Overview

Ike Kinswa State Park offers a quintessential Pacific Northwest camping experience along the shores of Mayfield Lake. Spanning over 450 acres, this year-round destination is known for its lush forest canopy and extensive water access. Travelers looking for a serene lakeside retreat will find well-maintained facilities that blend natural beauty with modern convenience. It is a premier spot for those who appreciate the quiet sounds of the woods and the reflective waters of one of Washington's most scenic reservoirs.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in Silver Creek, WA, the park sits near the confluence of the Tilton and Cowlitz Rivers. The landscape is dominated by towering Douglas firs and big-leaf maples, providing a deep sense of seclusion despite being easily accessible from Highway 12. The park’s position on the north shore of Mayfield Lake provides panoramic views of the water, making it a central hub for exploring the diverse forest ecosystems of Lewis County.

Amenities & Park Features

The park is well-equipped for RVers, offering over 100 campsites designed to accommodate various rig sizes. Essential features include:

  • Full hookup sites providing water, sewer, and electricity.
  • Multiple boat launch ramps for easy lake access.
  • Comfortable restrooms with hot showers and a central dump station.

The layout includes several pull-through sites that accommodate larger rigs, though many sites are nestled deep within the timber for maximum privacy and shade.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor recreation is the primary draw here, with fishing for tiger muskie and trout being a major highlight for anglers. The park maintains several miles of hiking trails that wind through the forest, perfect for morning bird watching or steady walks. Just a short drive away, visitors can explore the Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument, offering a day of geological discovery. Nearby Mossyrock provides local shops and dining options for those looking to venture outside the park.

This is a beautiful campground on a peninsula with water around to fish in or use watercraft. Showers are available. The campground is clean and well-maintained. There are lots of pull-through sites and sites are good sized. We'll go back.

Hidden gem state park, beautiful calm lake with lots of fishing and boating, lots of spacious camping spots, lots of cabins, and spots with hook ups, has walk in bike in camp spots, bike with ranger and family children activities, dog friendly, disability accessible camps spots. Gorgeous ferns and mossy greenery, lots of lakes and hiking biking areas close by.

Great State Park. I went on Smokey the Bears 81st Birthday on August 9th. It was a Free Day. Lots of people, fishing, paddeling and swimming in the lake. Nice campsites with drinking water, clean bathrooms with showers. Great Family Fun...

This is a beautiful park right in the lake behind the dam. There are a number of dams to visit within easy driving range and it's only about 1.5 hours up to the Paradise visitor center on Rainier. Some campsites are right on the water but we stayed further around the loop and didn't mind too much as the waterfront sites seemed a lot louder late into the evening.
