Jude Travel Park of New Orleans

Overview

Jude Travel Park of New Orleans provides a secure and welcoming base for travelers looking to experience the unique culture of the Big Easy. This family-owned park has served the RV community for decades, offering a secure environment that prioritizes safety and convenience. Unlike sprawling rural resorts, this park offers an urban setting that focuses on accessibility to the city’s historic districts while maintaining a friendly, community-oriented atmosphere for guests returning from a day of sightseeing.

Location & Surroundings

Situated on Old Gentilly Road, the park is positioned perfectly for those who want to avoid driving a large rig through narrow city streets. It sits in a location that provides a straightforward route to the heart of the city. The most significant advantage of this location is the shuttle service and nearby public transit, which allow visitors to reach the French Quarter in minutes without the hassle of urban parking or navigating traffic.

Amenities & Park Features

The park is equipped with essential modern comforts, including full hookups with 30 and 50-amp electricity at every site. After a long day of walking, guests often enjoy the salt-water swimming pool, which is heated during the cooler months, or the relaxing hot tub. Additional facilities include clean restrooms, private showers, and on-site laundry. The entire property is fenced and gated, ensuring a controlled environment for both travelers and their pets.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Staying here places you within a short distance of New Orleans' most iconic landmarks. You can easily explore the historic architecture of the French Quarter, enjoy live music on Frenchman Street, or visit the world-class National WWII Museum. For a change of pace, the nearby City Park offers beautiful botanical gardens and moss-draped oaks. Food enthusiasts will appreciate being close to legendary Creole restaurants and the bustling stalls of the French Market.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an ideal match for urban explorers and tourists who plan to spend most of their time experiencing the city’s festivals, food, and history. It is particularly well-suited for retirees and families who value a secure, gated environment and the convenience of transport. While it offers great amenities like a pool, it is best defined as a functional and friendly home base for those whose primary goal is New Orleans immersion.

This park is a sweet little oasis in an older part of NOLA. It is close to all of the attractions and Marla was kind enough to share a walking tour of the Garden District for free with all of the interesting history of the area and the homes. The pool and hot tub were super clean and the resident cats friendly. The park has a very tall privacy fence and gate to help with safety. There is a deli a few doors down with the best shrimp po boy I have ever had!

It was the perfect spot to park our camper for two weeks while we visited New Orleans. The grounds are clean; there's even a pool and a hot tub. It couldn't nbetter unless you're looking for a view. lol

This is an r v park, only back in sites No cabins restrooms are clean shower areas.Clean laundry room is nice.Pool was open while I was there. But closed on the day before I left. Nice place to visitThey have a gate that closes in front of the campground.Prior to close of business, they open it up in the morning when they open up. I rode the bus into the french quarters for eighty cents.Got a transfer and use the transfer to come back that afternoon.Transfers are good for twenty four hours.

Pleasant, well maintained little RV park just 5 miles from the French Quarter. Nice dunk pool and spa area with a covered patio. Do expect traffic noise at night due to location .

This was a clean and easily accessible place to stay while we visited New Orleans. Yes you are beside a train yard but it's pretty quiet, yes your on a highway but your in a gated place. Marla keeps the place looking real nice and the pool and hot tub sure feel good at the end of day. She also has plenty of information about "NOLA" and some tasty places to go eat. Loved the cats🐈🐈‍⬛ we'll be sure to check you out again if we come back your way.✌️

Pros: Hosts are very sweet and helpful Only 10-15 minutes to the French Quarter Nice laundry facilities The pool and hot tub are nice Cons: Location is SCARY. Semi automatic gunfire ALL night many nights, drag racing as well up and down the road. I grew up with guns and the amount of gunfire very close was unnerving. The owners can’t control this, which I totally understand. However, this would prevent me from returning. Sites are SOOOOO small, our canopy could not open all the way if someone was next to us and the sewer hookups for each site are IN the middle of the very small area you do get There are burrs EVERYWHERE. I had to brush 20-30 out of our dog every time she sat down outside. Located next to the train tracks which were very loud and shook our trailer even with stabilizers. The bathrooms here really need to be attended to more often, out of paper towel or supplies for days more than once.

Thank you, Jude Travel Park Owners, for allowing us to reside on your property for almost a year. Accidentally, when out of State, left the side door wide open for 3 days; Thank God and its hostess for always looking out for their tenants. Very friendly environment, always greeted with a smile. The owner allowes to receive deliveries from any shipment carrier, keeping them safe on her office. Very kind-hearted, honest, and respectful people who in addition keep the gates shut to care no one trespasses, allowing its tenants to feel secured. Thank You Once Again Jude Travel Park of New Orleans & Blessings!

Marla, the owner, she is the most hospital person I have ever met. She's very caring. It was cold out this morning, and I had to go take a shower and I was expecting the bathroom to be cold, but to my delightfulness, it was very warm. I was very impressed. The park is extremely clean. I very highly recommend staying here at her park.

This is an urban campground. For those not familiar with urban campgrounds, they typically are not the spacious resort campgrounds you may be used to. They also typically, especially if close to city center, are not going to be in the most luxurious section of the city. There are three campgrounds basically right next to each other in this section of town, of the three, this appears to be the best. Site #9, Back-in, straight parallel, FHU 50/20 (no 30) pedestal tall enough for Watchdog to clear the ground, water with somewhat low pressure, 3" threaded sewer. Gravel pad with grass (sort of) between sites. -1.0°, -0.4° which was just barely level enough for us to auto-level with no pads or blocks. Site is wide enough for the slides on both sides, but feels tight. Neither of the RVs on either side had slides facing us - if they had, it would have been really tight. Had to park the car sideways in front of the coach, and even at that, we felt like we were encroaching on the center lane between the two rows of sites, though Marla, the owner, told us that was what we should do. The campground is not particularly pretty. At the front is a busy six-lane road. Behind us was a large train switch yard, and throughout the day and night, you could hear the trains moving, with occasional train horns and the clanging as cars are coupled and uncoupled. One night, there was what sounded like street racing / engine revving that started around 8:00 and continued until after midnight. It was easily heard inside the coach even with the heat pump running and the television on. There was also the sound of lots of gunfire, both during racing and after. From what I read, we were not in a great neighborhood, but, all the reviews said the campground itself was safe, and we weren't there to hang out at the campground, but rather to explore New Orleans, which we could access either by driving the car, taking a city bus which stops right across the street, taking an Uber/Lyft, or taking the campground shuttle. The city bus took about 45 minutes to get from the campground to the French Quarter. Depending on traffic, a car/shuttle takes around 15 minutes. Verizon - 4 bars 5G, T-Mobile - 3 bars, AT&T - Download Mbps 6.71 Upload Mbps 3.33 Lots of OTA channels. The entrance into the campground from Chef Menteur Highway is steep, as evidenced by the numerous gouges in the pavement from RV's with low hitches. Marla, the owner, is really nice, and spent quite a bit of time giving us guidance on what to see and do, and our options for getting to the sites. She also gave us brochures, and two different walking tour guides, which I think she (and/or her husband) might have written, for architectural walking tours of New Orleans. Tips: To get to Bourbon Street using public transportation, walk across the street and take the #9 bus in the direction NOT toward Tchoupitoulas. A senior Jazzy Pass costs only $0.80 each and allows unlimited transfers and rides for twenty-four hours. Get off at Canal Street and take the Canal Street Streetcar toward the river. Get off at Bourbon Street. The best meal we had during our visit was based on Marla's suggestion: Coop's in the French Market area. The decor may be rustic, and the bathrooms "interesting," but the food is delicious. The Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden is amazing. And, there is a Cafe Du Monde nearby to get your beignet and coffee fix.
