La Mesa RV Park

Overview

La Mesa RV Park offers a quiet and welcoming atmosphere for travelers exploring the Four Corners region of Southwest Colorado. Known for its lush landscaping and clean facilities, this park provides a comfortable and reliable basecamp in the heart of Cortez. It is a family-owned operation that prides itself on diligent maintenance and a genuine guest experience, making it a favored choice for both overnight stops and extended stays in the high desert.

Location & Surroundings

Conveniently situated on the south side of town, the park provides immediate access to local services while maintaining a surprisingly peaceful environment. Visitors are often treated to sweeping views of the majestic La Plata Mountains and the distinct high-desert horizon. Its strategic position in Cortez places travelers within minutes of diverse grocery stores and charming local eateries, perfectly blending small-town convenience with the rugged natural beauty of the surrounding Colorado wilderness.

Amenities & Park Features

The park features well-maintained gravel sites fully equipped with 50-amp full hookups to ensure a seamless stay for modern rigs. Many sites are designed with pull-through accessibility, making navigation simple for those driving larger motorhomes. Park features include:

  • Pristine laundry facilities and private shower suites.
  • Mature shade trees at nearly every site providing natural cooling.
  • Pet-friendly walking areas for travelers with dogs.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The primary draw for most guests is the proximity to Mesa Verde National Park, located a short ten-minute drive from the park gates. Here, visitors can marvel at ancient cliff dwellings and learn about Ancestral Puebloan history. Beyond the national park, the region offers the Canyons of the Ancients and Hovenweep National Monument. For those seeking adventure, the famous Phil’s World mountain biking trails are within easy reach for a day of outdoor fun.

Who This Park Is Best For

This location is perfectly suited for history buffs and explorers who want a centralized hub for visiting the numerous archaeological sites in the region. It is ideal for travelers who prefer a peaceful and orderly environment over the loud atmosphere of a typical resort. Because it easily accommodates big rigs and provides consistent, high-quality utilities, it remains a top-tier selection for full-time RVers and seasonal travelers looking for a dependable home base in Colorado.

No showers, no restrooms, not very much space between sites an finally not very quiet. I do not understand the 5/5 ratings for this park. The Mexican restaurant nearby has good food and fair prices

Great park, immaculate facilities and accommodating staff. Simple but functional and wonderfully quiet due to its off highway location! A sure stop in Tucumcari because of the value! 😎

We called from Four Corners monument needing 2 sites for 35 ft rigs. They were very accommodating with level, spacious sites. $50 per night with veterans discounts. Easy in and out, pull through access. I highly recommend this campground!

We were so happy to find La Mesa RV. A great location, very near Mesa Verde NP. It was convenient for groceries too. Level spot, and clean and quiet.

Cozy place. Great for a short stay or long. Only complaint is the sewer connection was a bit forward we had to hookup and pull forward and dump before we left. We did get a firework show one night. Pinky and Lynn were great..very patient and knowledgeable about the area. Would recommend and would stay again.

Great location in town and easy drive to Mesa Verde, Mancos, Dolores, Canyon of the Ancients. Car wash next door is a little loud during the day and some hwy noise at night, but still quiet and peaceful stop with great staff.

Very nice park. Only spent one night here, but Sherry made us feel very welcome. The park is centrally located so it's close to everything. We will definitely be back.

Small RV park right off the main street in Cortez. At first glance the place looks a little shady, however we had no problems on our one night stay. We had a beautiful view of the mountains from our picnic table! The site was gravel with some trees and small grassy areas. The middle was grassy with flowers. The laundry room had been recently renovated. It still needed some finishing touches when we were there. It was very clean, and had four sets of washer/dryers in two different sizes. Most RVers were full time. Will definitely stay again if the need arises.

For $2 per pet per day there should be something in return, like a dog park, not just dying grass median and warning the green grass area have pesticides on em. Yes wifi signal was strong, but the internet was not working at all. Verizon got 20mb down and 17 up. The staff was super nice and helpful.the grounds were nice and clean. The grass at the maverick gas station was plush across the street. Plenty of room for back ins and pull through spots. The staff mentioned the lot next door might be available for a park or something. That's a good idea. The 2 days before we stayed at their sister RV park in Springerville, AZ same top notch quality. Thanks guys And the road noise was not a bother at all.

Cortez is always beautiful, stayed here almost stayed a week. Second trip to Cortez and our first time staying here. It won’t be the last, people are so friendly and the park is right next to everything you might need. We rode our bikes all around town from the RV park. Definitely was a nice stop on our journey
