Lake d'Arbonne

Overview

Lake D'Arbonne State Park offers a serene escape into the rolling piney hills of North Louisiana. Centered around a massive 15,250-acre reservoir, this destination provides a peaceful atmosphere for travelers seeking a connection with nature. The park is renowned for its scenic beauty and well-maintained grounds, making it a staple for regional RVers. Whether you are passing through or staying for a week, the quiet rustle of the pines creates a relaxing backdrop for your outdoor adventures.

Location & Surroundings

Located just outside Farmerville, LA, the park sits in a region characterized by deep forests and sprawling waterways. The wooded terrain provides ample shade and privacy for campers, while the lake itself dominates the landscape. The surrounding area is largely rural, ensuring minimal light pollution and quiet nights. Travelers will appreciate the easy access to the water, with several points throughout the park offering unobstructed views of the sunset over the D'Arbonne lakefront.

Amenities & Park Features

The park features 58 well-appointed RV campsites, including premium sites equipped with water and electrical hookups. For those requiring more convenience, several sites offer sewer connections as well. On-site facilities include a seasonal swimming pool, tennis courts, and a popular disc golf course. Anglers benefit from multiple fishing piers and boat launches that provide easy entry to the lake. The bathhouses are centrally located and known for being clean and accessible for all guests.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Fishing is the primary draw here, as Lake D'Arbonne is famous for its record-breaking crappie, bass, and catfish. Beyond the water, visitors can explore several miles of hiking trails that wind through the hardwood forests. The Piney Ridge Trail is a favorite for spotting local wildlife and migratory birds. For a change of pace, the nearby town of Farmerville offers local dining and small-town charm, while the scenic overlooks within the park provide perfect spots for photography and birdwatching.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an ideal match for avid anglers looking to spend long days on the water. It also appeals to families who enjoy a mix of traditional camping and recreational activities like swimming and tennis. I brought 3 young boys and my teenage son. Pool was nice and water was cool it wasn’t crowded. The rules are a little strict (only allow bottle water and no toys) but I’m sure it cuts down on the place getting trashed. They do need to implement a dress code there were a couple of girls in thong bikinis. I’m fine for a bikini but cover at least half your bottom.

We live in Alaska and travel the southern states in the winter time. We have now stayed at this park twice and thoroughly enjoy the park, local community and the fishing. The staff there is unequalled and leading the charge is the campground host, Bill and his wife Rhonda. They are not only ambassadors for this park, but for the state of Louisiana. The nicest most professional folks you can ever hope to run across.

We have been here several times to stay in the cabins in the fall. It’s always beautiful. This time there was an extended “draw down” on the lake to clean up invasive species and such I guess. Maybe combined with a lack of rain? It was still eerily beautiful.

Would have been higher if the water was higher. Drought has taken its toll. BUT, the park and facilities were great. We only did a day visit, so didn't stay. Tennis courts, disc golf and great pavilions throughout. The restrooms were very clean. Definitely a go back park! Pictures are of the low lake level.

I recently stayed at this campground for the second time and once again had a fantastic experience. This place is a true relaxing retreat, with beautiful grounds and calming water views that make you feel completely at peace. The campsites are large and spacious, perfect for setting up a cozy campfire and enjoying the great outdoors. If you want a more level site, I recommend getting site 24 or 25 as some of the other sites can be a bit uneven. The gate can be a bit tricky to unlock, if you are out past dark, so be sure to have a flashlight handy and be prepared to get down on the ground to reach the lock. Overall, I highly recommend this campground to anyone looking for a tranquil getaway. I will definitely be back again in the future.

Great time spent fishing, living with nature, enjoying life away from city noise with my loved ones. The whole state park staff, specifically Demetrius were very professional, polite, extremely helpful to ensure we were enjoying our weekly stay. The whole experience exceeded my expectations. My wife (Vanessa) and I will return to this fantastic place.

Very peaceful. Stayed at site 23 with my travel trailer. Mostly level. Good water and 30/50 amp electric. Dump station on the way out.
