Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort

Overview

Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort is a premier destination located in the Christmas-themed town of Santa Claus, Indiana. This park offers a festive, family-friendly atmosphere that operates seasonally, serving as a hub for summer vacations and autumn festivities. Known for its extensive scale and resort-style amenities, it functions as a comprehensive vacation destination rather than just a simple overnight stopover. Travelers here enjoy a mix of traditional camping and modern convenience in a park that has been recognized nationally for its family-oriented programming.

Location & Surroundings

The resort is situated in the rolling hills of southern Indiana, sitting directly adjacent to the famous Holiday World & Splashin' Safari theme park. The grounds are heavily wooded, providing a canopy of shade for the many RV sites and vacation rentals. Its location within Santa Claus means visitors are surrounded by holiday-themed street names and whimsical architecture. This unique festive environment creates a sense of place that feels distinct from any other midwestern campground, making it a bucket-list item for many RVer families.

Amenities & Park Features

The amenities at this resort are designed to keep families entertained without ever needing to leave the grounds. The Blitzen’s Bay pool and on-site water slides offer aquatic fun, while the extensive golf cart rentals provide a popular and convenient way for guests to navigate the sprawling property. The park also features mini-golf, gem mining, and a well-stocked camp store. For those traveling with pets, the gated dog park and numerous walking paths ensure that every member of the family is accommodated during their stay.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

While many guests utilize the free shuttle service to spend their days at the nearby theme parks, the surrounding area offers several other notable landmarks. History buffs can visit the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial, located just a short drive away, to learn about the 16th president's early life in Indiana. Nature lovers will enjoy the hiking trails and fishing opportunities at Lincoln State Park. Back in town, the Santa Claus Museum and the local post office offer a charming look into the history of this holiday-inspired community.

Who This Park Is Best For

This resort is tailor-made for families with children who want a high-energy vacation packed with activities and social interaction. It is an ideal choice for big-rig owners seeking full-hookup sites with easy access to major regional attractions. While the park may be quite bustling for those seeking a quiet, secluded wilderness experience, it is the perfect fit for social campers and those looking to celebrate the holiday spirit throughout the year, especially during the legendary Halloween weekends in the fall.

I have been coming to lake Rudolph for about the past 10 years and love the place. I almost always come with atleast 3 people in the fall It is a fun place there are many things to do and this year the beds were actually comfortable. Except that the wifi wasn't great wich it never was because obviously it's camping, and some of the sheets were dirty so was the floor. But other than that I would say 4 out of 5 stars. Also make sure you bring your own towels! I almost forgot I'm glad I didn't.

Okay, so this was our first time here for the Halloween events going on. We had 2 cabins and a rv spot. We loved the child events that had, it was super fun. But the golf cart parade was the worst disaster ever. It happened at 9pm and it was so unorganized, you had a bunch of drunk people driving the golf carts, blasting music and not going the right way, almost crashing into each other. You had all these kids thinking candy was being given out only to see a bunch of unorganized drunk adults blasting music or teenagers driving them all crazy. That was RIDICULOUS. It was just so chaotic. Also, the beds in the 2 bedroom/1 bath cabins were the most uncomfortable beds I have ever slept on in my life. We ended up going home a night early because of how bad our backs hurt and how we didn’t get sleep at all the entire weekend trip. Also no towels, rags, blankets, pillows. I mean, just the absolute bare minimum place I have ever stayed. This is such a fun idea and concept but definitely need better control on all the drunk people driving around, teenagers driving around on these golf carts. I can’t tell you how many times I saw people almost crashing into each other. Unattended teenagers and children, the golf cart parade was the most unorganized thing I have ever witnessed. I’d be back if they fixed a few issues.

My family and I just stayed at the cabins and when I say it was perfect I mean it! The cabin was cute and cozy with plenty of room for us (group of 6). We rented a golf cart which I would say is a absolute MUST. The amenities are so nice. The water park wasn't open sadly but it looked so nice and clean! The camp store was nice and clean and had everything you could need! All of the employees were friendly and extremely helpful! The only problem at the cabin was the door was a bit finicky to get to lock and unlocked and it needed a good sweep when we got there but other than that everything was perfect! We will definitely be back!

We had such a wonderful experience at Sun Outdoors Lake Rudolph! The cabin we stayed in was spacious, clean, and well-stocked with all the kitchen necessities we could need! The bedrooms were roomy and comfortable—just don’t forget to bring your own linens and towels (this is clearly stated in the welcome email). Check-in and check-out were seamless, and renting a golf cart is absolutely worth it—ours was well-maintained and made getting around the resort a breeze. One of our favorite parts of the trip is the golf cart parade—it’s such a fun, festive event for everyone- whether you’re participating in the parade or simply watching from your site! Be sure to bring decorations and get in on the fun! While Holiday World brought us to the area, we’ve come to love the campground just as much—it’s truly an attraction in its own right! From free putt-putt and the refreshing pool to the daily events organized by the friendly activities staff, there’s always something going on. A big highlight for our kids was the on-site mining experience and arcade! A special shoutout to Matt and the team—due to unexpected circumstances, my son wasn’t able to visit Holiday World, but the staff went above and beyond to make sure he still had a blast every single day. If you’re visiting Santa Claus, IN, make sure to explore all the other unique local attractions too—you won’t be disappointed. We can’t wait to come back!

We had such a great time staying at Lake Rudolph! We rented a cabin for our family getaway—while it was a bit on the small side, it was cozy and had everything we needed. That’s what camping is all about anyway, right? The location couldn’t have been better—super close to Holiday World, which made it easy to head back after a long, fun day at the park. We also spent a full day at the Lake Rudolph pool and water slide area, which was perfect for cooling off. We rented a cabana right by the splash pad, which worked out great for our little ones. One of the absolute highlights was the Saturday night glow parade—over 100 golf carts decked out with lights, music, candy, and beads. We decorated our own cart and had a blast participating! Just a heads-up: since it’s a family campground, there are lots of kids on bikes and scooters, so be sure to drive slow and stay alert. As long as you’re cautious, it’s a safe and fun environment for everyone. We also loved the new activity center—they’ve added mini golf, an arcade, gemstone mining, and even an ice cream shop near the basketball courts. The kids were in heaven! All in all, it was a fantastic trip and we’ll definitely be back again. Highly recommend Lake Rudolph for a fun and family-friendly camping adventure!

UPDATE MAY 15 2025||The prices have gotten even worse this summer. Now for two nights of tent camping, its 221.87 if you want to reserve your site and actually make sure you get it. You can risk not getting the site you chose for $40.00 less. Yep they charge you $40.00 to keep the site you reserved. I was planning on maybe taking my child in OCT, keep in mind the pool and waterslides will be closed so I was planning on getting a golf cart for just Saturday to keep us busy. Now the total for 2 nights of sleeping in a tent with a site of your choosing and a golf cart for one night. DRUM ROLLLLLLL BRBRBRBRBBRRBRBRB $291.87!!!!.... we can literally stay in a lake front hotel near navy pier right on the lake in Chicago for that price. Sun and Fun outdoors has ruined this place, I wish Holiday World would have bought it, they would have kept prices within reason and not made it look like a retirement community. Pathetic to charge someone that much to sleep on the ground.

My family booked a Christmas cabin for the weekend. We traveled from Tennessee to visit Holiday World, so we chose Sun outdoors to stay since it is conveniently located. We arrived at 3pm to check in. The girl working the lobby was on the phone when we walked in and after a few minutes she acknowledged us and very quickly got us checked in. We weren't told where our cabin was located or even that we would have to enter a code to go through the gate. After finally finding our cabin, we unloaded our vehicle and started putting stuff away then noticed that our water was not working at all. Had to call the after hours number to get assistance in correcting the problem. A few moments later a young man came and fixed it outside. We chose to explore the resort but unfortunately most amenities were closed. We did enjoy the arcade, however several games took credits but didn't actually work. We returned to the cabin to relax for the night only to find out that the Wi-Fi signal was horrible and would not connect well enough to be able to enjoy anything on TV. Quite unfortunate since there are 3 smart TVs in the cabin, yet you can't watch anything on them because of the weak signal. You're charged "resort fees" that supposedly cover all of the activities and also Wi-Fi so that seems like a ripoff when the wifi doesn't work and most of the things were closed. Also, Holiday World closed at 5pm on Saturday however their recordings from their rides played on repeat all the way thru 2 am Sunday morning. We also noticed ants all over the living room the first night of our stay. They seemed to just get worse throughout the stay. The area is beautiful with great views and I definitely recommend renting a golf cart if you choose to stay here. We enjoyed the gas grill, the beautiful, huge deck and all the area to ride the golf carts. I would probably stay again but not in a rush to go back. I would suggest packing food or stopping along the way somewhere other than Santa Claus to purchase groceries for your trip. We could not believe the prices in the town and regretted not being fully stocked

Great campground. I do miss the inflatable slide though, that was awesome. I also think some pickleball courts would be an awesome addition here with its rapid growth in popularity. Plus the courts don’t take up as much space as tennis courts. And y’all could rent out paddles/balls for free for the people who didn’t bring their own. Overall, great place located right next to an even better place.
