Honey Run Beach & Campground

Overview

Honey Run Beach & Campground offers a classic Maine lakeside experience in the quiet town of Peru. This family-operated facility is situated along the sandy shores of Worthley Pond, providing a tranquil escape from the faster pace of coastal tourism. It emphasizes a rustic, natural setting where the focus remains on outdoor recreation, quiet evenings, and a welcoming community atmosphere.

Location & Surroundings

Tucked away in Oxford County, the park is surrounded by the lush forests and rolling hills characteristic of Western Maine. The campground's primary draw is its direct access to the clear, spring-fed waters of Worthley Pond. The surrounding landscape provides a deep sense of seclusion and peace, making it an ideal base for those looking to fully immerse themselves in the North Woods environment.

Amenities & Park Features

The park features a mix of wooded and open sites, many of which are equipped with water and electric hookups for RVers. Guests have exclusive access to a private sandy beach, which serves as a central hub for swimming and sunbathing. Essential facilities include:

  • A clean bathhouse with hot showers
  • On-site laundry facilities
  • A boat launch for lake exploration

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Beyond the pond, visitors can take a short drive to the nearby town of Rumford to see the impressive Rumford Falls, one of the highest waterfalls east of the Mississippi. The region is a haven for hikers and mountain bikers, with numerous mountain trails offering scenic vistas. Fishing enthusiasts will appreciate the abundant bass and trout in the pond, while local farm stands provide a taste of Maine’s seasonal harvests.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is ideal for families and nature enthusiasts seeking a low-tech, high-nature summer getaway. It specifically suits RVers who prefer a quiet, rustic atmosphere over high-end resort amenities. If you enjoy waking up to the call of loons, paddling in calm waters, and spending your afternoons by the shore, this park captures the authentic spirit of a traditional Maine vacation.

Quiet, affordable, and cleanest campground bathrooms we have ever experience. Very easy process to check-in, check-out, and the camp store has essentials like ice, propane for cooking, and other odd and ends. Will come back again! Our only complaint is that the dryers do not work that well and you typically have to run it through twice.

I cannot stop talking about the relaxation we had at your campground! The peacefulness that surrounds your campground was breathtaking, we camp a lot! My family lives in the area and we never could find a decent place to stay and this is it!! Cannot wait to come back next year for a longer time we only stayed 4 nights! Again thank you and we cannot wait to see what else is in store!

We had a great weekend at Honey Run. The check-in was smooth, and you could tell the owner was genuinely happy to have us. Our little cabin was adorable and clean. It had everything we needed from a coffee pot, little fridge, microwave, utensils (even a can opener) and dishes. The grounds are lovely and neat...very well maintained. We had family visit us while we were there and they all received the same warm greeting from the owners. Our grandchildren loved the pond and had so much fun on the playground. They Honey Run staff were very helpful with any questions we had. We were grateful they are a dog friendly campground so we could bring our aging pup (who also had a great time). We met a few of the seasonal campers and they were all friendly, you can feel the sense of community while you are there. We are anxious to go return and encourage anyone to check them out.

New owners are doing all the right things. This place will only continue to get better every year. And even if you're just visiting the lake make sure to hit up the newly redone store. They have a little bit of everything including beer and wine now.

The campground and it's new owners are fantastic. Took my family here last weekend and had a blast even with some inclimate weather. It was quiet, people were friendly, and my kids loved running around the park. We'll be back! The owners are dedicated to making it better and better, I'm excited to see it grow

Sweet little campground, very kid friendly. Cash or check only, cute playground & access to a small beach on Worthley Pond. Great fireworks celebration for July 4th!

Arived to this location after traveling 2.5 hours only to be told that they couldnt be bothered and to come back tommorow....YEAH RIGHT like we will EVER be visiting their location...EVER. We are Maine residence with cash in hand...this is NOT how you survive an epidemic nor run a business long term. Seems like someone might just have their greedy hands in a different Goverment / State bailout agenda?
