Lake Sacajawea - COE/Fishhook Park

Overview

Fishhook Park, managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, offers a serene and refreshing escape on the northern shores of Lake Sacajawea. This popular destination along the Snake River is widely known for its lush, irrigated greenery that contrasts beautifully with the surrounding rugged, arid landscape of eastern Washington. It provides a peaceful environment for families and outdoor enthusiasts looking to enjoy the water while staying in a well-maintained, classic COE campground setting that prioritizes nature and relaxation.

Location & Surroundings

Situated near Prescott, Washington, the park sits on the south bank of the Snake River, just upstream from the Ice Harbor Lock and Dam. The surrounding landscape is a unique and striking blend of basalt cliffs and rolling golden hills typical of the Columbia Basin. Because the park area is heavily wooded and meticulously irrigated, it serves as a cooling oasis in the desert, providing thick canopies of shade which are a welcome relief for RVers during the high heat of the summer months.

Amenities & Park Features

The campground features over 60 spacious sites, many of which are equipped with electric hookups and are designed to comfortably accommodate larger motorhomes and trailers. Visitors have access to all the essential facilities needed for a comfortable stay, including hot showers, flush toilets, and a convenient dump station for waste management. For recreation, the park offers a designated swimming beach, a multi-lane boat launch for easy river access, and several large picnic shelters that are perfect for hosting group gatherings.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Water-based recreation is the primary draw here, with ample opportunities for boating and fishing for prized species like salmon, steelhead, and smallmouth bass. Land-based activities include viewing local wildlife and visiting the nearby Ice Harbor Dam visitor center, where travelers can learn about the region's history and hydroelectric operations. For those interested in local culture, the renowned wineries of Walla Walla and the bustling Tri-Cities area are within an hour's drive, offering world-class dining and tasting rooms.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an ideal fit for family campers seeking a safe, water-centric vacation spot that avoids the crowded atmosphere of a commercial resort. It is also a favorite for anglers and boaters who want immediate, hassle-free access to the Snake River's productive waters. If you value a mix of natural beauty, quiet evenings by the campfire, and the reliability of well-maintained government-managed facilities, Fishhook Park provides a fantastic and affordable home base for your next RV adventure.

We had an incredible camping experience at Fish Hook Park on the Snake River! The campsite was perfect for our group, offering beautiful river views and clean, convenient bathrooms that were well-maintained throughout our stay. The staff went above and beyond to make our visit memorable, and Ranger Heather was especially amazing. She went out of her way to deliver a birthday present to the two twin boys in our group, adding a special touch to their celebration. The friendly and accommodating staff truly made our stay enjoyable. Highly recommend this campground for a family-friendly, relaxing getaway!

This is the best State Park we have stayed at in the last 9 months on the road. It is very quiet and serene on weekdays. It gets busy on weekends but not crazy. The campsites are spread out better than anywhere we have seen. Most sites have views of the water. Do know that the closest civilization is about 30 minutes away.

I love this place! I reserved tent camping sites. I would recommend getting the ones farther away from the parking lot because there is always a guy with his diesel truck loading a boat into the water at 6am, plus you will be closer to the other bathroom that has the showers in them. The park lady is super nice and the workers are super cool! The stars are amazing at night to look at! Make sure you got all you need because I think the closest town is either walla walla or burbank. highly recommend if you're looking for a peaceful camp out. There is a swim area for the kids and a big lawn to play on, but you have to bring your own stuff to play with.

Beautiful place. Great pull through spots, beautiful views, great docks that you can leave your boat at. Just remember... This is super family oriented.... Early quiet time, no alcohol allowed, lots of kids and families

Site 07. Fairly steep access to get below to the water/grassy/fire pit area without going through other's camp sites- could be problematic for anyone mobility troubles. We were only able to stay one night before moving on but would absolutely recommend this campground for families. Minus a star for having the dirtiest showers I've ever been in, not even a hook to hang a shower bag from.
