Linn Valley Lakes

Overview

Linn Valley Lakes is a private, gated resort community located in the heart of eastern Kansas. It offers a unique mix of residential living and recreational vehicle sites designed specifically for those seeking a getaway centered around lakefront activities. Unlike a standard roadside park, this destination provides a secure, neighborhood-like atmosphere where RVers can enjoy a wide variety of community-driven amenities and quiet natural beauty.

Location & Surroundings

Situated approximately an hour south of Kansas City, the park is nestled within the rolling hills and wooded landscapes of Linn County. The area is defined by its serene water views and lush greenery, providing a welcome buffer from the noise of the city. Travelers will find themselves surrounded by several smaller ponds and a large main lake, creating a peaceful environment for morning walks or watching the sunset over the water.

Amenities & Park Features

The resort boasts an impressive array of facilities designed for an active lifestyle. Most RV sites offer full hookups with reliable electric and water service. Guests can enjoy access to the following features:

  • A professional 18-hole golf course and pro shop.
  • Two seasonal swimming pools and a community clubhouse.
  • Dedicated fishing docks and boat ramps for lake access.

The park also includes mini-golf and basketball courts, ensuring there is something for everyone to enjoy during their stay.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the proximity to the Marais des Cygnes National Wildlife Refuge, which is renowned for birdwatching and scenic nature trails. For those interested in local heritage, the nearby Battle of Mine Creek site provides a fascinating look into Civil War history. Within the community itself, visitors often spend their time fishing for bass and crappie or enjoying a quiet round of golf just steps from their rig.

Who This Park Is Best For

This location is ideal for seasonal travelers and retirees who want a stable base with a strong sense of community. It also appeals strongly to families who enjoy structured activities like swimming and golfing in a safe, gated environment. Beautiful place. Extremely affordable. Lots of whiney people stuck in the 80's but most people are fantastic.

Great family-friendly gated community—safe with amenities like volleyball courts, a pool, and mini golf. The lake is on the smaller side but usually not crowded, which makes it peaceful.

Too many restrictions and allowing people to build big homes. I thought this was supposed to be small homes, summer / vacation homes/ cabins. If we need fancy houses and basement, we can stay in the city. Also, no one updates the land owners about water and when will it be available. Dogs off leashes. Pool not functional. You have to simplify the process here and let people enjoy their time really .

A very peaceful place to visit. Great for families. The lake has something for everyone fishing, boating, swimming pool and a lake swimming area as well as playgrounds.

We lived in Linn Valley for three years. When we first moved there, we were really impressed with some of the amenities. Unfortunately, we saw the quality of the amenities go down. We saw the property owners association fees go up every year. We saw the sewer and water prices go up substantially. We saw the quality of the streets go down, and it seemed that some of the nice elements of a small, quaint town that we were initially impressed with were greatly diminished. There are some really nice folks there, but there’s also a very angry spirit among many people on Facebook. I don’t think that I would ever move back there. I believe that the homes are over priced and the property value is definitely inflated. The lake is really smaller than you would think. You can’t put a boat out on it but during the holidays it’s so crowded. You really don’t get to do much and the golf course is poorly maintained and managed. The restaurant is also over priced and poorly maintained; the wait staff is terrible. The fishing is not good and many people have pulled out some very questionable fish that had some very odd sicknesses. I would be really cautious about considering buying property there because I don’t think that the property value will increase. In short, after living there for three years, I found there to be a few really nice and gracious people who live there. They were the highlight of my time living there. My family made some good friends. However, the property owners association is a mess. The town is falling apart when it comes to the infrastructure. I would also question the management of the funds that the property owners association gets. Be careful if you are considering a move to the town and be extremely careful if you are considering buying property for a weekend home or vacation home.

Nobody was around to check us in. Many dogs not kept on leashes. A yard ornament got stolen while we were here, but the staff was helpful in finding it and mailing it back to us.

Stayed here in our RV. We had no help checking in and no one answered the phone on a weekend. The place looks like a trailer park and half the sites aren't usable. The worst part is we had our stuff stolen one night. Dogs run around with no leash. And the gate that's supposed to keep this place safe doesn't look like it's worked for years

Good pricing. Large pull thtough sites. Not much assistance with registration, or getting information. Especially in early or late hours. No help on Holidays or Weekends. Membership required, or guests of property owners.

Grew up coming here with my grandparents used to loved this place gated clean and secure. I was so excited to buy a lot a few years back so my kids could have the same experiences I had. Unfortunately it isn't the same. The gate is worthless people run in and out no more guard. There are to many abandon and overgrown properties. They rezone a section and my taxes went up from $57 a year to $700 roughly I think slightly more. I also had auto pay set up for years and then I get hit with collections. I had to let it go. Not sure why I paid dues and taxes anyhow when you can roam in and out freely.
