Kerrville-Schreiner Park

Overview

Kerrville-Schreiner Park is a premier destination for those looking to experience the natural beauty of the Texas Hill Country. Spanning over 517 acres along the banks of the Guadalupe River, this municipal park offers a unique blend of riverfront access and rugged upland terrain. It is widely recognized as the most popular park in the Kerrville area, providing a peaceful escape for travelers who want to immerse themselves in nature while remaining close to modern city conveniences.

Location & Surroundings

Situated just south of downtown Kerrville, the park serves as a gateway to the region's rolling hills and scenic vistas. The landscape is characterized by limestone outcrops and native vegetation, creating a quintessential Hill Country backdrop. The park is split into two distinct areas: the River Side and the Hill Side, each offering a different perspective of the local environment. Travelers will find themselves surrounded by the quiet rustle of cypress trees and the gentle flow of the Guadalupe River.

Amenities & Park Features

RV travelers are well-catered for with a variety of site options, including full hookup sites that accommodate different rig sizes. The park features clean restroom and shower facilities, a playground, and several picnic areas. For recreation, guests can explore more than seven miles of hiking and biking trails that wind through the hills. Birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts will especially enjoy the dedicated birding blinds and the vibrant butterfly garden located within the grounds.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Beyond the park boundaries, the city of Kerrville offers charming shops and local dining. Outdoor enthusiasts can take advantage of the park's kayak and canoe rentals to spend a day on the water. The nearby Riverside Nature Center and the Museum of Western Art provide cultural enrichment just a short drive away. Fishing is another popular pastime here, with the river providing ample opportunities to catch bass and sunfish right from the riverbank access points.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an ideal match for active RVers and families who prioritize outdoor recreation over resort-style luxuries. It appeals to those seeking a rustic and authentic camping experience where the focus remains on the landscape. Birders, hikers, and water sports enthusiasts will find plenty to keep them busy. It is also a great choice for travelers who appreciate a well-maintained, publicly-managed facility that offers easy access to the heart of the Texas Hill Country.

Awesome park to practice and train MTB, jogging and hiking. Most of the trails are shaded. All sorts of trails, lots of them flat and twisty, some of them technical.

Even though it's open it's lacking maintenance/cleaning. They painted the restrooms and left debris of paint everywhere. Our campsite pourch was dirty, others are the same. We enjoyed coming here (3-5 times/year) but will likely hold off until it is fully open. Currently no access to the river.

We stayed at the Windham Resort in Ingram. Spent a few days enjoying the area, natural surroundings, as well as shopping in Kerrville. Windham Resort is a great place to stay and is on top of a hill with only one road in making it extremely safe.

Nice rv sites. Great trails and river access. This park could be 5-star if the restrooms and showers were updated and kept clean. The restrooms do not have ac and it is like a sauna showering.

A favorite park to camp in. Love swimming and kayaking the river. Paddled to the damn and back, had picnic along the way. Park hosts kept everything neat and tidy. Bathrooms were always clean.

Have been spending the week b4 Easter here for 30+ years! The mini cabins used to be screened in shelters. Even during the busy annual EHCT it's quiet, peaceful, and relaxing. Love this park. Love Kerrville!

Beautiful, beautiful, and beautiful park. Unfortunately, we only stopped here for about 30 minutes since we were just passing by. The workers here are incredibly helpful and nice. This park has dozens of activities from what we read. It is just incredibly breathtaking, and we will absolutely be back for a longer stay.

This is our first stay at this park and we're supposed to be here for 10 nights. So far this is a really awesome park. Very friendly staff and great sites. I'm sure that we'll be back!

Cons: It could have used a mow in my honest opinion. There was melted chocolate all over the patio area of our site that was obviously overlooked, but we had to clean up and the fire pit was full of ashes. My biggest complaint would have been the noise from the highway. If you come here make sure you have plenty of hose length for water and sewer and electric cord.bc all of the hook-ups in sycamore loop were on the wrong side.. Not sure how the other sites were set up tho? Pros: it's a very pretty park. The river is gorgeous and inviting and was easily accessible from our site. (202). the sites were very spacious and felt private and like people were not on top of you. Would I stay here again yes! Great for a short stay!
