KC RV Park

Overview

KC RV Park serves as a convenient and welcoming stopover for travelers passing through the heart of Wyoming. Located in the small town of Kaycee, this park offers a quiet, no-frills environment that caters to those looking to break up a long drive across the high plains. It provides a reliable place to recharge, offering pull-through sites and consistent service for RVers navigating the northern reaches of the state.

Location & Surroundings

Positioned right off the interstate, the park offers easy access for large vehicles. Kaycee is a historic town known for its connection to the Wild West, specifically the Johnson County War. The surrounding landscape features the rolling sagebrush and rugged horizons typical of the Wyoming high plains. Travelers will appreciate the straightforward navigation from the highway, making it an ideal anchor point before venturing into the Bighorn National Forest or further toward Yellowstone.

Amenities & Park Features

The park is designed for functionality, focusing on the essentials that long-distance travelers need. Guests can expect full hookups, which typically include water, electricity, and sewer access to keep their rigs running smoothly. While the site is kept simple, the gravel pads are leveled and well-maintained. The atmosphere is generally peaceful, providing enough space between neighbors to allow for a comfortable evening outdoors after a long day of scenic driving.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

History buffs will find plenty to explore near the park, as the area is rich in pioneer and frontier lore. Visitors often stop by the Hoofprint Trail or local museums that recount the history of the Johnson County War. For those who enjoy the outdoors, the park serves as a gateway to the southern Bighorn Mountains. Hikers and photographers frequently use the area as a base camp to access public lands that offer expansive views and local wildlife viewing opportunities.

Who This Park Is Best For

KC RV Park is an excellent match for transit travelers and road-trippers who prioritize convenience and accessibility. It is particularly well-suited for retirees and families making the trek between major regional destinations who need a predictable, secure location to spend the night. If you value a quiet, straightforward stay without the noise and bustle of larger, resort-style campgrounds, this location offers exactly the kind of rest you need.

Stopped in here on my way to job in Montana. Wind was blowing and I needed to get my camper off the road. The owners were closing the door as I was pulling in but took the time to stay and help me get pulled in a site. Great people and will definitely be back.

Mike and Beth are some of the greatest people I have ever met. If you’re passing thru or looking for a place to stay while hunting, this is it. Hunters, I’d highly recommend this place. Mike has an outstanding meat shed and walk-in cooler. I can’t say enough good about these people. Check them out for yourself. If you’re there on a night that Beth cooks, you’re in for a great meal.

Beth and her family treated us like royalty. The cabins were well stocked and clean. The processing facility is top notch and plenty of cooler space to hang out game. We will absolutely be back!

I pulled into to town late in the day on a Thursday. I was tired of driving. Little did I know there was a big event going on and they were fully booked but they made some phone calls and got me a full hookup site for one night. They are really nice folks who also recommended a good place to get supper in town. It definitely was a good place to eat.

I usually stay here a few times a year for the past 3 to 4 years, have new owners now and they’re just as sweet and kind as the old owners. Had a little electrical issue with the heater overloading, but they quickly moved me to a new cabin and offered to help move my belongings, very nice sweet couple. I hope they do well with their new adventure of owning an RV park. Good luck y’all. See you in July

We just needed a safe place to pull over and sleep for the night so we booked with hipcamp at KC RV Park for $20. A week before we arrived I emailed the owner and asked if there was a place to plug in an extension cord. She replied Yes no problems! When we arrived the owners were unavailable so we called the number on the office door. We we're told to pick any open spot and they'd see us later. When the owner arrived we had a nice chat until he asked for $44. We paid $20 in advance and told him so. He didn't seem pleased. The owner said the $20 price must be for "dry camping". There's no mention of dry camping on the hipcamp or owner's website, we booked the only available option. I asked in advance about the extinction cord. The owner accused me of trying to get away with something and if I plugged in or hooked up to anything we'd be charged. We didn't require or need the extension cord, i just asked if it was available. The owner was rude. It rained all day and night so the place was a muddy mess, the sites don't have much of a base and water puddled underneath and around our vehicle. It was a cute unique place to stay at a reasonable price but we won't recommend or be back.

Fantastic campground. Owners are very friendly. Farm setting with lots of animals. Do not leave without meeting Wilbur. But he maybe would like you to feed him an apple. He is a large pig and has tusks. But don't let them fool you he is as gentle as can be. Large spots, we are 75 feet long and fit just fine. We stayed two nights. If in this area again, we will definitely stay here.

Very quiet. Nicest people I've ever met. We stayed there going and coming from Montana. Thank you for your hospitality and the eggs.
