As part of a 1,050-acre city park, this destination provides a rare blend of urban convenience and expansive natural beauty. The park centers around a sprawling reservoir, creating a peaceful atmosphere that feels miles away from the city center while remaining easily accessible for those navigating the heart of the Midwest.
Location & Surroundings
Situated in the scenic rolling hills of Northwest Omaha, the park overlooks a 390-acre lake that serves as a primary focal point for local recreation. Its location near I-680 makes it an ideal stop for travelers on the I-80 corridor who want to avoid the noise of the interstate without straying too far from their route. The surrounding prairie landscape and wide water views provide a serene backdrop for evening sunsets and morning wildlife viewing, offering a quiet escape within city limits.
Amenities & Park Features
This campground stands out among municipal parks for its high-end infrastructure and attention to detail. It features spacious sites with full hookups including water, sewer, and 50-amp electricity. Every site is equipped with a level concrete pad, which is a significant advantage for larger motorhomes and trailers. Guests also have access to modern, climate-controlled shower houses, a laundry facility, and well-maintained fire rings and picnic tables, ensuring a comfortable stay for short or long durations.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the 6.5-mile paved trail that circles the lake, perfect for biking, jogging, or walking the dog. The park also hosts a premier disk golf course and multiple boat launches for kayaking, sailing, and fishing for channel catfish or largemouth bass. Beyond the park boundaries, visitors are just a short drive from the world-famous Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium and the historic Old Market district, which offers a variety of local dining and boutique shopping.
Who This Park Is Best For
Lake Cunningham is an ideal fit for big-rig owners who prioritize reliable, paved sites and modern utility connections. It is a fantastic choice for families who want a safe, active environment with plenty of open space for children to play. Loved this park! We were in East C so had full hookups. Park is very clean and quiet. Site was concrete and level. Grass surrounding sites was nice. Power (50 amp), water, and sewer connections all worked well. Roads are easy to navigate. They are narrow so backing our 38 foot motorhome into site when an RV was in site across the road required care. It is definitely possible; just use care. We would definitely stay here again if in this area.

Lake is beautiful. Great bike path all around the lake. Sites are park like and well maintained. Only complaint is the guy who tied his dog up near the road so it could bark at everyone who went by staring around 5:30 am. I would have told the camp host but IT was the guy filling in for the camp host 🤷🏼♂️😒

Thank you so much for a great weekend. This campground is absolutely beautiful. Thank you for the Bingo, Music and smores. It was extremely nice to sit outside and meet other campers. A huge thank you to Ed the camp host. He was unbelievable. We have never had a campground host personally introduce themselves and make sure we were all set. He is a huge assest to this campground. He takes pride in what he does and it shows. Thank you again for a wonderful weekend and absolutely beautiful campground. Just a heads up the campsite is $47 but you are charged an additional $12.87 in processing and platform fees.

This campground is absolutely beautiful! I am so thankful we found it as we were driving through Omaha. The best part of the campground is the camp host in East C- Mr. Ed! We have never had a camp host greet us and introduce themselves. He checked on us and made sure we knew he was there to help if we needed anything. The bathrooms are 5 stars. They are extremely clean and well kept. Not once in 4 days did we see a piece of paper on the floor. The grounds and surrounding area is beautiful. We loved walking to the marina and doing the 6.2 mile loop. On Saturday night the campground offered bingo, live music and smores. This was a great way to get out and meet people. I highly recommend staying here. There isn't a bad campsite in the entire campground they are all perfect. Thank you Mr. Ed for all you did to make an experience wonderful.

We are local and just got back from a week in campground C. Best staycation ever! I know the dirt trails here so enjoyed them everyday, often with friends. I could also cycle around the lake daily. The campground and restrooms/showers were immaculate . Firewood is available. It was quiet and peaceful. We had full hookups for our class C Leisure Travel Van. Highly recommend for local camping, travelers passing through will love it as it is right off of north I 680 and close to I 29. Nice lake for SUP, kayak, canoe etc. I look forward to another staycation here!

Stayed at both sides of the campground in a Class C. Grounds are well maintained with picnic tables and fire rings at each site. Sites are large and level. During the week park is pretty quiet, weekend was younger crowd but not rowdy. Bathhouse is clean and showers are hot. Had a great time on biking the trails and watching all the fishing. They even have a little concession/ store on the weekends with soda/ice etc. Highly recommend! Edit: Just a side note, that during the week you can hear the freeway noise, it's a city.

East C - Back In - Site - 54 Campground was well maintained. Water is city water and quality is good. Concrete pad was level but not very wide. Site picnic table was in good shape. The yard hydrant is a Woodford S3. Might want to research how it works if unfamiliar. There’s a nice frisbee golf course on site. This campground is new and in very good condition.

One of the best campgrounds we have stayed at! All concrete drives and pads. We stayed on electric only side but the view of the water was amazing! Concrete trail is wide and well maintained. Loved seeing the sailboats, fishermen and bicyclist. We will definitely go back!! Very large campsites as well. Top notch!!
