The largest lake in South Dakota is a serene way to picnic, fish, and camp. Our camp area had a huge central fire pit for campers to share! The lake is a fisherman's dream. I personally enjoyed the gorgeous sunrise and sunsets i er the lakes and marshes. DeSmet is nearby for a little city life, should you desire.

An absolute gem of a campground, the bathroom facilities were very tidy and the showers were prob the best ive had camping, HOT and actual pressure. The playground set up in amazing for kids especially site 80E which has direct view of the playground and many other sites do as well. The gravel for sites are well kept, large and easy to back into. They have multiple clean out stations, a fish cleaning station and fresh water fill area. The beach made for a good walk from the campsite and the kids loved it! Everyone was very respectful and we felt safe letting the kids ride bikes around the loop. We will definitely be back, 110%.

Stayed at Cabin C1. Nice mature trees throughout the park making it easy to find shade. Cabins and some camping spots are feet away from the lake so super easy access to go swimming, play or fish. Trails along the beach path. Swimming beach wasn't well maintained though and quite rocky to walk on. On site ranger and on site park employee were both extremely friendly and helpful. Very small town nearby with a few gas stations in case you forget to bring or run out of something. We would definitely go back again.

Campground itself is very well maintained. Many fishermen, boaters, kayaking used the facilities. Great trails. E bikes need to slow down a bit. Families used the playground equipment. I think everyone there had a dog or two. One improvement that is needed is the access road from the highway. I thought I was on the road to Lower Brule

Family camped here for 5 days and it was fantastic! Spots right on the beach are alright, but didn't have a ton of shade. We will probably take spots 69, 70, 71 next time cause they are huge and lots of trees. Lake is huge and fun to kayak on. Bathrooms are very clean and showers were easy to use.

I was there on a Wed-Thursday time frame. Very clean, nice spacing to the sites. Shower house, very nice. Fire rings all cleaned out. Very well kept park!! I hear, during the main camping season...it is next to impossible to get a site. So plan early!! Beautiful lake, sadly it was way to windy for biking or kayaking/fishing. Big Beautiful was being bucked around pretty good by the 30+ mph winds.

Such a beautiful lake. The kids were able to swim and walk the trails; so much fun.

Relatively easy check in on their website. I still prefer a live person in the little booth. Quiet at night and nice clean bathrooms. Convenient dump station with plenty of bays.
