Holiday Acres Camping Resort

Overview

Holiday Acres Camping Resort is a long-standing, family-owned destination situated in the heart of Rhode Island’s rural landscape. It offers a classic camping experience where the primary focus is on nature and family bonding. With a mix of seasonal residents and overnight travelers, the park provides a welcoming, community-centric atmosphere for all who visit. The resort is well-regarded for its peaceful wooded setting and a relaxed environment that encourages guests to slow down and enjoy the outdoors.

Location & Surroundings

Nestled in the town of North Scituate, RI, the park sits within a dense forest canopy that provides ample shade and a sense of natural privacy for each site. The surrounding area is defined by the rural charm of Providence County, featuring rolling hills and the quiet presence of the nearby Scituate Reservoir. While the park feels like a remote escape, it remains easily accessible from major highways, offering a quiet woodland retreat without sacrificing convenience for travelers passing through the region.

Amenities & Park Features

The park is equipped with various features designed for comfort and recreation, including sites with full hookups and a well-maintained recreation hall. Active travelers can take advantage of the large outdoor swimming pool, basketball courts, and volleyball areas. For those who enjoy a slower pace, the on-site pond provides an opportunity for fishing. Additional conveniences include a general store for camping essentials, clean laundry facilities, and a playground that keeps younger visitors engaged throughout their stay.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Guests at Holiday Acres are perfectly positioned to explore the cultural highlights of Providence, located just a short drive away. This proximity allows for easy visits to the Roger Williams Park Zoo or the WaterFire events downtown. Locally, visitors can enjoy the historic charm of Scituate or hike the trails at Snake Den State Park. Because of Rhode Island's compact size, even the famous Narragansett beaches and coastal attractions are within reach for a scenic day trip.

Who This Park Is Best For

This resort is an ideal choice for families seeking a traditional camping experience filled with social activities and outdoor play. It is particularly well-suited for RVers who value a rustic, natural environment over a modern, pavement-heavy resort. It also serves as a fantastic home base for regional explorers who want to visit the historic sites and urban attractions of Rhode Island while returning to a quiet, tree-lined park at the end of the day.

Not a bad campground. Was there seasonal. The place is kept in good condition for the most part. The problem is the manager. If he doesn't like you out you go. I call him a part time manager who spends about 3-4 hours a day in the office. If you have a problem after hours good luck getting help. No after hours contact. If you don't see it his way it's no way. Unfortunately I enjoyed my time there but manager showed me the door.

My husband and I were looking for a campground in Rhode Island that had cabins. We just didn’t feel like dragging our pop-up and doing all the setting up for this trip. The cabins, I believe, are all rustic which was fine. We stayed in the Doll House. It was very clean! As were the bathrooms right across the street! They look like they may have been recently painted. We did have to drive every morning down to the shower as it would be quite a long walk with all your stuff. They were also very clean! And so were the bathrooms down there! The few employees that were interacted with were all very friendly. The campground itself was clean. No broken down/abandoned campers. The sites are VERY close to each other!!!! So if you’re looking for privacy, you probably won’t get it. He happened to be there towards the end of September, it was Halloween weekend. So the only time there was a lot of people there was Saturday and Saturday night. The rest of the weekend was pretty quiet. I’m sure it gets very busy and crowded in the summertime. You do have to drive to get anywhere, but I mean that’s to be expected. We want to go back with our whole family and each of us will just rent different cabins. There are two separate entrances so be sure when you’re checking in you use the entrance where the office is not the one further down the street. The only reason I gave it four stars is because of the closeness of each of the campsites, and I wish they would put a Another bath house up at the top of the hill. Other than that, my husband and I totally enjoyed our stay and we will be going back!!

Located in a quiet and peaceful area, easy commute to Providence while I was in town for work, staff were wonderful and kind at every encounter, beautiful view of the stars at night from my spot

My family and I have been seasonal campers at Holiday Acres for seven years and love it here! The beach on the lake, fishing, relaxing, and the friends we’ve made over the years are all reasons why we love it here. The prices are reasonable and the sites are sizable compared to other locations with seasonal camping. There are bands and food trucks scheduled on weekends throughout the summer in addition to various activities for kids and adults. The kid’s rec hall is frequented by our son with games and tables to play cards and other games. Guests are allowed to visit and/or stay overnight for a fee. It’s a great place where a family can enjoy time together.

I thought this place really deserved less than one star, but google is nice like that’s done won’t do negative stars. Having read a good portion of reviews before coming here, it wouldn’t have been on my to go list. A couple of family members have seasonal sites here so we were invited to join them for2 nights. There were 2 sites open in the seasonal section where family was. The 2 seasonal people had left a couple weeks prior. When we checked in we were informed that even though the 2 sites were open we could not use the one next door to family! We were given the mud pit site that other reviewers commented on. Family intervened and said no way. We were then given a new site they had just put in. It was so ridiculously off level that you lost your balance every time you tried to move around. Once we got plugged in, it didn’t last long. No power to our side of the post. So after waiting a half hour for someone to show up and give us permission to move to yet another site. This one was directly across from where we were. On top of the shuffle board court. At least it was level. And it had power. And it had ROOSTERS! Right next door! Nice for a family site but my little dogs were not impressed. And to top it all off, sites were over $50 a night. When you read the one and two star reviews…BELIEVE THEM!

This campground seems like it might be good for families with children, as it had a nice sandy beach area. Not that great for us. Even though we were assigned a pull thru, we had to disconnect because we were given the wrong directions. Also, pulled into the "first" campground at office, only to be told that we had to back up, pull around office and go back on the road 1/2 mile to our site. Just dirt outside of our RV - not pleasant. I would say most of the sites do not seem too crowded, which was good. Restrooms need an update, but clean. Showers full of cobwebs. If this had been a $35 or $40 a night campground, I would have given it 3 stars. Definitely not worth $52 a night.

Was invited by a friend who is a regular here for the past 30+ yrs. Its was good time spent with good people. Went to take a shower and couldn't get past the smell and a puddle of urine to greet you when you walk in. I did not/couldn't take a shower in there. Just nasty. My own camper is sounding really good
