Jackalope Campground

Overview

Jackalope Campground serves as a convenient and welcoming gateway for travelers exploring northern Wyoming. Situated in the charming town of Sheridan, this park offers a practical blend of essential services and easy access to the region’s natural wonders. It serves as a functional home base where the High Plains meet the foothills, providing a comfortable rest stop for those traveling the scenic routes of the American West. Whether you are passing through on a long cross-country haul or planning to explore the mountain ranges, this park provides a classic Western atmosphere.

Location & Surroundings

The park is located on the north end of town, making it exceptionally easy to reach from Interstate 90. Its position allows guests to enjoy the rugged skyline of the nearby mountains while remaining close to modern conveniences like grocery stores and local eateries. The landscape transitions from the developed edge of the city to the expansive wilderness, giving visitors a front-row seat to the Bighorn National Forest visible on the horizon. The surroundings are characterized by rolling hills, offering a sense of openness quintessential to the Wyoming experience.

Amenities & Park Features

Designed with the modern RVer in mind, the facility features full hookup sites that accommodate both 30 and 50-amp connections. Travelers appreciate the spacious pull-through sites, which simplify the setup process for larger rigs and trailers. The park includes essential on-site facilities such as clean restrooms, showers, and laundry services. Additionally, the park is pet-friendly, ensuring your companions can stretch their legs. Reliable Wi-Fi is available throughout the grounds, ensuring guests stay connected while enjoying their high-desert retreat during their stay in Sheridan.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Just minutes away, the historic downtown area of Sheridan beckons with its unique blend of cowboy culture and modern amenities. Visitors often spend time at King’s Saddlery and Museum, a world-renowned destination for leatherwork and western history. For outdoor enthusiasts, the entrance to the mountains is a short drive away, offering endless opportunities for hiking and fishing. Additionally, local breweries and boutiques in the downtown district provide plenty of evening entertainment after a day of sightseeing at the Trail End State Historic Site nearby.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is ideal for cross-country travelers looking for a reliable, no-fuss stopover with high-quality utility connections. It is also a great fit for history buffs and mountain explorers who want to stay close to urban dining and shopping options rather than camping in remote wilderness. It appeals to those who value convenient highway access without sacrificing the beauty of a mountain backdrop. If you prefer the ease of being near town while having a clear view of the Wyoming horizon, Jackalope Campground is an excellent choice.

Clean, simple, full hookups. Hot shower, laundry, dog park. Easy on and off highway. It's not a resort but it's terrific for its purpose.

Service rating is based on no one here to check you in on Saturday. Appears to be a grave parking lot with a severe downhill slope from left to right and downhill. Utilities are good as is Verizon hotspot. Most of the RV's here appear to be here for storage. Save some money and stay at Walmart.

Fantastic experience. Easy in and out for our big rig at the last minute. Friendly staff, RV repair shop on site. Clean restrooms.

The Real Deal

Man, I do NOT understand the folks leaving poor reviews of this place. Pics are available online, so if you didn't look at them it's your own dang fault. Yeah, it's a "gravel lot behind an RV repair shop", but it's also a full hookup campground with an awesome staff (OMG, Boomer!), a fenced in dog area (which is NOT standard at RV parks, sadly), WiFi (which I didn't use or need, since I just used my phone, but I appreciate its availability), a FULL RV store with specialized parts and accessories, and a 24/7 staff you're not going to find at any other place. Jenna and her dad are great people, and you can bet your last sand dollar that the next time I swing through Wyoming I'll be staying there. Jenna and Dad also gave me some great flexibility when the previous camper had left an impossible to remove LEAKING Y-adapter on the water line for the site I'd picked. No problem! "Just move to whichever one you like and set up." Someone else was complaining about the view. I had NO complaints, and commented to my wife that it was amazing to see such a vista while at the same time being mere minutes from downtown. I think some people just can't be made happy. I'm not one of them. I loved the place.

An absolute great place to stay. The entire staff was amazing and friendly. The bathrooms and laundry rooms were kept clean. A nice grassy area for the dogs. Would definitely stay again

A nice park with plenty of parking. Repair facilities on site with a well stocked parts store. The two gals at the desk were very friendly and helpful as far as registration and what was in town to see and do. Would we return again? Most definitely.

Great place to stop for the night. Very clean, large park spots, super clean bathrooms and laundry facilities. The owners are wonderful people and very helpful. Great price for the night and they except pets. This place also has a parts and supplies store and they have a shop to work on RVs as well. I highly recommend this RV park. :)

First of all we LOVE Sheridan. Awesome area. We stayed at Jackalope Campground while it was still pretty new. The campground staff was friendly and easy to deal with. The sites are pretty large and navigation within the park is pretty easy, even for big rigs like ours, though the flip side is that it's basically a large gravel lot, without a lot of personality, but it is what it is. The shower / laundry facilities were immaculate. The first electric site we pulled into, the 50A didn't work, so we switched sites, but I trust they rectified that pretty quickly. As for the negatives, they do not allow you to receive packages, which is kind of a big deal if you need it. The areas with grass that they water can get pretty muddy, as they don't have straw or anything down so it makes walking your dog in those areas difficult. The transition from the exit to the road has a large dip, meaning our leveling jacks were within a fraction of an inch of scraping the ground, and it's obvious from the scratch marks that many others have scraped their jacks, perhaps damaging them. The policies on their web site were not the same as reality, which is a good thing, because some of the policies on the web site were a bit crazy, like a 15 lb. dog limit. The web site needs to be updated. Since the campground is still relatively new, it's obvious that they are still ironing out some kinks and I'm sure they will be worked out in time. We would stay here again.

Fantastic owners and well-kept grounds. They have showers and bathrooms on-site. The laundry room is cool. Their store has everything you could need for your RV. I would go out of my way to stay here again.
