. Nice little spots. However, you can hear the conversations of other campers pretty clearly all around you. Never thought I'd be hearing about how pizza rolls are like Tide Pods filled with sauce in the middle of nowhere NH, lol. The bath house was pretty good but the stalls didn't shut all the way. Definitely bring bug spray. The shack with camping goods was on an honor system when I went, so be sure to have cash with you. A bundle of firewood was 6 dollars.
