Lake George could honestly be called Crystal Lake! Crystal Clear water, underneath blue skies in July in summer...is the definition of paradise. I was a bit warm from hiking but I sure was not after taking a dip in here. Very relaxing, I recommend dipping your toes in the water. It is snowmelt so it is cold. Overall, nice family oriented environment. Folks were fishing (or "attempting to fish, i.e., waiting), haha, so I can't speak to this spot as a fishing hole because I don't know much about it in that regard. Likely other lakes nearby are far more known for fishing (such as June Lake). There were also folks on the opposite side of the lake jumping off of a rocky outcropping. Looked like fun but wasn't feeling that adventurous. Overall worth a stop here!

Clear water, beautiful scenery, not too crowded around the lake itself but the parking lot fills up quick as this is also the trailhead for Crystal Lake. Plenty of other smaller hikes available around the lake though. Dog and kid friendly although it can be quite windy and exposed to the elements so protect your littles. Several people go out on the lake itself using all types of inflatables but just as many spend the day fishing from the shore. Our favorite lake in the area!

Incredible lake for fishin' and just chillin' on the shoreline. Killer cliff jumping on the far side of the lake. Nice trail that circles the water too. Parking can be a challenge though. Come early...stay late!

This lake is so beautiful. There is a small way of surrounding it and have different perspectives of the lake and the mountains on the other side. Best times are in spring (Snow) and in fall (nice colors).

This place is soo gorgeous specially during sunset! They have picnic area to eat. We were just looking for a spot to eat and was supposed to go somewhere else. I'm glad we made a wrong turn! It's very veey pretty here. It's quiet and peaceful. There were other people fishing and I love that everybody just respected each others space. I would love to camp here one day. Mary Lake is bigger but the view here is better.

First come first serve campsites. Best chances are to come early and if there aren't any open spots look to see if anyone's leaving. You need to leave a peice some sort of property on the site and leave a paper saying "reserved by _" on the post next to your car, and the host will come and check you in eventually. Sites can be a little close to eachother but its not to bad. Lots of traffic from day users going to the lake or the various hikes in the area. Watch out for the bears

Great campground, very accessible, for high elevation lakes. Keep in mind it's bear country and bears will stroll right through camp, which means you MUST keep all food locked up in the bear lockers. It's also very lake-focused from the location here, if you want to do any hiking in the forest... ... well let's just say you'll be by Lake Mary Road or whatnot for a lot of it, so as nice as it is, expect a bit of a hike to hit the mountains and woods.

Amazing campground! The grounds are well kept and the surrounding area is absolutely beautiful. All of the sites are right next to Lake George. There are also a few great hikes directly linked to the grounds. I would highly recommend checking this place out of you are looking to camp in Mammoth Lakes.
